- Steam Deck confirmed to be using a Van Gogh APU

Odd that it's reporting 4 logical cores there. I'd expect it to list 8.
ID: h80g65tID: h80jf1qMaybe dropped SMT to emphasize low power and save die space? Full custom designs can do all sorts of wacky stuff compared to what we usually see.
ID: h8105n1Maybe it can be toggled on and off on boot as some games might work better with it off. It would be really weird for them to announce it with 8 logical cores and then not deliver that.
ID: h82pt1nRemoving SMT from the design would be such small savings in die space you'd be climbing a hill to convince anyone it's worth the layout effort.
It also doesn't save or cost power, it draws more power when it does more work.
ID: h833wojWhich is weird as SMT is exactly about power efficiency.
ID: h81d8j6No, U-series often haven't HT. See 4500U.
ID: h81hu1uRight, but their official spec sheet says 4c8t.
ID: h837pz9That's only with 4000 series which are based on Zen2 (like Van Gogh), all 5000U series have SMT including both Zen2 & Zen3.

As if we didn't know that already. What else would have 4 cores of Zen2 and RDNA2?

The Sega Neptune is real!

Pretty good leaking from MLID

It only has 1GB of VRAM? Hmm...
ID: h81e3xpThat's 1GB taken from the unified pool of 16GB of LPDDR5. I'd expect the OS dynamically resizes the amount taken depending on how much VRAM is currently required.
ID: h820gmuReserved, can not check my laptop now but if I remember well it can take up to 8GB if necessary, this should be the same.

Nanithefuck?! 4 logic cores? No SMT? VRAM 1GB? WHAT?!

The what now???

Probably was changed due to testing. Shouldn't take it as something unless Valve says something
