I used to plug my headset into my controller when I played on ps4 now switching to ps5 I have to use a alternate controller for the xim to work(the hori) The hori doesn’t have a headset port on the controller so I plug my headset into the back of the ps5 using usb and the sound quality is much lower... How do I fix this ?

Unfortunately this is one of the downsides to the Hori Minipad. There are other 3rd party controllers out there with a headphone jack you can use, but every possible option here is gonna cost more money.
You could buy a USB Bluetooth Audio Decoder which should allow you to use just about any wireless headset with your PS5, plus some of the dongles will have a 3.5mm jack for you to plug wired headphones into.
Alternatively, buy a Nacon PS4 controller, which are supported as of the last Xim firmware update to replace your Hori. The Nacon has a headphone jack AND a touchpad, so should solve all your problems.

You can try a better usb DAC but the best solution is to get a proper usb headset or stop using the xim so you can go back to using the wired one on a controller. I switched to the pulse headset but I'd recommend looking at something like the Astros.

Just stop using it. Most games support m+k. It's easy as that. Plug m+k in and have fun.
ID: goysd2lSince when did "most games" support M&K...? DOOM/DOOM Eternal doesn't. Borderlands doesn't. None of the newer Resident Evil titles do... i could go on but I'd be listing almost every shooter on console.
Don't you think that most of us have tried other options before dropping £100 on a Xim?
