Interesting. I've been WASDing for 30-odd years now, and I've always just rested my fingers on ASDF, with my ring finger switching between W or S as needed. I guess my index fingers just automatically look for the bump on F and J?

I am a tradesman who now works exclusively on the computer. I specifically look for this hand posture on potential hires because I know they are a gamer tradesman and the comp will be a good fit. Pointer Typers no good. Hasn’t let me down so far lol

I do it too! Even when using applications that have shortcuts that don't make sense for this hand resting and I have to move around to get to them

Nice. I was more into Diablo than Doom so I tend to hover closer to numbers 1-4.

Fortunately for me, I am a lefty and I remap all my games to control movement with IJKL, so that my right hand sits normally on the home row. I did that so it is easy to jump into typing, but it has the added benefit of being inconspicuous.

I rest on QWER when I play a lot of MOBAs.
Tab+number bar when I play a lot of ARPGs.
WASD is for MMOs.

The guy who ran our computer lab in middle school came up to me once and went "what are you trying to hide?" I was super confused, so I asked what he meant. "look where your hand is. I know you just hit alt+tab. What's the other window?" I looked down and went "that's just where I keep my hand for EverQuest. WASD." He looked at my hand again, then just walked off.
He was right, though. I had just swapped off some shitty browser MMO.
