Having a 300Hz display... but relying on discrete to integrated GPU copies ... reeks of bad engineering. If this had a 60Hz-120Hz display it would be kind of whatever since it would freesync well anyway.

MUX chips cost "money" is what asus would say

Is that the same laptop Linus used for reviewing it?

Yes, a bunch of reviewers got this laptop.

assus being bribed by nvidia to sabotage be like...

Furthermore, he discovered that the discrete GPU (Radeon RX 6800M) is also underperforming because the display signal is routed through the integrated graphics.

Isn't this how NVIDIA's Optimus also works?

Yes, however there are many gaming laptops that feature a multiplexer switch (MUX switch) that allows the user to bypass the iGPU and connect the internal display directly to the discrete graphics. This typically requires a reboot of the laptop to switch.

This provides the same sort of performance improvements as an external display connected to an output on the laptop that is wired directly to the discrete graphics.

ASUS seems to be choosing to forego MUX switches on their gaming laptops. This was one of the main factors I went with a Tongfang ODM design (Infinity W5-5R7R7N) rather than a Strix G15 with otherwise the same specs.

Depends on the laptop, but for many it is.

OEMs which add a Mux switch can bypass this.

Does anyone know when the HP Omen 16 advantage will launch and at what price point?

That got me worried. Just checked my timmings and it is worse than his newer RAM.

My tSTAG is 210, isn't it REALLY high?

I'd like to reference this comment of another user who had bad experience with ASUS+AMD dGPU before:

/comments/nm31b/gzn7z4s?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3" class="reddit-press-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener">https://www.reddit.com//comments/nm31b/gzn7z4s?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

So the question is...? Are they messing it up again?

I mean the numbers still look pretty solid (after the RAM replacement)

What is tSTAG? Mine is at 187!

Hoping that other partners can introduce a mux switch of sorts for this, along with getting better RAM

I will be buying the g17 version if the price and reviews look good
