- A Plague Tale Innocence PS5 vs Xbox Series X|S Frame Rate Comparison
-
Amazing game with amazing characters. I really fell into this one. And now that i finished it I miss it. Thats when you know you enjoyed the game, for me anyways.

From the description:
The versions tested were 1.0.0.9 on Xbox and 1.000.000 on PS5. Chromatic Aberration was set to low for this test.
PS5 and Xbox Series X both render at a native resolution of 2560x1440. PS5 and Xbox Series X render the UI at 3840x2160.
Xbox Series S renders at a native resolution of 1600x900 and uses temporal upsampling to reconstruct a 1920x1080 resolution.
PS5 and Xbox Series X have some graphical improvements over the Xbox Series S such as higher quality shadows and an improved draw distance.

ID: h4qh4q9So basically no difference
ID: h4qv9weGood stuff, cheers.
Was expecting the Series S to perform a lil bit better, it was advertised as a 1440p console, right?
-
Great game so far. Really has me on my toes all the time
-
They were advertising 4K, strange that its 1440P and not even checkerboarded 4K?
ID: h4qgpdpMaybe it's 4k in main menu?
ID: h4qdrmqProbably dynamic 4K?
ID: h4qfcndPretty much no different than last gen. It was 1440p there too. At least on the One X.
-
TLDR ?
ID: h4qzgurTLDR: People would rather argue about resolution and framerate than just playing and enjoying the game for its gameplay
ID: h4quvmmIt’s the same

I feel bad for anyone that bought the "1440p" Series S.
ID: h4qe6sbThe series S just doesn't seem like it's worth the price most of the time. That being said, I suspect it wasn't intended to appeal to Western Markets but more to East Asian Markets where technology (especially India) can be really expensive.
ID: h4qvc6bIf you're into retrogaming, the Series S's dev mode can give you some really cool firepower with RetroArch. The $299 price tag starts looking a lot juicier when the catalogue of available games extends to the PS2 and nearly every system that came before it.
ID: h4qefaqIts good for people who want a cheap system, but I fear that xbox series x won't reach its potential because they will have to take into consideration the series s when moving forward
ID: h4qfjs1It's failing, if that is its purpose. It doesn't seem to be doing well outside the U.S.
ID: h4r38d3A bit stupid really I’m an Indian and on Xbox but India has so much brand royalty towards Sony (probably on the level if we combined Nintendo and Sony in Japan)
ID: h4qyt2kOr for a lot of westerners where £450 is just simply too expensive. They might be on a lower income, have families to support, not play enough to justify the price, or simply not care if it doesn't have the highest framerate as long as it plays the games
ID: h4qqzx1Definitely not 1440p in a lot of games but in most games it hits 1080p60. Anything lower is just poor optimization by devs as shown here, even the Series X and PS5 don't get a native 4K.
ID: h4qmoqcThat reduced RAM is really harming the performance of otherwise good budget hardware, if it had similar RAM pool to that of series X or PS5 then it would definitely do 1440p 30FPS and 1080p 60FPS in most majority of the titles...that would have been perfect for people with 1080p or 1440p TVs
ID: h4qnk80If it at least had the same amount of RAM as One X it could play games with its enhancements, but it has 2GB less.
ID: h4qtrbkEh, got myself a cheap secondhand one a good chunk less than RRP for my spare room. Was looking for something to stream off of anyway for my 'not-too-smart' TV in there, and it makes for a great indie/gamepass box.
I've always been a PS/Switch/PC gamer so with that I've now completed the loop and don't have to worry about any potential exclusives anywhere anymore. Some of the console-only gamepass titles have been nostalgic also (I've missed Dante's Inferno :D)
But I tend to agree and I wouldn't consider a Series S a good purchase as a lone, primary console. Makes for a decent accompaniment though.
ID: h4qy6vqYeah that sounds fair at a cut down price. I'd lose my mind trying to juggle what, 350GB of usable storage? PS5 is bad enough (and I have a 4TB drive hooked up for PS4 games).
ID: h4qdx2mI really only bought it for game pass. I don’t really care if it’s “true 4K” or not. I’d say it was a pretty good deal for me
ID: h4qgqm2But most of the games on it barely hit 1080p. And with lower IQ and framerates.
I'm not shitting on your enjoyment, but I wouldn't have one of those things if you were paying me.
ID: h4qio0nOr the "4K" Series X and PS5 using that logic.
ID: h4qmifhWell it really comes down to optimization. Gears 5 looks better than plague and runs at 1440 60fps
Even 120fps 1080.
When FSR is implemented i think it can even do 4k.
And maybe 8k for series x and ps5.
It is literally the cheapest console to ever release at 300$ in history. Adjusted to inflation of course.
ID: h4qynw8I don't. I just think they should've advertised it as a 1080p console, not 1440p
For people who don't care about framerate and are on a limited budget, it's a fine little machine
-
No wonder the image looks soft on my 4K TV, it's not even 4K like advertised
ID: h4qma2gI was really struggling with how it looked on my 4K monitor until I turned chromatic aberration down to low. Much sharper now.
ID: h4qzvvlThis! Can't believe how much blur this adds.
ID: h4qifelThey consider anything above 1080p “4K” nowadays…lmao.
ID: h4r5lepYep and anything that runs at say at least 31fps they say "targeting 60fps"
ID: h4qzf5qTurning the chromatic aberration on this game helps it not look as soft. Try that
-
Finish the game yesterday, really like it, I was a bit down when it became a more "surreal" thing (I didn't know anything about the game before playing it) but still really like it.

