I just want to say... WOW! This demo runs so well even with ray tracing on! The maiden demo has a lot of the same areas as this demo and I have to say it seems like they really worked on optimizing. Seems to be almost consistently 60 FPS with just a few drops with RT on and locked 60 with RT off. Looks great plays great! I cannot wait for this game 🙂

This game looks great and fun, but shit I think it's too scary for me. Played it just now with headphones on and in the dark.
That basement section was insane.
ID: gvscyirID: gvseu6tFunny I'm the exact opposite. Can't do horror films but I liked RE2 remake and am enjoying myself with Village too.
ID: gvtbpfrSame. I think it's because it's easy to watch other people go through scary stuff in a movie, but I NOPE hard when I'm the one who has to press up into the scary lol
ID: gvsrdjeImagine in VR then?
ID: gvsdaqtHaaaaa you’re just like me. I can’t play scary games. Even Castlevania 64 was too scary for me. That’s despite me growing up watching wildly inappropriate horro
movies. At least I can play something like Days Gone even though there’s the random startle here and there because it doesn’t feel like you’re alone all the time.ID: gvsl5w5Holy shit. Castlevania 64. Man, the big skeleton was a nope moment in my childhood. If only I could go back to nope at that part again.
ID: gvt5xtaGames are a lot more scary with headphones in the dark. You’d probably be fine if you just played it normally.
ID: gvtf4z5With re7 I’d sort of narrate what I was doing or going to do, anything game related to fill up sound. I really don’t like horror music/sounds.
ID: gvscncrYeah I just play without headphones and far away on a controller for less scare factor
ID: gvtf7zwHearing the (witches?) yelling, echoing off the walls so it sounded like they were all around you, that freaked me out! I think my favorite use so far with the 3D audio is the sensation that I got when the fat merchant was talking, it really sounded like he was booming his voice in a small echo-y room.
ID: gvsdx9cThis comment only makes me more hype lol
ID: gvsm6sxI hate that I fucking love scary ass games.

this reminds me wayy more of the spencer mansion than the baker estate, They killed it with the atmosphere

Is it recommended to play RE 7 before this one comes out?
I'm near the end in 7 but have not finished it.
ID: gvtocs5Is it necessary? No but I definitely think you should because the context of the ending of RE7 will make it better 🙂 + RE 7 is great and not too long
ID: gvtp02gI'm trying to finish it right now. I'm at the pier section where I can finally make the serum. Hopefully I can get through it. Last time I played was in 2017 lol according to my save.

I was wondering about this. This is good to hear. I might have it on from the start now. Even if it's not locked at 60FPS, 50-55 or so is still solid.
-
Because the maiden demo was running at native 4k(according to DF) while this castle demo is probably checkerboarded 4k which means half the vertical resolution.
ID: gvt941sNot accurate. PS4 Pro is the one running checkerboard 4k. PS5 even in RT is actually still native 4k by default but here's where it gets confusing. Its Dynamic native 4k with checkerboard...
So basically for the most part PS5 RT on is running native 4k. When FPS dips, dynamic part kicks in, in which it lowers the resolution to keep frames up. But instead of just showing you that lower resolution, that lower resolution is actually reconstructed back to 4k so you barely see any difference in real time. It happens too fast that you're not really going to notice a difference between that native 4k and reconstructed one.
But yeah its not just checkerboard 4k..

Can't wait!

Removed the aiming acceleration and made it a bit more sensitive. WAY BETTER.
-
I went in knowing nothing. I fully expected 30fps, looked great at an unlocked 60.
-
Remember all the fucking rumours that it ran like shit on PS5 but the mighty all-powerful Series X breeze past it like nothing and needed no optimisations cause it had 1,5 tflops more... LOL
-
I thought the performance was great. It’s noticeably a step up from PS4.
ID: gvsisdfYou would hope so considering the PS4 is 8 year old hardware

ID: gvrytifThat’s what I thought too but it runs at an unlocked frame rate up to 60fps. Capcom says 45fps because it’s not as consistent as the non RT mode which does not dip from 60fps really at all. Digital Foundry has a great video about it but to sum it up the FPS in RT and non RT goes up to 60fps
ID: gvryn38Average 45 but hopefully stays at 60. Too t ppl would compassion if it was labeled 60 and tent perfectly maintain that. But 45 at mostly 60 youth drops is easier to forgive.
ID: gvrz7j7It's not average 45 fps either, 45 is the low point. DigitalFoundry and VGTech both found the raytracing mode to largely stick to 60 fps. Frame states from VGTech's test:
ID: gvt08s3İt's not average 45 fps. It's mostly 60 fps

Everything about it was great except the FOV which honestly made me really sick :/ I think I'm going to have to get this one on PC and hope for FOV mods unless they add a slider.
ID: gvu1rzsIt made me sick too. Turn off camera wobble, its better that way
ID: gvt9a0dWasn't too bad for me, but then again I game far away from my TV. I'm sure that's why the FOV is that way to begin with for console players anyways. They don't expect us to be on a desk 2 feet away from out TV's. PC's have FOV sliders because most of the time you are that close to the monitor and low FOV would make you sick in that situation yeah.

RT off looked completely fine to me. I see no reason to have it on. In fact there was one shiny glass cabinet where there was no RT either mode.
ID: gvu1ovbI actually cant tell where RT was even used tbh
-
I think they downgraded it a little bit. The castle demo compared to the Maiden demo, when I revisited the same areas in the castle, I saw a notable difference. Still looks good though.
ID: gvs5haoI notice less lighting effects in this demo, is darker than the maiden one
ID: gvs9n23RT mode lighting will look different AFAIK
ID: gvsuawwI felt the opposite, the castle environments felt less game-y to me this time around, the lighting in general felt more natural and less in your face.
ID: gvtfgkzWas the lighting different between the two demos that showed off the castle? Or am I just misremembering?

ID: gvs9hayBecause it's a cross-gen game that has to run on the original Xbox One.
ID: gvs9601I think this game looks better than DS. It's gorgeous on my OLED.
ID: gvs85ovThis is still a semi last gen game
ID: gvsc60qDS is exclusive to current gen whereas RE is limited by older hardware
-
How do you turn in 60fps? Just turn off ray tracing?
ID: gvsalt5Both modes target 60 fps.
ID: gvsat0cMfer. So I turned off ray tracing for no reason LOL

Was pretty slick on the ps4 too. Very optimistic about this game.

Audio is superb and i will probably be avoiding playing with headphones because it was just too much for me to handle.
It’s weird i can watch horror films and nothing scares me. But i struggle to get through basic horror games.
