So I’m not going to lie, I have no friends to play with online, none of my friends actually play pc. I had rust before but it was honestly so hard to get into since everybody I ran into in any server was with someone, it was just overall harder to learn. Is escape from tarkov good for someone who plays by themselves?
-
i have always played alone and the biggest thing you need to understand is that you cant and shouldnt take on every fight, run or let the enemy teams walk past.
ID: hyxa3vhID: hyxcysjAnd deaf. Just yesterday I was running up to USEC camp huffing and puffing and a two man ran past the camp and didn’t hear me while I heard loud and clear just behind the bush I came up running past me.
ID: hyxdvmdAnd remember letting people survive doesn’t make you a rat. Lining up the perfect shot for 15 minutes after that walk past to kill one only to be clapped by the others does.

I am always most lethal when running solo. Duo is ok, trio is doable, anything more is a liability.
ID: hyxnph7Imo duo really is the sweet spot IF, and it's a big IF, your partner is someone you're very comfortable with. I play with a buddy and we probably have 800 hours of duo raids and it's just like clockwork. We have our callouts, we know the maps inside and out, it just works so well.
When I play duos with new players, guys who just got the game, I'd rather not play at all. Having to describe my every move in detail, watching their stream to keep an eye on them, answering basic questions as bullets are sailing over my head...it's all part of the process but nothing hits quite as nice as a really well-oiled duo working together.
ID: hyxf4ljI don't know how many times I've clapped a buddy while running a 4 or 5 man because they ran ahead and a few minutes goes by with little communication and I head tap them because they changed gear or just came from a direction I wasn't expecting them too.
-
I’m level 43, and most of my raids have been solo. My schedule doesn’t really line up with my friends
-
Theres discords where you can find homies to play with and then theres the sherpa program which basically offers help and guidance to new players.
Tarkov has a very high skill floor, I'd say its on moba level. Its the most fun with friends though but I know that trying to make your friend buy tarkov is like trying to get them to invest in a pyramid scheme "yeah the game is supposed to be ass bro, its only like 40 euros for the beta too it aint that bad, oh how it runs? Well I get steady 40 fps while adsing", but we've all been there
ID: hyxeyrqMight be most difficult game to introduce to someone, tried showing my cousin whose into arcade shooters and he gave up once he saw me apply chapstick lmfao
ID: hyxk2p1Tried getting my warzone friend into it, but he said he doesn't like not knowing how many kills he has and it's too complicated. Says he needs high kill games for his youtube channel. With 18 subscribers. So I got tired of trying and I play solo.
-
Yes, it is my favourite way to play.
I play in groups a lot with friends, but playing solo is just a different feeling.
-
Its stressful as hell alone but Theres an official discord for playing with groups
ID: hyx59ouDo you happen to know the discord name/link and stuff?
ID: hyx6bgrTry sherpa! I dont have the link but if u search up sherpa discord youll find it
ID: hyxkemjAlso streamers like Pestily or DeadlySlob have Discords where you can find people to play with.
If you're Dutch by chance, there's a Dutch Tarkov Discord with a lot of people. More countries might have that.
-
No.
Save yourself the money.
-
I’m you like being the underdog in a very immersive game. Then yes. I play solo a lot and I love it.
-
I don’t do anything but scav solo anymore. I don’t enjoy playing stuff by myself like I used to when I was younger. However, I’ll say that more than 3 people is harder than solo content because you have to have a constant line of positional communication.
-
Solo is the most money/time efficient. Duo is probably the most fun. I like both, and anything above duo is a no-go.
ID: hyxo07pTrios can be doable if your third is super familiar with both of you and can fit in seamlessly. We often have a third as overwatch with a DMR and a good scope. They hang back a bit and watch flanks and provide cover.
But yeah going banging into dorms on reserve bunker with 3 can get messy quick, even with good comms.
-
I will play with you, PM me on here. I'm only level 15 this wipe but I'm always looking for people to play with.
-
I play solo because my friends get too tilted when they die. I've tried explaining that more often than not they'll die but they get mad when they lose their loot.
-
Tarkov is the most brutal FPS game I have ever played. Brutal meaning you will feel things you didn't think were still possible sitting behind a keyboard and mouse. Pure fear, anxiety, and crazy rushes of adrenaline.
It's been a minute so I don't get the overwhelming rushes anymore, but I will still finish a solid raid and notice my hands are fucking shaking. This game hits hard. You need to be ready for a huge commitment.
Outside of that playing solo vs with a group is preference. In the beginning it is nice to have people explaining the game to you. But if you learn to play solo then you will be a much better player as a result.
-
Yup. Solo is more enjoyable than duos or squads for sure. You can shoot at everything and play how you want.
