- Resident Evil 7 Ethan's Car is a Dodge Challenger 1970 Being a Nod to the Vanishing Point Movie
-
Ethan's car is now just a lump of burnt metal in Baker's garage.
ID: gz2nhhcID: gz2wmysMight wanna spoiler tag that last part
ID: gz3s40zthat's a big leap there buddy. that plot point was not thought up till re8, it's retro actively jammed in the plot to 7 there is no deep reference to a random movie in there.

Nice car, Ethan!
-
Took me from release until this years playthrough (roughly 3 times) to notice that Jack picks up his car and places it in his garage.
ID: gz2pce1How do you reckon that?
ID: gz3e4tvThe car looks like Ethans and I don't think it was present in the Daughter's dlc, meaning they had to have acquired it after their infection

With the color of the Evil Dead car
ID: gz2n9clWell its actually a post process effect, the source material has a white colour.
ID: gz2rwdqAh yes. The apolitical color.

It’s not a perfect match for either, but Ethan’s car also might be inspired by Sam Raimi’s Delta 88 (seen in his movies, ie Evil Dead)
-
Idk if they intended his car as a reference to anything but thats not a 70 challenger its a 71 judging from the grill
-
Nice car, Ethan!

Nice car, Ethan!

Audioslave will show Ethan how to live.
-
What a Chad
-
How is it a nod to vanishing point? It's the same car, but there is nothing about it that makes any sense as a vanishing point reference specifically. The car is also in Resident Evil 3 (most likely because of asset reuse).
ID: gz42weyYea, but it was a orange as a nod to the Dukes of Hazard /s

Man. Sometimes I wonder why there are so many ugly and boring looking cars.
When you can make cool looking ones like this.
-
I never knew that! Cool find. I've seen the original and the remake. Enjoyed both.
-
Resident Evil 7 Ethan drives a car being nod to fast and furious franchise
-
I can’t believe I never picked up on this! Awesome find and an even more awesome movie!
-
Whats the movie about
ID: gz32247Its about delivering the car from point A to point B. There is not much to tell, but to avoid spoiling I would tell you to watch it.
ID: gz33m7xAnyplace to watch it for free
-
By far the most heart-wrenching death in an RE game. RIP, you beautiful car.
-
Wouldn’t that be a Charger in ‘70?
ID: gz42f07Its a Challenger, movie was made in 1971, at that time it was brand new fresh model.
-
Correlation is no causation. Just because they both have Dodge Challengers in it does not mean anything. It may have been a nod if Jack called Ethan Kowalski at one point, or refenced the plot from the movie like pointing at the car and saying " Well Ethan I bet you could drive from Denver to San Francisco in under 15 hours in this!". Unfortunately this is not the case.

Well its an interesting fact, because in Vanishing Point the Kowalski dies in an explosion by driving into a roadblock, kind of foreshadowing that Ethan's car is blown up and he himself also died in RE7.
