That wind effect is so cool and haunting. RE2 has the best zombie noises too IMO, plus the best soundtrack.

Yep. Atmosphere has always been RE's strength, especially in the classic trilogy and then REmake and Zero. So much detail on the streets. The city sings the song of the dead in the distance. And I love the fact that it doesn't quite look like a real American city. That gives it its unique charm that realism takes away.

I absolutely love it! RE2 and RE3 city ambience is haunting as hell. Its what I miss from Remakes, especially RE3make. This one alley with donut shop is not the creepy RC I love.
Also I hate how in Re2make and Re3make they changed zombies voices from this painful wailing to generic monster growling.

So far I’m am LOVING the original 2 but now with what you said I’m less hyped to play 2 remake....
ID: grq9fo6RE2make is an amazing game, really! You will love it, I promise, so dont worry! It has also few tricks in its sleeve to make up for what is missing from original 🙂
On the other hand transition from RE3 to RE3make can be more brutal, because RE3 is hugely different from original game and simplified to a dangerous degree. But its still fun game, especially during first play through and you will have a blast playing it! (though in my opinion its significantly weaker than RE2, RE2make and RE3).
ID: grqmoqrOh come on you're going to pretend the city is any better in RE2R? Lol. Neither of the two remakes has as good of a city as the originals, but RE2R has the worst city sections for sure. They're just empty and dull and don't have enough detail.
I agree about the zombie moans. I prefer the creepy, dead sounding zombies to the snarling monster zombies of Hollywood cliché.
ID: grqqadrI agree with you - RE2 city sections are small and meh. But Im more disappointed by RE3make since original RE2 was not focused on exploring RC streets while it was a huge part of original RE3. So I was really hyped that I will see and experience Raccoon City in RE3make...

The remake gave the environment justice, keeping the pop out drawing style of it while modernizing it. I really can't think of a game with a more unique style like the one they gave this and RE 3. Holds up to this day.

because there is "less" on screen and the Camera is fixed, the classic games ambience HAD to be good. Classic RE really managed to get the perfect city Ambeince with the absolute dead silence of a city and the noises of moans in the background and the wind whistling through the barren streets.
Because the new games are OTS and put you in a detailed environment, ambient noises like these are lost because you're now closer to the environment and can see through skyboxes how fucked up shit it.
