- Modders already hard at work fixing the GTA Trilogy:Definite Edition..fog restored making it look much better and atmospheric
-
Modders have to be some of the coolest people on the planet. Selflessly putting out content for people to enjoy. I will never not appreciate that
ID: hljxozdID: hlkd45cglances at all the Skyrim porn mods
ID: hlkc7is... and then they get sued for marketing purposes.
-
I'm not for piracy, but if I got this game, I would consider not paying Rockstar and donating to mod devs.
ID: hlj0r84Modding is not piracy
ID: hlj5db2I think they meant they'd pirate the game but donate to modders
-
I feel like they went a bit overboard, before there seems to be something missing, but the bottom picture looks like one of those hills during halloween with the thick misty fog.
ID: hljue1dThey just have a terrible smog problem.
-
Funny, a few days back I actually mentioned re-adding fog, just slightly in the distance to make it look more natural. I find it both amazing and sad that gamers need to rely on end-user modders to fix the muckups multi-billion dollar companies can't care less to fix, and they get paid to do it, modders don't.
The difference between doing something for money vs doing it out of passion.
-
Surprising that such a small think can make a huge difference to how the game looks but it really does look a million times better with the fog
-
Rockstar lost all my respesct not gonna lie, getting rid of the old versions, releasing a buggy bad looking game (visual are not their fault)and saying they didnt notice anything wrong, lawsuits to mods which every one know specially Rockstar that mods are one of the best things in GTA games.
I can forgive CD Projekt Red for Cyberpunk cause before that they're only good game (that was known as a masterpiece too) was The Witcher 3 which i also heard became a masterpiece over time, but Rockstar fuk no I honestly wont forgive them for for after people who make their games even more playable, and then allows this shit to be released, and not allowing other people that might not have the money or a PC good enough yo run these.
ID: hljv7uqWitcher 3 was not a masterpiece. Alot people seem to "forget" that witcher 3's release was exactly like cyberpunks release. A buggy broken mess.
ID: hljvkvlYeah, i know. I hearx about that and thats why i wrote "...became a masterpiece over time...". So yeah, i mentioned that, chill.
-
Imo people shouldnt even mod for these companies anymore
ID: hljquofRockstar has been threatening and suing modders for years. They hate their most loyal fans.
-
This always happens with remasters that have fog, because the people who do them don't give a shit. They don't care why the fog is there, they just dump it because then they can claim stuff about the render distance or what not. They did the same with Silent Hill and they'll do the same with the next game they "remaster".
Also, this wasn't actually made by Rockstar. This was made by a third party who were responsible for mobile ports of the game. Which tells you everything you need to know
-
I understand the argument of "Vanilla draw distance looks more natural" because if your up in the air, you could see for miles before light dispersion becomes super noticeable, depending on your environment of course. But the fog adds a very important illusion. Those two cities on the left are physically not that far apart and in a clear view, such as the vanilla draw distance, it shows! But add fog and it gives the illusion of greater distance, making the map feel bigger, and by doing so giving the player the feeling that this is an open world and not just an open map. Well... all up until you hit that invisible wall or "turn back now" warning out in the ocean.
Edit : damn phone auto correct

Fog fix look like second hand smoke in restaurants before it got banned.
It look awful like one giant hotbox.
Just looking at the picture make me want to pick up smoking again.
-
Vanilla looks better.
The fog reminds me of those game dev strategies from the N64 days where they put fog to save memory
ID: hliz7l2Vanilla looks better.
In this single screenshot. Maybe. But in the actual game every time you go onto something more than 10ft high you can see then entire square game world, and it is horrific, the lack of fog also breaks the LoD system resulting in flickering areas pop in and out of quality. You can even seen the boundary box out in the ocean where the traversable world ceases. The map was designed to have fog to smooth it out.
Check out 1m16s for one common and jarring example of how bad things get.
ID: hliq4d1Thats true but even in modern games like ac they don't need to put fog to save memory but the fog still exist because gives more realism and make the maps more naturall. The Vanilla screenshot here is the best possible senario when you can see the view without the bad ends of map. In 99% of cases fog make game look way better
-
Looks so much better.
-
I like how the fog back then was purely cause those systems had such short render distances, meaning they’d need to be hidden behind shit so you wouldn’t see them load in.
-
the smart thing would be hiring these people rockstar
-
Call me when is at $5 USD and fixed level Skyrim.
-
Too much fog in my opinion
-
Doing Gods work! Let's get that fog a little more thiccc
-
To be fair, they removed the fog on Home in the hills, but forgot to actually make the plane move so you didn't see that it's literally just sitting in the air.
-
Rockstar doesn't deserve the caliber of mods that are freely fixing their shit.
-
Man a year from now after modders fix everything this game could be really neat.
-
While I love the passion of Modders fixing games, I sometimes fear this (most of the times) free labor they put in might show devs/publishers "We can release broken bad games as long as it is moddable" (even more than they already do). Modders won't get the money if averagejoe69 buys a game cause mods make it good/fix it.
-
It's hilarious seeing GTA release like this after cyberpunk's release.
Everyone said companies would learn and pretended consumers would learn.
Nope. Gamers will buy anything a company dangles in front of them. Companies will continue to put out shit.
Modders are going to become essential to good gaming experiences in the near future.
-
Be careful, take 2 gonna sue for making it better.
-
It looks ugly. Taking away any sense of scale.
What atmosphere? A choking hazard? Yes, I to love driving in fog I can’t see 10 feet in front of me.
I want to see every sqaure inch of the map as far as I can, Cause that’s how reality works. That’s not a fix.
-
Looks worse, honestly.
-
My God, is every post on this sub about GTA now? Move the fuck on, people

I don't doubt most people do it for the people but weirdly enough I think most modding starts with a selfish thought. Like "I would love to have this thing changed to fit my personal taste better" but then people went "oh hey I agree with you and like what you did. Can I also have that?" Thankfully most people decided why not and just shared it for free for other people to enjoy. Then the modding community became a thing and standards were made and kept. Imagine a different world we're original modders asked to be paid instead, it's a dark world I don't want to be a part of.
That being said I do end up donating money to mods that become standard in all my playthroughs.
