As a "hardcore survival shooter" that often uses realism as an argument for changes, i find that insane that you can pop painkillers, Stims and Morphine like tic-tacs with the only repercussions being "damn I'm thirsty" (and ooh I'm shaking a little bit) when irl you would straight up OD and die
-
Nikita mentioned that addiction will be in the game (probably along with overdosing), so SoonTM
ID: hiier8nID: hiihqesThey said they are cutting features so I would guess about 1% of planned features are actually going to get added and maybe 10% will be added as DLC.
Planned doesn't mean what it used too.
ID: hikhbd2Why would they call it quits after 1.0?
ID: hikrhzfImagine being addicted to pills and the weird hazy effect disappears when you pop a pill but comes back when you’re sober that would be fun.
ID: hii1md9Sadly, if it's not confirmed with a release date it's as good as if was never said, bsg works in obscure ways only few can understand (but in all honesty, I'm not sure it's gonna come with overdosing, at least at first, though it was presented as "the more you use it, the lower the effects" as your character gets addicted and builds a resistance from the substance)
ID: hii2hxxyeah, but thats all we have, since they dont publish roadmaps or anything, best we can hope for is that Nikita mentions that its planned. We have no idea how they plan to implement it, when we should expect it etc.

Isn't there a stim that straight up kills you x% of the time right after use.
ID: hiiid2nNo, it was the obdolbos, but it was only for an event, you get random side effects bait that's all
ID: hiivlp2Obdolbos will still kill you and is what you are “looking” for in your title as it translates literally into overdose from Russian. So if ur curious it’s basically tarkov local drugs mixed up put into that syringe for you (hence the random effects) to get high and “overdose” on. It will be nice tho when proper body procedure is modeled when taking a shitload of hard drugs such as morphine and adrenaline till ur heart pops.
-
I’ve wondered why this, and building a tolerance wasn’t in the game. It would end (probably not, maybe lessen) the reliance on painkillers.
ID: hii1qafWell, seeing a mega Chad popping propital then morphine then l1 then etg-c, and then going "Mr Stark I don't feel so good" would be something i wouldn't want to miss
ID: hikpdh4"Building tolerance" to heroin in medical packaging is literally addiction. Not using it will cause withdrawal pain and any use, for any reason, certainly will do the opposite of what it does in game. IMO taking a shot of morphine should make vision blurry and decrease movement speed. Sure, it takes away the pain, bit you damn sure ain't getting back in the fight.
-
yeah this shit would be fly as fuck homie. should have some long term effects on your PMC too.
-
So I have chronic pain and therefore get a quest reward worth of painkillers monthly.
Overdosing is a real threat but really I’d say it is for chads that pop multiple painkillers especially high strength like morphine and propital
I’ve personally never overdosed and have had some mighty heroic doses, (good bit of oxycodone and or Hydrocodone either or both with tramadols)
ID: hikp093In which case addiction/withdrawal mechanics would kick in.
If you pop a painkiller every raid, then some negative effects should follow. But if you suddenly quit cold turkey, more or different negative effects should follow.
My main hope is that when they introduce addiction mechanics, that they also rework movement with blacked/broken legs, as I feel (with very elevated damage or just a short burst of painkiller so you can sprint for half a second) that you shouldn't be full stopped because your leg broke.
Yes lotta pain and you definitely ain't gonna run for very long, but It's really annoying losing all your moment 2ft from cover and dying as a result even though irl you'd more than likely be able to run those last 2ft or dive behind the cover
-
Morphine is absolutely bonkers anyways. Go ahead and pop some morphine.... and then go try to fight. Yeah no, not today buddy, now lay down and be unconscious, because that's most likely what a dose of morphine strong enough to suppress pain from gut shots does to you.
Pop a second one and enjoy a nice forever-nap.
There was a saying during WW2 in regards to the morphine syrettes: "One for the pain, two for eternity."
Meanwhile in Tarkov, the "realistic hardcore shooter"...
-
The only problem with ODing I can think of is in the situation where your leg gets balcked at the beging of a raid and you forget your serv or CMS and you need to crawl to the extract for 20 min, or risk ODing half way to the exfil
ID: hiinxnoIf both of your legs suffer serious wounds with arterial bleeding, then the most realistic thing to happen would be for you to die. This game is so selective about what needs to be realistic lmao
ID: hiittikWhich is good. It’s a game at the end of the day, and fun is a relevant part of making a good game. Not everything should be realistic. Because real life sucks some times.
ID: hiiz0cmArterial bleeds are what the tourniquets are for, you wouldn't necessarily die, especially if you're some hyper operator on contractor pay being able to self-apply rapidly. Would definitely need help moving and be a bit confused and disoriented from heavy bloodloss afterwards however lol
ID: hii6xryI definitely see why that would be annoying, but it might add another layer of hardcore to tarkov
ID: hii5lxfWell, it's a "hardcore survival shooter" and there are products that stop you from a morphine OD, but, you'd be limp af with no energy (but alive)
-
Classic bsg, instead of fixing the problem, let's fix around the problem!
-
You can overdose? Go take a few cheeses/ painkillers in an offline raid and just drain them. Your PMC will die
ID: hii5psoI could take every single stim in the game, if I bring an aquamari, and an MRE, I'm basically okay
ID: hii5u2tI mean i agree with you lol there should be harsher penalties for juicing up
-
stims are not even that relevant. yes etg is an exception but thats about it.
ID: hii2iz01: and
2: if you know how to use them, they are very relevant, zagustin prevents new bleeds, P22 lowers by 10% the body damage you take etc...
ID: hii3bfhyea as if any of those can turn the tide in a fight unless both players are really really bad xD You dont die from bleeds and an extra 40 points of health is irellevant. Plus nobody would invest 100k into some stims every single run. the most notable are etg who can be relevant for sure, and sj6 for resort enjoyers. Thats about it. Even those do not win fights by themselves but are merely for convenience.

