One essential thing Respawn should implement for NEXT ranked split that basically the entire community and pro-scene agrees on.

Respawn usually have long development and testing for implementing new gameplay, which is understandable. However, sometimes when there are obvious things that needs to be solved they should be implemented instantly without significant testing. An example of this is Pathfinder’s low profile. We get it, he got low profile a long time ago because it was argued he was too dominant, but later we all found out that Pathfinder was too large for having low profile and this nerfed him too much. The question is, WHY did it take 6 - 9 months to remove low profile when this was so obvious and already established by the community and the devs?

The specific gameplay mechanic of this discussion i want to bring up is gunshot audio range. We KNOW that ranked is not good on KC due to hearing third parties across the entire map. The entire community agrees on this, and im pretty sure the devs do too. The question im asking is, when there are such easy fixes that can be implemented to undoubtably make the game better, why does it take 6-12 months of bullshit before it happens? It can’t take that much time to reduce gunshot audio range by 30-40% in terms of development and testing? We are moving in to the next ranked split on Olympus and third parties WILL be the same as on KC if this fundamental gunshot audio problem is not changed.

Some seemingly easy to fix issues are actually not easy to fix. Remember the muzzle flash issue? To outsiders it seemed it could be fixed by changing some config from 5 to 1 but in reality the issue was much deeper and took much longer to fix.

Another thing to take into consideration is resource. I assume the team that's responsible for fixing issues is much smaller in size compared to the team that's delivering content updates. Given the tons of issues of the game at the moment they need to prioritize.

We don't get much comms regarding development. So for the gunshot audio range issue, it could be in any of these states:

It's in the backlog but not prioritized. It has been investigated and they decided not to fix for whatever reason. It's being actively worked on. A potential solution is implemented and being tested. The fix is ready but queued for the next patch.

Yeah the whole muzzle flash thing really kind of made me realize that this game engine wise is just a mess, and asking for any sort of "easy" buffs/nerfs/tweaks is more than likely just not possible without major engine overhauls. The fact that they had to completely rework their entire lighting engine just to get rid of muzzle flash is insane.

Gunshot audio is not the the biggest problem.

Third-parties feel terrible of KC in particular because there is a lack of options when it comes to escaping them. The entire west side of the map has sparse cover and the rest of it is riddled with brutal choke points and little alternatives to rotate if you’re shot at by three different teams. Not to mention, a few houses/items of cover have been removed at popular fighting spots. This further exacerbates the problem.

Reducing gunshot audio is like putting a band-aid over a gaping wound; it might stop a little bit of the bleeding, but eventually the blood will seep through and things will return to the way they were previously.

WE is considering a great map because there’s always somewhere you can go or something you can do to defend against third-parties. Hiding behind the generous amount of cover all throughout the map or rotating a different way, just to name a few.

I am part of the community and I dont agree with it. Gun shot audio reduction does not solve anything at high-level comp and it will just delay them working on the real issues that need addressed.

Second you may not realize that respawn wants third parties, and they want this stuff going on. Its what keeps shit can players playing, the fact that they can get a kill on someone good with just a shot from a third party. And non skill based kills and damage are being rewarded through the entire fabric of the game. So it stands to reason that its completely possible they dont care and never have and dont want it fixed.
