Good to see Cecil’s Darkness attack in there. One of the early reports suggested the port is based on the NA EasyType (SNES) version, which had that attack and many other moves removed.

ID: h9kx0m0They seem to have been including as much as they can from the previous iterations besides the after story stuff from the FF1 and FF2 psp release. I’m a fan. More things in the game is generally better.

ID: h9kdyqdSo there is a product called the razer Kishi for phones that I use with steam link. It works great (I do have good internet in my house) and opens up a huge library of games I can play anywhere in my house from my pc to my phone to my big screen tv. If you are finding that you often say I wish this was for switch this might be a good solution and often the games are lower cost on steam as well.

ID: h9kll81You’re not crazy, they used brighter colors across the board, but there’s also several color combinations that were flat out impossible on the snes.

Super excited! after play PR for 1,2&3 I’m excited to see what quality of life updates they add if any at all. PR of 2 is the best version of the game and removing CP or Job Sickness from 3 has made that a much more comfortable experience.

ID: h9lcpsjPsp are gorgeous but they are not pixel art. These are incredibly close to the snes sprites, a testament to the quality of the originals.

ID: h9k8bqhIt's really not a problem at all and once you start playing it you completely ignore it. It's such a nitpicky thing that doesn't affect gameplay at all

So, so lazy. They just raised the color values to mess up the shadows, as if they were porting it to the GBA and had to account for people not having backlit screens. Look at that overworld shot outside of Baron compared to the original.

The job titles are there, I wonder if the job titles will be in FFVI. That's one of my favorite parts of the Japanese release and I'm so happy that these remasters seem to be direct JP ports. I wonder about the esper names.

Is anyone else wondering why 3/4 are getting pixel remasters when they have 3D remasters already that act as fairly definitive versions of the game? I dunno, I think the pixel work is pretty and if that’s your jam then cool, but I find the 3D remasters more appealing

The 3d chibi remakes was honestly not my thing. So I'm excited for a more remastered original feel like the pixal remaster.

There is a good chunk of the Final Fantasy fan base who didn't like the art style in the 3d remakes. (I also found the voice acting terrible and the remastered music worse than the originals, and the overall arty style to simply not match the tone of the game correctly in the case of 4. But that's just me.) The gameplay in them is great, but I'd rather go back and play the GBA ports instead because I liked the graphics of the originals far more.
I think most of the people who fall into this category with me are the people who played them back when they were originally released. We enjoyed the way they looked and we're all old codgers now who are stuck in our ways yelling at kids to get off our lawns, lol.

The 3D remasters also touched up the story and pacing of the game quite a bit. IMO, those changes made both games much slower and more dull. I prefer the 2D versions by far.

Aside from just trying to have a more definitive collection of pixel remasters of all sprite based FF games, I personally think these are looking to be nicer versions of 4 and 5. The 3D DS era chibi sprites might have their charm, but the UI in those older versions were honestly a mess.
Never hurts to have more options at the end of the day though, I personally don't find the new font and UI to be all that offensive like everyone's making it out to be, and personally am stoked for the release.

I love how snappy combat is in this series. The 3d combat is incredibly sluggish in comparison. The new combat makes playing these games so much more pleasant. Also the music is incredible.