To be fair, painkillers should be fine for you to pop like candy. I'm guessing it's meant to be paracetamol or ibuprofen? As far as I'm aware they don't dehydrate you IRL, the biggest risks are liver damage which again wouldn't be able to do anything in the time it takes for you to do a raid haha.
The morphine and others should have much more severe effects. Adrenaline shots can sometimes just kill you instantly too, especially if you're unhealthy living on a diet of vodka, sprats and MRE crackers.
ID: hiim1ncIrl paracetamol and ibuprofen overdoses take hours to days, and can lead to coma or in extreme cases death, but, ibuprofen and paracetamol are nowhere near as strong as what they seem to be in the game so either you already take a shitton of them, or they should cure your headache 15mins after taking one haha
(Or maybe those ibu and parac pills are laced with codeine or Morphine, explaining their insane efficiency)
ID: hiin773Yeah, I'm a pretty big guy and I'm lucky if taking two pills will help with a headache never mind a bullet wound/cut. IRL taking that much paracetamol often would shred your gut and wreck your liver.
I'm guessing you're right that they're laced with something because you use them to make morphine shots. Stupid discussion but I love dumb game lore like this haha.
-
I would just be happy if painkillers had diminishing returns on a per raid level. golden star, 1st use full duration, second use half that, 3rd even less until you just dont get the benefits anymore.
this coming from someone with more rubles than I know what to do with
-
i mean you can "do surgery" to yourself in the middle of no where and go from the brink of death to fully normal...the game needs realism to a certain extent but I think overdose mechanics would just be another thing for people to complain about
-
What if being shot just temporarily removed buffs from painkillers? Seems like a much simpler solution to pre-medding
-
has flashback to ACE3 medical system
-
Landmines/claymores
-
I love the painkiller feature
-
It should also make your aim awful if you're playing for long hours. Coming in with like 10 seconds of focus before everything but front sight post is blurry
-
I'd say yes for morphine and the pop sleeve painkillers, if they're opioids then that'd fuck you up right quick if you took a 3-4~ full sleeves per raid.
Though, if they are opioids, they should also increase the effect duration time because opioids > NSAID's for pain suppression
I don't know enough about the chemicals in the other stimulants in game to say how quickly you could OD.
-
Oh man imagine popping one to many painkillers and fucking die that would be lit. But the chances should reset every time your come down for the stim effect cause I would hate to be in a fire fight and I popped 2 pills already but I’m about to pop a propital cause my effects are done but I die from healing id be mad as fuck.
-
You can OD in the game off a stimulant.. I forgot which one tho
-
If there's addiction then I think there should definitely be overdose
-
Yeah I mean at least morphine. If you've ever played Arma 3 ACE you understand
-
Do you guys not wanna play a video game? There are more accurate warfar simulators out there if thats what youre looking for?
ID: hii96ooIt wouldn't render the game unplayable or ruin the fun, it would just leave l the playing field between mega chads and avg players, as a smart use of stims would be rewarded in a fight compared to dumping money into them to become an unkillable monster
ID: hiibvl0It wouldnt level it at all? It would just add another obstacle to manage for all players.
You think stims is why geared players wont die??
ID: hiizekqPlease enlighten me, what other warfare simulators out in the abyss that are more accurate?
ID: hijwn5aArma and Squad easily off the top.
-
Addiction yes, overdoses, i haven't seen or heard about it ever, but do send a link if it is indeed planned
-
No ty
-
You can die from heart attack when you take lots of stims so.. what more do you want?

I'm actually curious what percent of Soon™ features are going to added to the game before they just slap a 1.0 on it and call it quits
