As someone who has no clue what X-Com is, what should I expect?

ID: hac882qTactical shooter where you control characters on a grid. Think the Mario + Rabbids in terms of gameplay since those were directly inspired by the newer XCOM games.
ID: habpk27Satisfying heartbreak. Base management was having 3 corks on a boat with 6 holes. Battles are long, turn based and have perma-death so you're constantly debating resetting 30 minutes of gameplay to keep someone alive or to carry on. You usually have to carry on because you don't see a way you could have kept everyone alive anyway.
Basically the energy of a souls or rogue-like turn based RPG. No overworld or exploration, just missions.

ID: hachsx1The original XCOM and FF Tactics are among my favorite games ever. I love tactics games. But man oh man, I hope they find new ways to manage failure and difficulty that aren't such a constant beating!
