I usually have a general idea what I would have used but can never remember what sites do and do not require symbols and if they do what specific symbols they allow.

Origin’s is probably the worst. Not only do I have to sign in the once a year that I need to play an EA game, it always rejects my credentials and I inevitably have to do a PW reset. This is a factor in determining if I’m going to buy an EA game.

I like to play from my couch with a controller. With a controller, I can change my computer's output to my TV, hit another button to open Steam Big Picture, then launch the game from there. But god help me if it's a game that needs another launcher. It will have an update that needs keyboard or mouse input to get by, or I'll need to re-enter my credentials.
So now I gotta get up and go to my computer to get past all that. Ok, first world problem, but it's god damn annoying.

I have to enter my password EVERY time I want to play far cry 3. And it sucks because I use a password manager so I can't just get quick at typing it
ID: hjymy65I use Playnite, which is a kind of game library manager. It is totally free and easy to configure (in principle, since you can go much deeper if you want). The good thing is that once you log into each of your platforms, although you must have the other launchers installed, when you start a game, it will log in and automatically open the launcher relevant to the game. This way you avoid having to manually enter each launcher and enter your email / password to play.

I got Watch Dogs 2 on Epic, but it still has to launch UPlay, and I have to launch that from Steam so the pro controller works. Literally 3 launcher logins to play 1 game.

ID: hjyy5nsEpic has weird co-operation with uplay. it had all kinds of issues when first ubisoft games launched on epic. one of the biggest was that users had to download game twice, because each launcher didnt recognize other ones downloads.

I was replaying Xcom 2 recently and the 2K launcher was apparently trying to kill my computer. I could play for maybe a couple hours before my whole computer started bogging down. I couldn't even shutdown the game properly, I needed to restart my pc.
Once I found a way to by-pass the 2K launcher, I haven't had a single issue since.

ID: hjy0uniWhat's worst for me, is that I swear to christ when I first bought Xcom 2 at launch it didn't come with the 2K launcher. Cuz I've played through XCom 2 before on an older rig and did not have this issue.
ID: hjymakrGame launchers grab user information and usage statistics. Nothing in a launcher benefits the player - it's all so 2K (or whomever runs the launcher) can see how users play their games and gather data by scraping user systems for info when they can.

Going through this right now with ea origin getting ready for bf 2042.
I managed to get into my old profile but do not remember the password. No biggie since I'm in. I can add the 2nd account right there in my profile. Sweet. Nope! I have to put in the password of the account I don't remember to add the 2nd.
If anyone knows how to help please advise. It is a nightmare and I already hate origin.

I never remember the password of those lauchers, but they are the same as the logins for their website. So I just open firefox and look up the remembered credential for said website hahah

Stuff like this has made me fall in love with GOG more and more. I hate having 20 different launchers, having to confirm my password with a confirmation code, blah blah blah and all that other annoying crap.
I just want to be able to play the games I've bought, not have to worry about authenticating, connecting to the internet just to play to play a singleplayer mode, running on a private server just to play with friends, not have spyware and other garbage installed when I connect to the internet and suddenly it starts a patch and I might lose a save file over it.
Give us more DRM free games, it should be the standard. I'm at the point where I'll accept 1/10 of the options if it means I actually own the games I've bought.

Ubi connect and Origin are the worst launchers in existence. It should be illegal to make shit like that.

Ubisoft Uplay/now Connect and PSN have the hands down worst login ever ever anywhere ever in the history of ever on PC.
It was so bad I literally had to contact support one time to log in to Uplay and the dude was like do you remember any previous passwords and I said yea heres one but I have no idea when etc. I assure you I'm me.
At one point I actually installed KeePass to remember all these fucking passwords but now I just don't log in to things.
