Let's all have a civil discussion 🙂
-
Just happy no one needs to speculate and can move onto something else to argue about. Haha
ID: gqm6lohID: gqmmm3iSo, back to normal?
ID: gqm7zrlTrust me, thats not stopping. I've seen a few people already trying to very liberally interpret what they mean when they said "legacy titles".
ID: gqm8salLol.
ID: gqm6o9cThis is bullshit tbh , I'm pissed that I will never get to play a new doom or evil within 3 if it ever comes out
ID: gqm70v0It does make things difficult for gamers, since all three major platforms have their own unique lineups.
-
I'm fucking pissed lol, love Fallout, Elder Scrolls and Indiana Jones. Pisses me off i won't be able to play them now. Playstation just has fuck all for Western RPG's
ID: gqn6wkhEh a Series S is a pretty cheap buy for what you get, especially by time those games are actually going to be releasing, would probably be worth grabbing one just for the exclusives.
ID: gqnc0t1Actually Microsoft now have 3 of the biggest wrpg developers in the industry: Bethesda, Obsidian and InXile so it is not only those you will be missing on.
ID: gqnca3aYeah thats the worst part, Playstation has almost nothing for wrpg's. Hopefully they get their shit together on that front, but not holding my breath
ID: gqmzlltSorry to hear 🙁
ID: gqn3pz5Meh, all good, I probably play to many video games anyway, this will definitely get me playing less.

I've owned an Xbox since the launch of the OG system. Over the years I've bounced back and fourth to Playstation for such amazing PS exclusives like God of War, Uncharted and the Last of Us. The argument I heard the most was that PS has the best exclusives. My feeling has always been that exclusives can come easy, a studio can spend a few years to put out an awesome game. The infrastructure Xbox has built took longer but with Game Pass they're finally going to see their hardwork and ambition pay dividends. Game Pass is now suddenly surrounding PlayStation and with the streaming service bundled with it, any device is a game pass platform. They've designed Game Pass and the future of Xbox to compete with Amazon's future streaming and Google. Not to be mean, but that makes it sound like the PlayStation platform is a thing of the past. Xbox adapted and is pushing to be the best gaming subscription service. With their own other studios working on cool looking stuff, now the home of Bethesda and a deal for EA Play and a rumoured other deal to bring Ubisoft Uplay into the mix, it's undeniable that they've made a gaming subscription juggernaut.
Some people have said Xbox needs those PlayStation consumers for future big games like TES:VI and Fallout 5. But that's an old fashioned way of looking at it. Xbox doesn't want a PlayStation user's one-time payment of 80 dollars for TES:VI. They want concurrent subscribers, paying a monthly fee. That's the future of games, and they've known this now for a few years as they've quietly been building this juggernaut of theirs.
I like my PlayStation and am excited for both platforms futures. Something like this should just inspire competitors to work harder and better for consumers. And that's good for all of us. 🙂
ID: gqnplphThank you for taking the time to share your insight. It was well thought and constructed.