-
No
-
I only ever play Solo cuz I’m in same boat. I thouroughly still enjoy the game. Can be frustrating sometimes, but that’s anything
-
Playing solo is fun sometimes because you can be more aggressive, but against a teams, it’s hard to do stuff. You want someone watching your back. Join official servers imo for groups
-
I have a group and play solo.
If you haven't got a good group of friends that has good comms, you're not missing out.
Anything that moves or footsteps = enemy
Other than that you'd be second guessing all the time with the casual "IS THIS YOU?!"
But I mean there's VOIP or discord groups you can try.
-
I'm solo, and I can't put the game down! All my free time (since thursday last week) has been put into the game. My fiancee likes hearing about my exploits, good and bad.
-
I mainly play solo and do fine
While it can be more stressful or boring at times, you do learn a lot more and get a lot better because you are forced to learn everything yourself the hard way and not get someone to hold your hand, on purpose or not, through your playing session(s)
The only downside to playing by yourself, is not having someone to ditch your insured gear when you die, or to rely on
But playing solo gives you priority to whatever loot you find and much more stealth without coordination
-
I tend to survive more often by myself. I’ve been team killed by every person I’ve played with at least once. Its still great by yourself, just more fun overall with 3+ players
-
I played almost only solo, so I think yes. People used to playing alone are also better teammate than people that have always played in team, you just need to communicate. The Discord server has LFG if you want to try
-
Most of the time I play by myself
-
Alaways solo since 2020 here and i'm I'm very happy, I'm making good progress and I'm not a FPS pro even if I'm not a noob either.
-
Its really hard to learn alone, but once you get the hang of it the game can be rewarding for solo play. If you decide to pull the trigger on getting this game, I'll help you out if you want. Just PM me
-
First wipe and only play solo. I'd like to think I'm good at fps so that helps, have taken on multiple groups from advantages and disadvantages of position and won.
I'm doing mostly quests and upgrading everything since it's my first wipe, been addicting so far
-
Such a loaded question to answer in truth.
Good players with much experience function better solo if generating roubles is the goal, not really debatable at all.
When you start pushing pvp then you are no longer generating roubles as your main goal and the answer is different.
You will lose mobility and options when you start increasing group size, but your combat capability goes up greatly.
I am set for the whole wipe now and only play with friends, but all my roubles, hideout upgrades and quests were done by me solo grinding.
I expect to die and lose money playing with friends, it is impossible for me to lose money playing solo for a 2hr session.
-
It's fun to scav solo. It is not fun to PMC solo.
-
Over 1000hrs here, all solo. Like others have said, pick your fights wisely and you'll be fine.
-
No... And that's why I like this game. 🙂
Solo here, tho.
-
I also only play solo, I have trouble getting into the game, but that's just me
-
I started playing on New Year’s Eve with my brother. He doesn’t like the game and I’ve continued. I’ve found a community discord that isn’t an official one where is less overwhelming (so many people on the official one) and super helpful. I can hop on at any time and jump in a voice channel and folks join in. If you’re interested in playing just shoot me a dm.
-
Dependent on your commitment. I always play solo and I am confident in doing so.. but I put a ton of hours into the game and another ton into consuming EFT content/ Tipps etc.
But to be fair the first couple hours are tough
-
It’s a much different experience
Until you get crazy good Tarkov is more of a stealth game than anything else
Only take the shots you know will work (or for quest hunting specifically)
And either be stupidly fast at what you need to do, or stupidly slow (there really isn’t an in between for a solo)
-
Solo play is a viable playstyle. On the one hand, having a mate can make things so much easier in terms of situational awareness, covering, helping to complete tasks, gear-handling after one dies, and just fun. Not to mention just the multiplier in firepower.
On the other hand, I find it hard to find a good partner. Inexperienced groups often make themselves more exposed to a good player or players, who can easily prey upon their un-coordination (you can't believe how easy it is to get the jump on chadding-around geared teams who just W-key everywhere -- the trouble then becomes taking them out). Playing in a group reduces your control over your situation, unless your group is really gelling and know their stuff and know their roles.
TLDR it simply depends on if you like the lone-ranger playstyle. It IS viable if you want to make it work, but you can only make it work if you enjoy making it work.
-
It’s much much harder, but it’s much better to learn the game Solo anyways - biggest advantage is you can kill everything you see or hear
-
I used to play solo until I found a "battle buddy" via discord. Playing solo requires you to be a lot more ratty, patient and avoid combat unless you're super proficient and play 20 hours a day like the steamers. You need to make a route and pre plan before entering the raid.
-
if you're good at games, it is easier solo. squads are easier to kill than solos most of the time.
-
I've been a lone wolf in every survival game I've played. I suck at coordinating with other people and too often die because I hesitate to shoot someone thinking its them, or teamkill by accident because I don't hesitate. I prefer the challenge of solo play in Tarkov. Less thinking, more "shoot anything that moves".

To add into this, people are more blind than you think. I’ve had four mans walk within ass slapping distance without seeing me
