I get why they opted for using specific backgrounds for the games you highlight, and it was pretty hype when I first used my ps5.

But the novelty has worn off for me to the point I'd very much rather have a static theme like this. Hopefully they introduce the option soon

The novelty hasn’t worn off for me because it’s still such a pleasant surprise when done right. I love it when games use the new PS5 UI to the fullest extent. Astro, Spider-Man Remastered (I assume the original as well), Miles Morales… they have nice, new backgrounds specifically for the menu with new music. The music plays into the theme of the game while also not being too loud and obnoxious to the point that it doesn’t fit as menu music. They aren’t too loud. It’s generally a simple background music. Even Miles Morales’s pop background in the PS5 menu isn’t too in-your-face. It’s perfect.

Fortnite used the PS5 menu really well with an original arrangement of the theme and great background banners for each season (though they are always a bit behind for most of the season for some reason).

I wish more games would do this. I’m not asking for a ton. I don’t need every game to have a new background for the PS5 menu. But at least put some music, ya know?

Even the Uncharted games did it nicely.

I gotta say, this Summer Sale is pretty damn great. I just got Disco Elysium, Metro Exodus, Gravity Rush Remastered, and Gris for $50 total. I’m a happy camper right now.

It’s definitely rough in the beginning but I started to get pretty into it. It’s janky but its immersive and has the best haptics I’ve experienced so far (outside of Astro).
