The red square looks like an HP Omen diamond. It even says HP PN on the lower sticker...

It also seems like this design deviates from the single fan reference card shown on slides by amd.

Cheaper GPUs often do not have reference cards (even if render is shown). Hopefully that is not the case with N23 though, as no reference card would mean no direct buy at MSRP from AMD.

ID: gyxq4vc

They often don't have reference cards shipping to DIY, but there's always a reference board and occasionally a reference cooler sent to OEMs for use in pre-builts.

130w sounds like too optimistic for 5700XT performance level

ID: gyybu8i

considering the clock speed "leaks". It looks like its going to be as pushed as the 6700XT is to get to its performance target. Thats practically the reason why 6700XT is so inefficient. I wouldnt be surprised if 6600XT is 150-180W

ID: gyxxp04

Yes, judging from the specs, it would have to be much more efficient than N21-N22, while being clocked higher- which does not happen. The 130W number is probably for TGP, while TBP should be >150W.

ID: gyxttvp

Does it? 5700XT uses ~220W and RDNA2 uses half as much energy as RDNA1 at the same performance. Even if the power draw of memory and VRMs doesn't change, 130 or maybe 150W could be possible.

ID: gyy14ez

It does not use half the energy, that's not how relative fractions work.

It generally has 50% better efficiency, and the higher end cards had a better performance per watt ratio relative to the 5700xt, which was 225w).

A card with 50% better efficiency that performs the same as 5700xt would use 1/1.5 the power, which is equal to 1/3 less power. That would put it at 150 watts. That being said i don't think the 6600xt will have the 50% efficiency gain, but we'll see.

If the 6600 series cards end being <130W it would be interesting to have a 6700 non-XT around 180W.

We know from power scaling tests that the efficiency sweetspot is around 150-180W.

ID: gyy1012

Yea I am confused, I don’t get where the 130w is coming from and I have a hard time believing it. If the 6600xt is clocked around 2600mhz, the core would be at 1.2v just like the 6700xt. At 80% of the cores I am expecting a 160 to 170w power consumption. Maybe the core will ship at 1.15v but more than 2.6 ghz at that voltage would be very impressive and I am doubtful.

ID: gyyih0b

Wasn't 2600MHz the maximum value accepted by the VBIOS? I don't know if the card would come with 2600 frequency out of the box.

Finally... a good fucking successor to the 2048 shader Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition / R9-280X...

This card is probably getting announced at Computex on June 1st allongside the 6600.

I sure hope these are priced under 300$.

I sure hope these are priced under 300$.

I do to but im expecting the worst.

130W does seem low, but it's actually plausible.

Taking the 6800XT which is a 4608core/16GB/256bit card at 2250mhz and 250W and cutting everything in half results in a 2304/8GB/128bit card at 125W.

Comparing it to the "6600XT" with 2048/8GB/128bit which is quite close.

But more accurately. You have 1.125x lower cores, but 1.19x higher frequency. (assuming same voltages which is possible due to the smaller die), you should expect ~6% more power which lands you around 133W.

But the likely numbers would be around 140-150W unless the card happens to clock this high at LOWER voltages than the NAVI21 and 22 SKUs

6800XT is 300W, not 250W card.

What is Linux compatibility with AMD dGPUs? Is it better than with Nvidia?

ID: gyz9twi

Much, much better simply because the drivers are all open source and integrated into the kernel. In turn, this means you dont have to deal with DKMS which is a big quality of life upgrade.

+1 to previous comment. Linux user? AMD or Intel for GPU.

9 : Anonymous2021/05/21 17:52 ID: gyyuwoj

Has there been any news/rumors about the 6700?

10 : Anonymous2021/05/21 12:35 ID: gyxq9lo

Hope it is priced under $1,000!

11 : Anonymous2021/05/21 13:01 ID: gyxt1fq

Who cares. Won’t be in stock

12 : Anonymous2021/05/21 18:55 ID: gyz34m0

I haven't cared less about a GPU rumor in years. I used to waste time at work browsing any rumors for GPU performance targets.

Now I'm just hoping next gen doesn't have these supply problems.

Meh boring, not gonna be available anyway.

Damn this a rare picture guys, look at it while you still can.

xbox series s levels of performance?

16 : Anonymous2021/05/21 23:53 ID: gz03dj7

It took AMD over 10 years to get 7970 specs down to a midrange card...
