Should RE Village be considered a numbered title?
It is implied that it’s the numbered 8 in the series but it’s hidden within the title. Should it just be considered like a main game but not numbered like Code Veronica?
I had to ask because if you’re a newbie going in to the game I would assume it would be very confusing.
If they went with another numbered title after Village, won’t that confuse the newcomers more? If RE 9 came after Village their probable question would be “Where’s 8?”
I mean it’s not like the game is called “Resident Evil 8: Village” it’s just… Village.
Would this imply that main titles moving forward will NOT be numbered anymore?
It’s such a strange direction IMO.
What are your thoughts regarding this?

It's a numbered title. It's the direct continuation of RE7 and it is called RE8: Village. Capcom are hiding the number and want 'Village' to be the main title, but the number is there.

I mean... Like it or not it is now...
If everyone calls it that that's what it is. Kind of like when Mortal Kombat rebooted itself it was just called Mortal Kombat but everyone knows it as MK 9.

ID: h2xorssWhich literally means it's RE8, because the '8th game in the franchise' can only mean the 8th numbered title in the franchise. Hence, RE8.

I just want to know what they'll call 9 so as to keep the numerals.

They said before that they are moving away from numbered entries which is why 7 and 8 had subtitles but also their roman numeral in their titles. Which is a smart move. So 9 will probably have it's roman numeral in it, but then after that, I expect them to just drop that and go to full subtitles.
