- Control for FREE on Epic Games
-
Oh man. I tried playing this on the PS4 as it was free but I just can't get into it. I hope orhers can enjoy it.
ID: h1agd5dID: h1aw35lYeah, but then it largely seems to be the same for the next 20 hours with minor enhancements and powerups (throw larger chunks and more chunks at once, dashing inbetween throwing chunks and shooting… throwing mobs once in awhile instead of chunks…)
Not a bad game by any means, but very repetitive for casual play.
ID: h1b3z6jThe last third of the game is just horrid. Really good up until then though
ID: h1b14rkThe PS4 version is laggy as all hell, but it's good. I was lucky enough to get the PS5 version which runs much better.
ID: h1bhp6mLikewise. I just could not motivate myself to continue on with it.
ID: h1byx5gSane here, it just didnt click with me. Got pretty bored after a while. Wasnt gripped by the story at all. Its a shame because I loved Alan Wake, and thought Quantum Break was actually decent.

Lol I remember when this came out and I really wanted to buy it but I knew it would be free one day and here it is
ID: h1b6ynpsugma mindset
ID: h1b9r7xWhat's sugma?
Sugma balls!

Literally... Take. Control. Right now!
-
The game came out August 27, 2019 but it feels like it just came out a couple months ago. This is still very soon to see it available for free, even from the likes of the Vbucks people with their bottomless pockets.
This is the exact kind of thing that highlights why I stopped buying games years ago unless I planned to play them immediately. They don't seem to hold value at all and will be heavily discounted within weeks, if not days, and many times they end up being free like this after a relatively short wait.
ID: h1aw94jNintendo Switch owners tend to not have that problem. Game is 5 years old? Expect to pay full price anyway unless its 20% off for Christmas.
ID: h1b441620% on a 1st party Nintendo title? Oh boy, where can i sign in for it?
ID: h1bm86hPeople buy games without intending to play them immediately?
The fuck
-
If I "claim" it today is do I keep it forever or just a limited time? Thanks.

I really enjoyed Control but I felt like it got amped up to 11 during the Ashtray Maze.
That was awesome
ID: h1bdcodAshtray Maze was the best part of the game.
The rest of the game was alright, but it felt pretty tame most of the time, and the Maze really turned it up for a bit.
ID: h1bo1l6That part was so fucking badass. It should’ve been the finale. The actual finale was kinda anticlimactic
-
Boring game couldn't finish it... And the map.... Who's idea was to make multi floor map in 2d....some good gimmicks but boring at the end of the day. Yet I can see why some people like it
ID: h1c5p9iI agree. Sometimes the map was annoying and misleading. I got stuck in certain areas a few times and just kept wondering around thinking to myself what the hell am I doing wrong.
-
Just wanted to share that this is such an amazing game, every aspect. Its one of those ones you remember playing for a very long time.
-
Wish my PC wasn’t ass so I could actually enjoy this. Missed out on it on PS4 a few months back.
ID: h1ao4r0It's free. Just grab it now and play it later when you have a better rig.

If you like to fight the same repetitive enemies and bosses over and over and over this is the game for you!
ID: h1bft5cIf you don't like that, maybe you've never liked a video game ever.
ID: h1btst7but it is true tho, the biggest flaw in this game is lack of enemy variation
-
Control is awesome. Everyone needs to play control (if you like that type of genre of course)
-
LOVE this game! The final act of the story was exhilarating
-
The game is amazing. I highly recommend it for anyone who hasn't played it yet.
-
Thanks for the info
-
I honestly can’t recommend this game enough. It’s incredible.
-
When you need to show off your awards desperately almost everywhere.
-
Not a fan of this game at all
-
I rather pay 40 on steam lol
ID: h1bml72It sounds like you're really familiar with the hatred toward Epic Games Store. Do you mind if I ask you a few things about it? I've tried to get to the bottom of what the big issues are with Epic, and most of the Redditors that I've talked to about it just lead me around in circles, or insist that I "do my own research" which is just another way of saying "i don't know the answer to your question".
If not, it's completely fine, I just thought it would be nice to talk to someone who actually knows what they're talking about, for once.
ID: h1buotaFor me, I just don't want another store front. Steam and GOG are enough. I have way to many games that I haven't played yet that I can pass up on free games like this. If it was a game I really wanted, I would already have it.
If I remember correctly, they also had paid exclusives when they launched, which I didn't really appreciate, so that stench still lingers.
ID: h1buc4vBasically Epic Games Store is Chinese Spyware once you download it.
Epic has also introduced the concept of exclusive titles on their platform, which is supposed to be one of the biggest reasons to get into PC gaming: no exclusives. Basically you’re forced to use their platform which isn’t as intuitive as Steam.
And last but not least, there is a lot of hatred for Fortnite which is Epic Games’ cash cow.
ID: h1alx26Very strange
ID: h1bcjh9Fanboyism about game stores. A new level of cringeness
-
Fuck! EPIC really want root access to our PCs. It's just getting weird, now.
ID: h1arel2What?
-
I'm tempted to claim this, but it's the base version and I'd rather wait to get the Ultimate Edition in a couple weeks for 20 bucks.
ID: h1bgfgqThe Ultimate Edition is $16 on GoG right now.
ID: h1apunyYou could just claim this anyways considering it’s free though?
ID: h1afsa5Just get this and buy the season pass
-
I grabbed it for free on PS+ awhile back, still havent played it.
Apparently its really good though!
-
Tried it on Switch. Too scary. Looks brilliant though.
-
Already have it
It was in a Humble Choice
I don't have Epic

Best video game story from IGN?

The premise is very solid, the mystery is good, the design and gameplay is all fun and the graphics on a 4k TV look absolutely stunning ...but the story is very front heavy, and if you play in disconnected spirts it's easy to lose track of what's going on. The middle part of the story has absolutely nothing going on and the gameplay while fun, becomes boring and without verity.
Its one of the few cases where I'd say the game is distinctly too long.
-
Eh, tbh it's one of my favourite games over the last few years - it actually held my attention long enough for me to complete it, but get bored or most games after 8 or 10 hours or so.
So opinions may vary.
-
Buy the Ultimate Edition if you want the DLC or else you'll never have it.
-
Has to be the third time I've seen it for free...still not interested, particularly with Polygon saying its good.
-
I've enjoyed it, not that my endorsement means much of anything, but there you go.

It sort of opens up once you start developing your powers and exploring the fucking weird world.
