If you have an xbox i recommend playing NG: Black and NG 2 on backwards compatibility. Much better than these versions.

Don’t have either and I probably never will. If I buy another gaming decide it’ll just be a PC in a few years but I’m a Mac+PS5 guy :/

Quite like DMC yes, though obviously not exactly the same. Difficulty is the most similar part, and there are a decent number of combos. I still remember that Izuna Drop combo, Square, Triangle, Square Square square triangle.

It at its heart is still a sword fighting game, with blocking quite a key part. Fluidity of DMC, but stylistically there is a bit of old fashion sword fighting there.

So less combo oriented than DMC with hack and slash elements fitting for the era, kinda GoW (PS2)-ish? That’s what it looks like based on the footage.
3 ： Anonymous：2021/04/13 16:32 ID: gudxwnt: I got so excited for this until I found out that it's only the Sigma games, and that the resources for Ninja Gaiden / Ninja Gaiden Black are lost and the game would have to be recreated from scratch which is why they're not "remastering" them.

I mean, I Ninja Gaiden 2 was a huge disappointment after the first, I didn't even bother with the Sigma series.

But it doesn't sound like I'm missing much with Simga 2 being all sorts of censored still...

I guess I'm on the fence if this would be worth it. Thoughts on Ninja Gaiden Black vs. Sigma?

As a big NG fan who never played Sigma, I combed through a few threads after this info was announced.

General consensus was that Black is better, but anyone who loved NG/NGB will probably still love Sigma.

Man, NG/B was my jam. I could beat that game in one sitting, without saving or dying once on ANY difficulty setting... I placed top 20 in the Master Ninja Tournament.

I have a feeling that Sigma is tweaked just enough, that I'd have a hard time overcoming muscle memory.

I thought Sigma 2 + was supposed to be included which uncensored the censors?

I saw an article that was talking about Sigma 2 still being censored, then I noticed in this video from about the 1:45 mark, there isn't any blood, just purple mist.

It's not the censoring that's the problem. It's the change to the gameplay that sucks. I recall reading the ps3 struggled with all the enemies on screen so they toned the enemy count down, made them all tanks, added one hit kills, etc. It's an ok game but the original NG2 is still imo the greatest action game ever made.
