- Sniper scavs either cant hit a barn or they are Chis Kyle there is no in-between.

My theory is - if they insta-prone when they spot you, the AI is turned to "aimbot 9000"
If they just crouch or keep standing/whatever, and shoot - it's whatever other "normal" AI
ID: h6iswqcID: h6itfeyAlong this line of thought, we have recoil control modifiers for crouch/prone on pmc. Maybe they tried to implement that somehow onto scavs, which don't aim but roll hit dice to see if they strike you. Maybe they have a better to-hit modifier when crouching and even greater advantage when laying down? #Conspiracy
I've created an Issue post for this possibility, please comment or upvote if you think we're on to something here.

This would make sense if they get a modifier while proned . It's probably just too good
which don't aim but roll hit dice to see if they strike you.
The whole time they've been secretly playing DnD with our lives
I think I'd prefer it if they were this dangerous but only if they actually see you. And also not changing stances...
The drop proning is fucking ridiculous. Kneeling makes sense. If I see them kneel, I at least know they're entering terminator mode.
Especially the drop proning only to stand up and run away, gets me every time
If they can only see your head, they will hit your head. This is how all scavs work, from what ive seen
The game is random rolling a hit based on the available hit boxes in view. The more hit boxes in view, the more likely you take a landed shot to a non-lethal part of your body. When fighting scavs it’s always best to swing your entire body into view for this exact reason. Don’t peek your head, as it then becomes the only available hit box and if the random roll lands on “hit” then you get one-tapped.
Is this your theory or you got a source from the devs or something?
this logic carries over to pmc’s as well. iirc in the army in wwii in the trenches they taught soldiers to body peek so the return fire would be less fatal
Are you talking out of your ass conjecturing or do you have some proof? This sounds like wild reddit claim to me
Yes. This is why it is always better to peak with full body than to lean out and expose only head. Scavs have a % chance to hit regardless of how much/what body parts are shown. If they roll percent to hit then it’s whatever body parts are visible. If it’s only your head, it defaults to hitting only the head.
The AI shoots at the first thing that it sees, but accuracy is dependent on the scav type. That's why you should never peek raiders with a lean (ie, your head first) and always your full body -- they will shoot your arms or legs.
Yeah this is it. Never peak a raider or boss. Just walk into the open and blast them
My favorite is when running with my duo. Hey gets domed. Super far away. I kill the scav back later when I'm closer and an like cool I'm going to run to his body and get whatever scope he used to dome my buddy.
Get there and he doesn't even have a scope... Just them iron sights
Everytime a scav fires at you:
"Thank god he just had a FAL with m61s, if it would be stockless, russian shotgun at 20/100 durability loaded with 7mm buckshot we would all be dead"
Shotgun scavs are nightmare fuel
It's as if they either hit, or they miss
The fact that the shot is mid transition from prone to crouch is what really gets me
You should see the scavs that tag and curse chase you. They Killa slide and shoot.
50/50
Idk man they’re pretty much always Chris Kyle for me
Its because BSG can't make an AI, scavs are just literally aimbots. they see you, choose a limb at random, and then pull the trigger which makes it VERY dangerous to peak them as it just leaves your head and arm to choose from.
Are you telling me that Scavs have VATS?
And the Mysterious Stranger perk, thats how they get you even though you think you got around the corner or into cover.
Vats.... if it never missed. you can see how bad it is with slug shotgun scavs, try full sprinting past one with no cover offline and every shot will be a hit, they seem to have programmed reduced priority to target the chest to get around body armor to.
That is why being prone near a scav is a death sentence, they will lock onto your head as they see nothing else first
You know the shelf room next to the green screen room on customs? I got snipershot through the one small window in that room after a zero aggro game once 🙂
Very immersive getting one shot drop shotted by some drunk slav hobo from 100 meters away.
A head peak angle is a bad idea when fighting the scavs
Ye 100% this... learnt this lesson the hard way 😀
Yeah all the real tarkov fans will tell you that this is tarkov, this is supposed to be hard, you should be afraid of scavs, bla bla bla.
I just think this is complete bullshit and bad game design. Scavs should be able to kill you, of course, but I don't think they should be able to head shot us with the very first shot. That is all.