I never thought those games would come to PS5 from the start. If you drop that much money to buy multiple studios, they're going to work to your advantage and not anyone else's. I never understood why people thought otherwise, but I figured Xbox couldn't say more until the sale was finalized. Glad that is over, though.
-
Genuinely, why would you think otherwise? How more specific can he word it so people will finally understand?
ID: gqmdju6I was always confident that the acquisition was to bolster Xbox Game Pass and drive subscription sales.
ID: gqmn5tbNot only that, it's funny some people believe MS spent $7.5B to become a third party publisher when their biggest critique for pretty much the entire time they've been in the console business has been a lack of exclusives. They make a huge purchase which directly addresses that critique and people still think "eh, they'll still release it on Playstation".
-
I’ll be upset if the come out with any new Dishonored games, but other than that I’m kinda over the jankiness of their recent Fallouts and the cash grab that was Skyrim. I did really enjoy those games, but I’m not really too interested in any of the new ones that might come out.
ID: gqn85hdThat's what you say now but just wait till they release Skyrim on the microwave 😛
ID: gqn8q7hO M G a I forgot about microwave gaming!!! Nooooooooo!
-
That was pretty clear since the News broke. You are not paying 8 Billion for a bunch of Franchises and then change nothing about them.
I thought best case would have been a Timed Exclusive for PC/XBOX.
I still think smaller Games (Not Fallout, TES, DOOM) could come to Playstation sometimes.
-
dont know how to feel until the games come out.
ID: gqmvk1iGood call. I've been let down by hyped games 100 times too many...
ID: gqmz484Scalebound, still salty about that
-
Just one more reason to use my brain and option to buy a platform where you pay less for getting more, Microsoft! Sony is now way behind the curve. They don't have a single shooter, a single "good" multiplayer focused game, a single full RPG. Just the same old shit.
-
Im disappointed that I’ll have to most likely buy an Xbox for Fallout/TES, but honestly knew this was coming, and it’s a brilliant chess piece move by Phil Spencer. I admire the strategy and by the time any of those exclusives are close to release, I’m sure we’ll be close to the end of this next gen cycle.
ID: gqmps8mOn the flip side, the customer benefits from strong competition 😀
ID: gqnc983Why disappointed? There is nothing wrong with having more than one console.
Gamepass Ultimate will allow you access to not just the entire Xbox catalog but also Zenimax/Bethesda and EA's library via EA Play.
ID: gqnhww5And Not a PC? Phil Spencer's goal is to sell you Microsoft s expansive suite of service Software. He could care less if you buy a console.
-
Are future Doom titles off the table for Sony now? Because that’s a bummer, but I’m not too rip and torn.
ID: gqmxwdhThat appears to be the case.
ID: gqmyjjzI can always revisit the classic titles, so no biggy, but sucks I’ll have to buy an Xbox to play doom now, but tbh, I’ve never wanted to play a doom title that bad, that I’d shell out money for a new console. I feel like Doom 3 was an exclusive for a while when it dropped, and I held off and beat it a decade later.
-
I’ll probably just get a nice desktop when TES:6 comes in like 5 years (maybe).
-
Kind of expected this to happen but I also play both consoles so I’m not going to miss out. I understand why only PS players would be upset though
-
I think it’s good for Xbox after seeing how dominant the PS4 was with its exclusives. I’ll end up getting both consoles eventually so I’m indifferent.
-
Who cares, I guess. If a platform-exclusive game is really worth playing, it's worth buying the platform. Let's see if Bethesda can come close to the greatness of New Vegas again.
-
Microsoft will do what they always have done. Extend an olive branch to Sony, and allow gamepass to be subscribable through PS. If Sony wants to play ball, then PS owners will have the ability to play those games, and Microsoft takes their cut. Everyone wins. That's a lot more than Sony has offered Microsoft with their exclusives, and I think PS owners should be happy that the option may even exist.
ID: gqnr19qPlayStation has been playing hardball for quite some time now...
-
Couldn't care less
-
I think the competition will be good. My fear is that the industry is shifting to acquiring studios. It’ll be interesting to see.
-
Makes sense. For anyone without a PC or an Xbox you can stream the games from xcloud. Not ideal, but it's better then dropping hundreds to play a game or two. Besides that, all zenimax titles coming to gamepass makes an already good service into an even better one, as a PC player.
-
It makes me glad I have both of the new consoles! Though, I haven’t really been impressed with the Bethesda lineup in recent years so I probably won’t even play most of their upcoming games. However, those games being offered through game pass could sway me to check them out. It’s my opinion that Bethesda developed games are a decade behind the rest of industry, and you can find other companies doing all the same stuff better. The publishing side is a whole different story though, it’s a shame that Doom and Evil Within won’t be on PlayStation anymore. All in all, it sucks, but it’s no huge loss in my eyes. If you love Bethesda games its got sting a lot more though.
-
Not bothered
ID: gqmacgtCool 🙂
There are select games that I would like to play on all platforms 😐
ID: gqmpqkcAgreed. I want to play Fable, Starfield, TES6 and Avowed on the Series X and FF16, FF7R (any new episodes on PS5), and God of War on the PS5. We have the Series X and I'm waiting for the one of those three games to be on sale to get the PS5. Both systems have fun games.

Now they'll just argue about who has the better exclusives, lol.
