Just a little curious lol. I'm thinking every 6 months is good, so maybe then.
-
I haven’t cleaned mine. Didn’t clean my PS4 for 6 years either lol, don’t do what I did
ID: gq0s0ggID: gq14il7Lol
-
I’ve never cleaned the inside of my consoles and never had any issues. PS2, PS3, PS4, and PSPro. All acquired close to the launch date too
-
I do t think I’ve ever cleaned an electronic device in my life
-
I'll probably stick the vacuum nozzle over the dust tray opening in a couple of months. Twice a year will be fine.
-
I have cats so I clean mine once a month. Even though it doesn’t look dusty on the outside you’d be surprised how much dust gets in.
ID: gq310z3Yeah I know lol, they get real dusty inside
-
Well, I cleaned mines about a week or so ago. I will say this, the size and over all space in the console adds to keeping it rather clean. Even though my cabinet was very dusty it was actually pretty clean! Also easy as to clean out. Just be sure to hold the bottom of the console and lift at the PS symbol slightly and slide. Do not just pull up.
-
I think I cleaned my PS4 once in 7 years and that was just because I was upgrading the Memory. Never had any trouble with it.
edit: storage not memory.
ID: gq35oe9By memory you surely mean storage
-
I’m too scared I don’t want to be one of those guys who posts on here.....”took apart my PlayStation and put it back together, who knows that this screw is for?”
ID: gq0wfwnThere are no screws involved
-
Not me.
-
I'll probably give it a blast of air when I install the internal memory expansion.
ID: gq13v32Those things are going to be damn expensive, especially with these crazy games sizes and update files in the way.
-
Whenever I’m vacuuming regularly I just unplug my console, take off the face plates and use the hand attachment to vacuum both sides. Sony even designed it to be vacuumed so I would recommend doing it. Why let it get all dusty if you can easily prevent it?
-
Not necessary. I've owned consoles for the last 25 years and never once taken one apart to clean it internally and I've never had any issues whatsoever.
-
How do you clean it?
ID: gq0vhz5Dishwasher.
ID: gq0vgtsThere’s a dust compartment under the pannels
ID: gq11gmwRemove the side panels and do a quick vacuum to the vents and fan.
-
Haven’t cleaned mine. Got my pro shortly after it launched and didn’t clean it h til last summer and even then only cleaned the fan.
-
I'll probably clean it when I eventually buy plates for it. Otherwise, I don't use it all that much anyway. I just started FFXV and have played it more in three days, than I had played before, since day one.
-
Have not.
-
i only clean my ps4 once in 7 years of usage.
So i wont clean my ps5 for a while especially the lack of stocks >_> -
I forgot this was a thing.
-
Thanks for all the feedback guys
-
I use my ps4 on average at least 2 hours a day for nearly 7 years. I've never internally cleaned it and have never had a problem
-
I cracked mine ALL the way open a week ago. "Warranty Stickers" don't exist here in the US, anymore. You see one, ignore that shit. The "dust catchers" are for the people that the warranty sticker still applies to and they don't know the workaround.
Open your PS5s up and clean them out (if you're in the US, at least.) because they suck in a lot more air and accompanying dust than the PS4 did. If the vent of the power supply gets too dusty and the PSU overheats, the PS5 will just turn off with no warning.
-
I did just the other day after having it since 1/13
Super easy. If you help plug the holes with your finger, you can really feel the vacuum pulling from deep inside the system. Very satisfying. Also I live in LA so its pretty dusty.
-
Never cleaned my base PS4 and its worked fine from launch day to now. Don't really see the point in touching the PS5 either tbh.
-
Havent cleaned mine so far and probably wont for a w.. ever. Probably cleaned my PS4 Pro once in hope to ground the "jet" then laughed at myself and never did it again...
-
I haven't and probably never will. I never cleaned my PS4 and never had any issues with it
-
I would only do that if I started having issues with the console such as randomly shutting down etc....things that would point to a potential issue with heat.
ID: gq0wu80I think cleaning it to prevent anything like that would be good.
-
People actually do that?
-
Have not and never will
-
I’ve never cleaned a console internally and never had a problem.
-
Cleaned it twice i think a 3rd clean is due tho
-
Cleaned it twice since launch
ID: gq13z8kNice

Problems with dust are greatly overrated. By itself it does no damage, the only way it can harm you is by obstructing airflow, but that would require a truckload of dust and is unlikely to happen to most people. Even if it does happen you would know well before by the fan revving up, or if if ever does force shutdown you could just clean it then, if you somehow ignored it. That's assuming it ever happens at all.
The whole cleaning every few weeks/months thing is just plain paranoia.
-
No. We keep the house clean instead.
ID: gq3cgmjLol. Keeping your house clean doesn't mean a console doesn't get dusty inside. Doesn't matter how clean your home is, a console will still acquire dust over time.
-
I got mine about 2 weeks ago but haven't cleaned it yet i'm laying it horizontally so hopefully it won't intake as much dust as if it were vertical
ID: gq0wl5uYou're good for cleaning since you got it two weeks ago huh. Enjoy!

that's what i did too my 6 year old PS4 and Xbox were overheating way to much after an hour lol
