- Resident Evil Village Will Have Performance & Graphics Modes On PS5
-
As far as i remember metro exodus dev promise 4k and full ray tracing and 6fps on an update to there game coming in the future
For me as a ps5 owner i really wish all games to be 1440 with RT and 60Fps , this is the sweet spot for me.
ID: gtx9zm6ID: gtxidrtThe only thing I miss is how dense the crowds can get in fidelity mode feels awesome to swing over so many people.
ID: gtxgef8The game is just simply gorgeous!
ID: gtxi7x8Does it do different from Spiderman Remastered? In that one they just killed the population density and it completely destroyed New York for me because there were no people. I ended up just dealing with 30fps because the ray tracing was just soooo sweet.
ID: gtx2sts6fps would be nice mmm
ID: gtx93j6Yes actually amazing if you played at 3 fps all your life
ID: gtxlxo8Yeah, 6 fps reminds me of my experiences trying to get the original Metro to run on graphics cards available at the time.
ID: gtxbcwsNot so bad once you get used to it.
ID: gtx8gbiHopefully Playstation and Xbox both get some type of DLSS from AMD so we can run these games just as you proposed, but on 4k TVs
And Sony needs to add 1440p Support for the Monitor players out there too
ID: gtxabljThey will...next generation.
ID: gtx8u2oYep, i agree. 1440P with RT and 60 fps would be the aweet spot.
ID: gty7zz8Yep 1440p looks great to me on a 4k display. I agree with you completely.
ID: gtx43xf4k
Dynamic 4K, which is going to mean average of 1440p or lower, just like the 60 fps RT mode in Spider Man.
And no, it will not be full ray tracing, it's just ray-traced global illumination on consoles.
PC version will also get reflections, as well as much increased quality of the RT obviously.
ID: gtx8ntvAnd the PC version will also get RT shadows
ID: gty5s6vSame. At the distance I sit it's hard for me to appreciate 4k over 1440p. It's just a waste but I sure as hell see the difference at 60 fps and other visual effects. Thankfully it seems like devs are building around 60fps which is the way to go. 30fps with rt is a pass. Spiderman did one of the best 30fps thanks to probably the best motion blur but I couldn't do it for Miles morales after seeing a minute of performance mode I couldn't go back.
ID: gtxkotxI want all PS5 (exclusives) to include a 4K 60 FPS checkerboard rendering. No ray-tracing needed for me.
-
Hopefully these modes are standard for the entire gen. Players should have a choice how they want to play a game
ID: gtx3u0vMan I hate having to choose
ID: gtx5rvoAlways performance
ID: gtzgxd0Let me tell you about my friend the PC. 😀
ID: gtxam1sI always pick graphics, but that's why I like the choice.
-
I really hate Screen Rant’s obsession with slideshows.
-
Don't make me choose between 60 fps or ray tracing please.... Here is hoping there is at least 1440p 60 fps ray tracing or something.. But I can't do 1080p..4k looks too good on my tv
ID: gtx4nejMile Morales RT performance setting should be the target for all devs.
ID: gtx78lpI’d agree. Happily trade off full 4K for 1440p with a good upscale and 60fps with some form of RT
Miles morales was an absolute joy in performance RT mode
ID: gtx8f3iMiles Morales lets us have ray tracing at lower resolution
ID: gtwuwu1The maiden demo is native 4k with ray tracing and 60 fps
ID: gtwynyvI'm a bit confused on raytracing. Some games like COD have ray traced shadows, others like miles morales have ray traced reflections. Is there any PS5 game with actual, full raytraced lighting?
ID: gtwzsxtThe maiden demo has no action and small closed off rooms, can't compare a tech demo to the full game.
ID: gtwwwmyI hope all future games have a atleast a 1080p 60fps RT option like Miles Morales. Ofc the more resolution is better but I'd gladly take FPS and RT over it.
ID: gtx50l5It is still 4k for miles morales with some upscaling methods. They worked hard on it.
-
This is now the standard. People have gotten too used to 60fps.
-
Honestly every single game should have a 1080p60fps RT mode. There really isn't much excuse.
-
Rather have zero ray tracing and a game look as nice as demons souls
ID: gtxnsw7I agree, too many trade offs for too little benefit
ID: gtyh5mnWell guess it depends on the type of game. Ray-traced reflections in a racing game is absolutely beautiful and worth the trade-off as we'll see with Grand Turismo 7. However, ray-traced reflections is a lot less relevant on a game like Horizon: Forbidden West where ray-traced lighting would make more sense. It truly depends on the title if it's worth the performance hit.
-
Kind of shit when you think about it... what's next... are they gonna advertise 8k, then give you the option to play 8k at 5fps?
ID: gtxddj78k would require you to sit like two feet away from a 100" screen to see the difference from 4k.
-
I never played a game with Ray tracing and RE8 already looks great so I can't complain
ID: gtx7r8yThey vary in quality. Simple reflections look great but shadows, lighting, and global illumination are where ray tracing really shows its value. Playing cyberpunk 2077 at completely max quality was utterly insane visually. Shame it was so rushed.
-
Why are so many people complaining in here about having the choice? It's good to have the choice. Yeah, it sucks that it feels like you're missing out on a smoother framerate or graphical fidelity, but the PS5 simply isn't capable of putting both options together.
They should definitely work for a middle ground option like Spiderman did, but that means the problem is a lack of choice.
ID: gtxtcc4What some people don't seem to understand is that they're always missing out on something, whether the developer gives them the options or not. I see no value in a developer basically telling me "30 fps is our intended way to play the game" because I think it should be up to the player to decide what aspects they value more, not to mention that decision on the dev's part is 99% of the time motivated by technical limitations rather than any actual design choice.
That doesn't mean we have to go full PC-style settings menu, as I do think that goes against the simplicity expected from a console game, but a simple toggle with 2-3 choices is a perfectly happy middle ground between both approaches.
-
I’m going to be honest, I never imagined when getting the ps5 that I’d be choosing 20-30fps with beautiful graphics or 60fps with nice graphics, I kind of just assumed I’d get both or something similar tbh lol.
ID: gtyrvarThere's always room to push more graphics by sacrificing frame rate. Those "nice" graphics you talk about will still be better than PS4 so you shouldn't worry. To me games came to a point where some extra graphics only makes a slight difference while frame rate makes a much bigger difference as it always did.
-
There is no going back to 30fps (for me), I'm not sure it was ever the intention for 60fps to be such a hit with next-gen, but I hope it's the standard development target going forward.
-
How about some of that good old fashion PSVR support?
-
This should be mandatory for all new games. Choice is good!
-
When I got my PS5 I was under the impression I would have 4K 60fps on all major titles. I can't say I'm not disappointed having to choose.

Spider-Man Miles Morales does an awesome job of cutting back in just the right areas to get RTX60fps. Insomniac's scaling up technology is insane. It's why no matter what the resolution is it always looks really good on a 4K screen.
