Hey!
Im stuck in mid chapter 4, and my character levels are averaged at 45-55 ish. Ive never grinded or hit any random battles, so all the exp i get is just from doing story battles normally. I'm having a lot of trouble now at this level range and i'm wondering if anyone has advice on how to keep levels super low... I watch people play it on youtube and they are around level 20 in chapter 4 and i am bewildered how they are able to stay so low so late in the game... Any thoughts?

Keeping your levels low pretty much requires knowledge you don't actually have at the time. Knowing that you need certain abilities or classes at key points is important. Not getting stuck in revive loops because of that is huge. If you don't have to kill all enemies don't.
20 at chapter 4 seems very low. I wouldn't be able to do that. I could think of a few things. They either really know what they are doing, rotated units and tried to avoid the MC, or a combination and spent a lot of time beating up a lv 1 unit and jp spilled all their units.
Edit - I just checked my last playthrough to get an idea of my levels. Halfway through chapter 3 at level 25.

Most of the people that post stuff on YT use the JP glitch to get the spells they need without grinding.
ID: gq4utboNo glitch in 1.3
ID: gq5f3tzThe patch removes that glitch. Boy was I shocked when I discovered that glitch as a kid!

Go to Zecklaus desert, hit a random battle, in the middle trench part on the side is a elevated spot. Just below that elevated spot is a trap called a degenerator that will reduce the level of a character by one every time they step on it.
Take some jobs that will render an enemy useless like knight or black mage or both. With knight, use power break, speed break and with the black mage, use frog on a single enemy left after clearing the place.
Then, just take turns in reducing the levels of your characters one by one. If you have if in you, you could do some Job point grinding while your there. Having a monk use chakra on magic users to replenish their MP while they cast spells like protect, haste, blind, etc will train them and you can use others characters abilities to heal or cure them.
I did this for about an hours yesterday. I almost mastered all five jobs that the characters had. Make sure you don't have a reaction ability like counter that could kill the last enemy there and end the fight before you want it to end.

I guess i need to start over and play smarter. I knew that they punish higher levels, but I didn't think it would be so strong.
