- Keeping my Series X cool
-
Watch out for condensation.
ID: hljggnnID: hljxqwtIf it’s anything like mine it basically just tries to go -10 below ambient at all times. I used to use a mini fridge like this to store milk for my coffee machine, and it was great during the day with the heating on in the room it was in, but overnight it would start to freeze inside. There was no thermostat.
I would not be surprised if the same happened with this while the console was off. The temperature delta would be pretty large between it being off and on.
ID: hljuv8ebut is overheating an actual issue? My PC with RTX 1070, I7 processor, never even gets close.

I think I watched someone run a test like this before and it actually made it worse. They put their PC in the freezer though. I can’t remember why or how it made sense, but yeah..
ID: hljch88My guess is that freezers (and fridges) aren't great at cooling and rely on their enclosed environment to actually keep a low temp so the computer would produce more heat than they can cool, quickly becoming a heat generator in a closed environment.
ID: hljulzyExactly that. Fridges and freezers don't move that much heat over time. They do it slowly and rely on insulation to keep the temperature down.
Generally, putting a computer, or in this case an xbox, in a minifridge will basically just mean it's trapped in an insulated box and gets hotter than it normally would. Not great.
ID: hlkd2afMy full height fridge & freezer uses about 200W maximum based on the fuse ratings which are oversized for a reason.
At 100% efficiency, that ain't gonna cut it chief. Good luck with the mini fridge with 0 airflow.
ID: hlje6kbIt was Linus tech tips.
ID: hlkbcw06 years old, but conclusion still valid: doesn't work well. Fridge cooling isn't built for it.

I don't think a refrigerator can keep up with the heat these generate...
ID: hljy0hbIndeed, it won’t. What will happen is that it’ll be mildly cooler than ambient, or even slightly hotter given it’s an enclosed space, when the console is on, and it’ll go down towards freezing when it’s off. If it doesn’t have a thermostat, which they usually don’t.
ID: hlk0q0nIt will also destroy the refrigerator since they are not designed to cope with this much heat, especially continuously.
Same reason you don't put a big pot of soup in the fridge right away. That's a lot of energy to remove and the compressor will run more often than you should want, shortening the life of the appliance.
Edit: I suppose this would only be the case when it does have a thermostat. Still though, don't put big hot things in a fridge.
ID: hlk54tnit'll just create liquid from condensation

Nice. Now you need KFConsole for heat
-
Yo dawg! I keep my fridge in the fridge while I fridge
-
Can you make a gif of the fridge closed and then opening to reveal the Xbox? It'd be awesome and kind of funny to see 🙂

The minifridge in the minifridge. next thing you know the Ps4 is going to be inside a router with two pieces of paper around it.

Inception

Amazing up see like 1500 bucks of high end tech in one picture. /S

Cool

How chilling.

A fridge in a fridge?
-
Don't know .. Why using a console which needs a fridge to keep cool enough?
ID: hlj6i9xThe fridge is the joke Series X Minifridge
ID: hlj6p11I know. That was just a lame attempt from me of the standard "PS User makes joke about another console" joke... Wasn't funny, I know. I take myself out.

Great way to risk scratching it

Nice

The mini fridge only gets to 10 degrees below room temperature. Condensation is not an issue.
