I bought this game when I was 17 to teach myself to drive a manual transmission a bit better. Graphics are dated, physics are a bit weird, but really that's not what this game's about - my experience with it was that it genuinely wanted to teach people to be better drivers and learn the rules of the road... sometimes to a frustrating degree.
I played with a flat monitor and as you might expect judging the length of the car in all directions is hard as a result, and you will get dinged for just about everything. Speeding of course even a little, crossing a line without a turn signal, not using a turn signal at all, not putting your signal on while going around a roundabout, not turning your signal off, etc. But in a way it did teach me things that I still remember and do in real life to this day - even if I NEVER see anyone else do it (namely putting the signal on while going around a roundabout and changing it before your exit).
For learning to drive stick? Surprisingly it does have clutch mechanics and they're better than Assetto Corsa and Project Cars which both act like an on/off switch. Still,it's more for getting the motions down than anything else.
Fun game overall, I did enjoy it. But if you want any level of action? Absolutely not. I paid 12.50 if I remember correctly and for what it sets out to do, I do believe it's worth it even at that... though it's age really shows.

When I was learning to drive I looked for something like this, ended up "training" with Truck Simulator 2 for lack of options. This seems like it's more suited for this purpose, and it's an all time low price (previously $3.74).

Edit: I since bought it and tried it, as I own both a wheel and a VR headset. It seemed quite valuable for a learner, with lots of tips and warnings. You're basically forced to learn stick, I couldn't get automatic working. The stalling on the manual was extremely sensitive, but I guess it teaches good habits.
But the game would freeze out of nowhere for at least 10 seconds, this would happen multiple times in just a single "lesson". I tried different variations of settings, wheel input, and VR/no VR, but I always had this issue. I wasn't about to spend an hour working through this issue for a small game I would've played for the same amount of time, so I refunded. Give it a go yourself, but it seems like the issue isn't too uncommon.

ID: gq6w8mxI was looking for the same thing to help teach my sister to drive, and ended up using GTAV and a VR+wheel mod to teach, since GTAs world is well built in regards to roads, traffic signs, and road markings. Also had a lot of fun in it myself driving around lol try that out!

This game is OK. It almost scratches the itch of driving fast cars (mods) around traffic. The maps are just tiny sections though.
Are there mods for bigger maps? From what I see I was only able to choose small sections of the two maps.

You can race, you can drift, you can chill with friends in a parking lot in a car u like it’s mind boggling

Bought this to help teach my sister to drive. Was terrible in VR, ultimately just used GTAV VR mod and a wheel.