If they just chilled proned out and head shotted you first shot that would be annoying but realistic, when they do the moving shots that’s what pisses me off cause it’s almost impossible to hit them while they go from standing to prone to crouch all in 2 seconds and shoot you in between that
Scavs already take a while to shoot after seeing you. Don't play like a doof and you'll be fine. OP went waddling off to the middle of an open area, then stood still and gave the scav plenty of time to see him (through the razor wire and a bit after).
Scavs already take a while to shoot after seeing you
That depends on SCAV "level". And in vary from complete morons to almost Raider-like skill. And there is no indication of who you gonna get - a moron or a raider. The only thing is that the later you are in raid, the better SCAVs tend to be.
I learned quickly to basically just not peek if a scav sniper has aggro'd. Just let them calm down a bit and then pop them.
Remember you're trying to outshoot a computer that has to be programmed to not kill you in a pseudo-convincing way.
"If a scav goes prone, you're goin home"
I’ve noticed that when I’m standing still and ADSing that I also tend to give easy headshots to an AI that was told to shoot me in the head
Yea they are told to shoot mid animation as well lmao
that’s a glitch with movement though, not it’s aim. However, I do agree that scavs should act like they’re playing tarkov not dropshotting like this shit is COD. Also, I wasn’t even paying attention to the scav the first time around I just thought you meant it shouldn’t have hit you.
He's aiming at you and counting down as soon as your head was past that wall, ignoring the barbed wire. You have to contend with the wire
There’s definitely an in between.
Scavs either cant hit anything, or lie about shooting people from the super dome, lie about getting carjacked, and have a total mental breakdown then off themselves on the shooting range?
Damn dude. BSG is really making the Scav AI realistic.
Bad taste joke #332084. Ill take my downvotes and go.
I didn't know that last part, is that alleged?
Not even alleged. Blatantly wrong. Chris Kyle and another guy were popped by one dude who is literally in prison for it. I'm not against pointing out Chris Kyle clearly had some issues and went over some lines, but implying he went crazy and offed himself is awful.
People out here dying to the AI scavs? No wonder there's so much whining on here.
I dont always die to AI scavs, but when I do, they literally spawn behind me in the spot I was just in and scream "WOTON"
BRUH watch the clip
The AI quite clearly has some shit tier % to just kill the player that increases with each shot.
They miss a few then just beam you down 3 shots in a row even if you reposition, it's pathetic.
Let me just walk slowly out in front of the sniper
*gets shot*
*acts surprised*
If he didn’t drop shot me I would be surprised dude
No kidding, sometimes I feel like I walk around them and others I never see the shot.
Recently had a raid where I killed 5 pmcs, sanitar, and his guards. Went to extract at rock passage and before I even saw the sniper scav I got one tapped to the face.
I've noticed that two are spawning on that rock back there now.
I feel this way about ALL scavs though to be honest.
Scav has detected another Mutant user
This is why you always peek Raiders, guards, sniper Scav, etc. with your whole body (usually, good way to get 2 tap thorax by Shturman) instead of minimizing how much you expose yourself.
If the only thing they can see is your head, they will hit it.
I always like to think that the scav's aim is like a big circle at first on your character, and after every shot it's size decreases. either take cover after the first 3 shots or you're bouta get piped by a hung scav.
Show your whole body. The less you show its a more guaranteed hit.
Shot sniper scav right in the chest, and he instantly domed me with with no reaction. Nerf sniper scav
I was on a raid earlier today shooting it out with a scav i had a mosin no scope on it we are exchanging fire prolly 150 meters away and I cant kill this scav so I decide to get closer and hit him with the glock bro turns the corner one shots me like it's nothing lost like 500k gear. Gotta love it
A stationary target is massively easier to hit than a moving one. Even applies to noob shooters. But yeah it’s heavily rng based sometimes
I mean how long do you think you could stare at someone on a roof with a sniper rifle that happened to be looking directly at you
but yeah sometimes they're horse shit
Look at the scav homie he dropshots me, it’s impossible for player to accurately shoot going from prone to crouch so there is zero reason that a scav should be able to do it at 100+ meters
Does being "Chris Kyle" mean that they're dead when they spawn?
Yeah, I've been shooting at scavs then they just drop, I think they're dead, and boom I'm dead.
