I recently played Re0 and Re1 and they were amazing despite being old and lack some quality of life, is Code Veronica has the same level of quality of life so I may enjoy it, or is it a lot worse?

Did Code veronica aged the same way as re0 and re1 or is it a lot worse? is it better to just wait for a remake?

If you have some idea of what you’re getting to and enjoy that style of game you’d be doing yourself a disservice by not playing it. I love Veronica, I have tempered my expectations of an official remake to just being glad there’s more and not forgotten but I played on GameCube back in the day so my opinion is definitely rose-tinted.

It hasn't aged too well but it's still a fun game. Also it's probably the hardest RE game, if you're not prepared enough halfway through the game you can lock yourself and have to restart.

Graphics kinda suck but it's a great resident evil game. It's really hard, you have to conserve ammo and if you don't do it correctly you will either have to start over or get lucky grinding through. Save room music is great too. Don't waste powerful resources on unworthy adversaries and do the morally correct thing.

compared to re1 (which he just played) the gfx are amazing .

Surely they mean Remake.

In terms of QoL.. If you played the RE1 and RE0 Remasters with the new analog control scheme, don't expect that to be in Code Veronica. You must play it with tank controls only. However, CV is fully 3D and the camera moves around while you explore, so it can feel a bit smoother than the static camera angles that switch instantly in every other classic RE.

It has some really bad and questionable game designs at some points but if you get over that, you quickly understand why this is a fan favorite.

CV has some cheesy voice acting but it is pretty fun after you get used to the controls and camera angles. I think it is one of the harder RE games imo.

CV was never remade so the graphics won’t be as good but if you play the remaster (x360/ps3) version then it’s not too bad. In terms of story, it’s one of the best in my opinion. I’d consider playing the original RE2 first though before going into CV as its a direct prequel to CV.

I wouldnt recommend the remaster on 360 or ps3. They botched that conversion, they changed the lighting system, and it means that its literally too dark to even see half the items in the game.

Code V has elements that are actively designed against the player. Quality of life it largely isn't.

To be clear, which RE1 did you play?

96 or REmake? If you played the REmake, then no, Code Veronica isn't on the same quality in terms of QOL and graphics. The controls are pretty much the same. I would definitely recommend playing but it's age shows a little and it's one of the hardest ones if you're a newcomer.

Well you don’t have to drop items on the floor, that’s an immediate +100 to Qol. Also best save room theme in the series IMO.

It doesn’t have the same level of polish or modernity that REmake and RE0 have, but it was a Dreamcast title so the graphics are much easier to look at than the PS1 titles. It’s got a great story and is a good sequel to RE2. There are some irritating aspects to the game, I recommend saving in multiple files in case you need to load from an earlier point.

Also if you’re playing on a PC there are a number of mods that improve graphics and lighting. I think I remember seeing a work in progress to change the whole game to a behind the back camera scheme.

The graphics didn’t age that great but considering it’s good but a hard game to play I heard

They aged fine, better than re1 etc from 32bit era

Why would you comment if you’ve never played the game?

I played like thirty minutes of it with ps now but it ran out

Go where the party is, this thread’s a pretty happening place

Personally i love it. It was the fist game in the series to use real 3d polygon based environments instead of pre rendered images.

Look up the reviews from the time. It always got 8/10 or more. Mostly 9/10s

Gameplay wise its the same classic resi, except this time its a longer game.

It really is a must play tbh.

IF you can, i recommend playing the dreamcast version as its the best looking imo. Other versions are just too dark or have other graphical problems. Eg PS3 and 360 rerelease are so dark some items are no longer visible. So unless yoo know they are there, or spam the use button while moving along environment, its easy to miss stuff.

If you want the extra content from the CVX release, that is also available on DC (google ''dreamcast cvx version dreamcast talk'', view first result).

Don’t listen to anyone’s opinions. Play it for yourself

16 : Anonymous2021/09/02 22:42 ID: hbdivr9

Definitely worth playing. I enjoy it a lot more than RE0.

17 : Anonymous2021/09/02 23:25 ID: hbdod5n

Graphics aren’t as good but I think CV is waaaay better than 0. Definitely check it out.

I enjoyed playing code Veronica, it was hard and a nice challenge.