Do any of y’all have both the Series X and PlayStation 5?
Curious which one y’all use for your home/main console? Like for third-party games, ex: CoD
Edit: I’m torn which one to use as my home console. All my friends have PlayStation, don’t know anyone with an Xbox. But I think the Xbox runs some games at higher-res? Not sure if it’s noticeable though or if it’s worth it to use that as the main just for that reason. PlayStation games also have adaptive triggers.
ID: h4r9e0aI have both a series x and ps5. Ps5 is my main due to the superior controller. I only use Xbox for exclusives.
ID: h4r3l8hXbox for their exclusives and some Game Pass games, rest PS5

ID: h4r5wlxSeries X is my home console, especially with Game Pass, and PS5 is for exclusives.

Regardless of the technicals, I played through this a while back on the PS4 (Pro I think). It was an amazing game. Really cool, nice story, good pace, fun puzzles and such. Recommended highly. Hoping for more from these devs.
I mention this cause so many people get hung up on numbers. Heck I thoroughly enjoyed God of War. Apparently it was 30fps. As if I cared tbh, was still amazeballs. And I have a PC with 144hz display and a GPU to drive it so not like I don't know the differences.
-
The game needs a 3080 to play at native 4K. I know because I played it at native 4K at 70-100 FPS. There was no way they could have gotten 4K on the PS5
ID: h4qo5u6It was 4K, 60fps with room to spare with a 2080ti according ACG's review 2 years ago.
ID: h4qp76fIsn't there a remastered version or is that just a console thing?
ID: h4r5x6kInteresting what are the advanced graphic settings you use.
-
Is there a blur comparison test…
-
mark cerny designed an amazing piece of tech. It holds up pretty well without all those buzzwords and "true rdna 2".
-
Why can't this game get 8k like it says Ps5 can do. This game is old and should be accelerated with the next gen graphics power and lightning SSD?
-
The PS5 can output 8K, no games will be available at 8K. 4K is generally out of reach without upscaling, 8K just won't happen.
-
Lmao 8K is nowhere near possible on the PS5 right now. That moniker was such an unnecessary thing to put on the box…
-
The 8k was added to somewhat future proof it for future upgrades in video streaming i.e. Netflix, Disney plus etc. It's nearly impossible to run almost any game at 8k currently regardless of what you're using. It will be generations before even most high end video cards can do it reliably without incredible optimization from the game. However 8K streaming and TV tech will reach a critical mass in the market well before that.
-
Ps5 has no 8k games. Hell the only game above 4 k is an Xbox exclusive.
