ALGS Winter Circuit Last Chance Qualifier – Day 1 & 2 [Information & Live-Discussion]

1 : Anonymous2021/03/19 16:49 ID: m8lhl8

This weekend is the last chance to qualify for the ALGS Winter Circuit Playoffs. Each region is competing for their last five playoff slots. There is no prize money and no ALGS points to gain, which means you also won't see your favourite team playing if they already qualified.

There also won't be official broadcasts. (At least for NA/EMEA, not sure about the other regions.)

Also, don't forget that the US is already in daylight saving (summertime)!

My problem with watching this game at a high level is the crazy amount of information and only one viewer to watch through. Casters do their best but with 15 squads left by ring 4, 10 squads die within 30 seconds and there's no good way to display it!

I also feel like the last ring is always such a cluster f**" it almost feels like luck! (I know it isn't but all of a sudden the games over)

I highly recommend picking your favorite 1-2 teams and just watching them. Their communication is also a huge part of understanding what all is going on and you miss out on that with the official broadcast

Not all teams stream. Crazy Racoon who have two of the best players in the game (RAS and selly) and who are super big in Japan and Korea don't stream tourneys. Same goes for multiple pros in EU. The only ones that I see stream are from NA. That's literally it.

If watching the official broadcast is ehh for you, definitely consider tuning into individual players' twitch streams or watch parties that streamers host. MST (Sickks and Pandxrz in this team always stream) along with HRN (euriece streams I'm pretty sure) are strong teams going through the Last Chance Qualifier. For Europe, any of the Alliance players (Vaifs, Hakis, and iPN) would be good to watch. They are a monster team.

I still like the official stream for the finals though. I've gotten to know enough of the teams to better understand what's going on, but i got started watching Competitive by watching individual player streams to get better at the game.

Hell yeah man I appreciate the info. It would be a lot better to imagine myself in their shoes.

I appreciate the effort and I'll check it out

There will never be a way to cleanly show 15 squads in the final circle, BR's just aren't built like that.

Hell you could argue the point of the final circle is to be messy it's jaut exacerbated by the passivity of pro play.

ID: grjsnrl

I wouldn't mind spitscreen. Each fight gets on portion of the screen. The steam should show up to four screens at once. And the caster should speak about one fight at a time.

The best solution would be to have one caster for each fight. And let the payers choose the fight they want to watch. Every player should be able to fly around the map

Daltoosh does it best imo

ID: grknlwv

Daltoosh doesn't cast other regions??? Plus NA comp scene is literally a meme. The quality is so bad compared to EU and APAC North.

Is the broadcast format still all over the shop or have they gained a bit of stability back?

Let my boy NiceWigg play!

6 : Anonymous2021/03/20 05:43 ID: grkc46p

So what happened with Wigg, Timmy and Apryze? Thought they were supposed to be playing in this today?

ID: grllfvd

They thought they had finished the sign up to be registered but it turns out they did not correctly register before the deadline.

That was a different team

Does the game actually work for competitive play?

ID: griqr3h

I think it does, the ability to save teammates and the higher ttk makes good play pretty consistent. Importantly though it's pretty fun to watch

ID: grituiz

I’m probably the odd man out but I don’t think a BR by nature of RNG can truly ever be 100% a fair competition.

Fun to watch? Sure. But I feel like the fairness and competitive integrity goes out the window with a lot of Apex being RNG with over all loot luck and ring location.

ID: griytsf

I actually think that's what makes Apex such a good competitive game. Consistency is what shows what teams are truly amazing, because they're able to minimize the RNG and continually perform well despite the nature of a battle royale. When a team still knocks it out of the park even when the ring doesn't go their way and they don't have their preferred guns, that's a team to root for.

ID: grjjnd7

Loot luck is what it is and is mitigated by wiping a team, generally. Ring location is also less RNG than most BRs because most masters+ can predict rings.

ID: grjzais

The rings for comp are actually much more consistent now compared to back in the day. They created a few specific ring sets for comp to minimize the amount of RNG. It has bugged out a couple times but that just means it pulls to the same general area a few times.

ID: grjnrij

It does. Scoring isn't just about placement, but getting kills as well. A lower placed team can get more points than the round winner if they go on a tear and clean up the lobby.

ID: grilb3x

Yes and it's very entertaining to watch especially in later rounds

Good opportunity to express how fucking much I HATE e-sports for ruining everything I love about multiplayer games. All it does is sucking all the fun out of my games, everything is constantly nerfed to pander for "entertaining" aggressive playstyles of pros and straemers, casual lobbies are filled with sweaty wannabe "athletes" smurfing and abusing the meta, community is getting more toxic every day. It was happening with Overwatch for years and now it is happening to Apex. Can't wait to see who is getting deleted from the game next after Wattson and Caustic.

This has happened for as long as I've been gaming..

I've never watched a tournament before, but one thing I am curious about is whether the players ever experience lag or packet loss or any one of the thousand bugs?

ID: grl8vze

They do. There’s been multiple matches in the past where they’ve had to restart the round a portion of the way through due to server errors.

Esports BR LMAOOOOOOOOO

How many teams have caustic in them after the nerf?
