- After playing FF14 my goal of getting all main lines is complete! (For the most part)
-
After getting into FF14 via a steam summer sale and falling in love with the game I got interested with the various collabs this game had with the previous mainline games. Due to these said collabs I delved further from only listening to songs occasionally, and with that I decided that I wanted to collect every mainline game to play and experience for myself as a blind newcomer to this franchise. I am excited to experience all 15 games and the wonders that many others have got to before me! At some point I would like to purchase and only the original console versions of each game, but that will come with time and with that I am excited to explore the world of Final Fantasy even further and become my own Warrior of Light!

Be sure to grab FF Tactics if you get a chance. Many dont consider it part of the main title series bc its not numbered, but my god it has the best story of any FF easily (in my humble opinion anyways) and is my favorite by a long shot.
The gameplay turns a lot of folks off bc the battles are like chess with a big FF twist, but I thoroughly enjoyed the battles, so at least give it a shot.
FFT War of the lions is a psp remake where they overhauled the cutscenes and added a little voice acting during them, and also added a few extra characters, but war of the lions is still the same game as the original FFT and not a continuation of the story.
Anyways, good luck on the journey, the non mmo titles are like reading a captivating book. It'll consume you if you let it, but the emotional return of investment is real.
ID: gwwy8qpI still haven’t played FF Tactics despite being a big fan of both Final Fantasy and Shining Force (I’d also never played a Fire Emblem until Three Houses). I bought the PSP version for my Vita but haven’t got round to it yet
ID: gwwncerFFT = best FF
ID: gwxoh1hDoes it have a better story than Shadowbringers?
ID: gwxqeojI will definitely do my best to obtain it then! I heard good things, and I do enjoy the tactical gameplay coming from an Advance Wa
Emblem background myself, so it has interest meID: gwyfe0zRather than FFVII universe, I wish they expand more about ivalice

I always felt like Tactics made more sense to be part of the mainline numbered series than the MMO ones (XI and XIV). At least the consistency of a single-player experience would feel more cohesive in defining the mainline series.

I love that you resolved to play their original international releases. Most of the earlier games I played were the gba or psp releases. Be sure to check out ff7r also!
-
I can't recommend you pick up Tactics and its sequels (A and A2) enough.
Tactics is an absolute masterpiece of writing and A and A2 have incredible charm and world setting.
-
May as well get Chrono Cross now that you also have Chrono Trigger!
ID: gwxqzk8Oh definitely, I got a good quarter into Trigger when I emulated it years and loved it but then lost all the data when I got a new pc, so I would like to go through it again especially with cross being available
-
I would also recommend playing FFIII for FFXIV reasons.
-
ffxi rise of zilart ,chains of promathia and the new rhapsodies are quite good are often overlooked cause of mmo but there combo of stories and ost is still unbeaten for me.

I still feel a bit burned by FFXI. I played at the NA launch. Sank 200 hours into it and felt like I accomplished a whole lot of nothing.
Thanks to how it distributed players across severs, none of my friends were on mine and it was incredibly difficult to get a reliable party. I realize this changed as the game went on, but the game was so punishing it turned me off. I remember getting ganked by an enemy 5 or 6 levels under me because my thief rolled 20 misses out of 25 attacks and the mob kept critical hitting. Lost two hours of grinding over that.
If there's one to skip, it's XI.
ID: gwwlsx5Apparently they have made massive QOL improvements to the game over the last 20 (!) years. I also played at launch and did not get very far for similar reasons. I know some people that are getting back into it now though, and they say it’s much better than it was at launch.
ID: gwwzhsjTwo hours lost is nothing in FFXI. I played it for 10 years. At least 20-30 hours a week. It’s the single most grindy game I’ve ever played. Totally second skipping it, despite it holding some of my best gaming memories. If you like to be really good at games/max stuff out/experience everything you will be at it for years in XI even with them raising the level caps which makes a lot of stuff much easier.
ID: gwxwzoyFFXI is my favorite game, and I never had problems like that. Though I only started playing a few years ago after all the updates. The game has a really good story and fun combat.
ID: gwxrduwMaybe just because I started late and had a friend guide me, but it has the charm that I like from it and music is pretty good! Funny dialogue/interactions that I like from it as well

13 ,13-2 and lightning returns, even that I played them after playing ff7 remake I liked them more than ff7 remake.
-
Ewwwwww...greatest hits?
-
3 is one that I’ll never finish but I’ve done all the others
-
That’s pretty impressive. One personal recommendation I have is when you get to paying FFV, don’t play the PS1 version. I would recommend the a version based on the GBA translation, as it’s vastly superior to the PS1 translation. I’m also partial to the GBA translation of VI but that one is more of a matter of taste, as the original translation was fine
ID: gwwvdb5Do you know what platform I can play the GBA FFV if I don’t have a GBA?
-
For FFV I highly recommend either the GBA port or the mobile/pc port simply for the fun translation alone. The FFV translation in the PS1 version is a little bland in comparison.

The Stack.

FF14 is the best and most complete FF in the series but I would never have time to ever play it again. I loved those days
-
Do people consider Mystic Quest aka Final Fantasy Mystic Quest of the SNES era to be FF as well, it was my first rpg as a kid and got me into FF7
-
It's not Final Fantasy but Chrono Trigger is part of FF Chronicles and it is SO good. It is well worth your time!
-
I never finished FF3 (FF6 in Japan).
It still haunts me, more than 20 years later...
-
Final fantasy tactics???
-
I have 2, 3 and 10 left to go. I gotta figure out how to play 11

As of now I am currently playing Final Fantasy 4 for FF14 reasons, and FF11 due to my MMO background of 14 but once I finish 4 I will be going in number order! (I am excited to try out 6/9/10)
