- [Gaming] Take-Two CEO: Gamers Are "Ready" for $70 Price on Video Games (NicheGamer)
-
No, fuck you
-
LOL! I wasn't ready for a fractured $60 plus whatever price for the rest of the game game. I wait until the game goes on sale after all dlc is out. They increase the price means I wait longer; I already have a backlog of games, and I'm a patient man.

So.....you want people to pay $70 for games like Anthem, which failed and the got no support and the axe, and Avengers which from my much harder core gamer friends, pretty much lost most of its player base since launch.
I mean I know I'm the outlier and dont rush out for games. But I'd be more hesitant at 70 then I already am.
ID: gqizcxaThat's the problem, we are the outlier. The people shoveling out money for the most awful shit are the ones guiding what direction the industry heads in, and have been for way too many years.
-
The timing of this message couldn't have possibly been any worse when people are hurting because of the lockdowns. So Mr. CEO, why don't you make like a tree and get out of here.
-
Considering how little wages have risen among those lucky enough to still have their jobs this CEO can go fuck himself.
ID: gqj2z3zI thought a mandatory $15 minimum wage was made recently?
-
I’m ready . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . for a deep discount by the time they give us a complete game with all the DLCs included.
-
Obsessive Compulsive game collector here. I have a backlog so large I could quit cold turkey and still have enough games to play till the day I die. My PS4 collection alone is over 400 games, too big for the 6TB I have connected to it. I've been using my PS5 for the overflow.
I am ready to start waiting for games to go on sale instead of pre-ordering them for launch day.
ID: gqixg4hDiablo III. Never agian.
ID: gqiz2gbSame situation here.
I think I would need two lifetimes to get through all games I own. It's been a while that I only buy games on sale for that reason.
-
With this economy? Unless your game is GTA VI or Elder Scrolls VI, then no way!
ID: gqjirbr“Yes I’m willing to pay that for some games” isn’t much of a comeback
-
Still waiting for price drops.
-
I'd pay $70 for a quality game, if it didn't include microtransactions or other scummy business tactics.
-
Wait until gas is $6/gal and a Big Mac combo is $17, then get back to me if gamers are ready for $70 video games.
ID: gqj78byYou're still gonna be allowed to use gas? I thought you were all going "green" and not even the nuclear kind of green
The gas is for the use of the ultra rich who like to go on about caring about the environment
-
Look, if you release a complete product day 1, no need for patches or random “Free Content Upgrades” in 6 months, yah I’ll pay $70 for the damn game. But if they release a Beta and expect us to be there testers, I would rather sail the high seas instead of giving them any of my money.
-
Yeah, probably. It seems like a lot but I don't have a mental hurdle going to 70 like I did to 60. They're both just "More than $50"
-
Only if I don't pay an extra 70$ for shit dlc or loot boxes.
-
“Gamers are willing to be exploited further?” OK, the popularity of CoD, microtransactions, pay to win etc do all speak to that.
However, I’m not one of those sheep, so your price hike doesn’t affect me. I’ll still get on discount or buy used, assholes.
-
Heh. Last time I paid full price for a game was......Saints Row IV, I think?
-
Take Two's shit isn't even worth $7
-
PS4 AAA games already up from 60€ to 70€
-
I'm already hesitant to bother with games with a tag north of $20. $70 is off the table for the trash AAA studios put out. Goes double for EA.
-
I Haven’t bought a game for full price in almost a decade.
-
$70 for new game. Very clever, not mentioning loot boxes and micro transactions. Those poor triple A companies, hurting so much they change fuck all about their broken business model.
-
Really? At this point I was thinking less and less people were purchasing games full priced due to so many alternative options.
-
Meanwhile in Europe we've been paying 70€ since the 360 released.
Edit : and before anyone comes with the "it's because of VAT" stupid argument let me tell you it's not. There is no magical Eurozone-wide VAT that magically varries in rate so that the price always stays the same no matter the exchange rate. It's just the price we have been conditioned to accept as the value for a game.
-
No surprise, this fucker is in bed with Tim Sweeney.
-
A reminder, humble bundle now has Stellaris on a bundle for the next two weeks.
-
I wouldn't pay that even for XCOM 3. I'm ready for a 70$ game if and only of it has the content of a full AAA game, plus a full AAA expansion pack.
And I mean "expansion pack", not "DLC", not a crappy "I hadded a few missions here and there and that it". I'm talking about a "War of the chosen" package, with content aplenty, mod support, etc... Otherwise, it's "Steam sales day" all the way
-
Most if not all my games are indie, not gonna pay for any of this new western AAA crap
