What “charmed” you in EFT?

1 : Anonymous2021/06/08 12:12 ID: nv2nb0

I know there's many things that make EFT unique and why we love it, but sometimes you can single out a thing that really grabbed you, for one reason or another. So, what was that thing, if you can identify one, that actually got you to buy the game and stick with it?

To me, as someone who's in a wheelchair all his life, it was the sound effects of walking. I guess it's a bit cheesy, but i've always loved the sound people make when walking in snow or on rough terrain, or even the soft, leathery sound of expensive shoes in a classy hall or on cobblestone.

I remember i was amazed by the detail of the sound effects for walking in this game, going through the hills of Shoreline, mixed sound of gravel crunch, softer, basse-y steps on grass, the crazy sharp walking on glass...

Not sure if that's because i've never done it myself (walking and thus producing the sounds of it) or it's just a natural taste for such "asmr-y" sounds, but no other game has ever came close to this level of detail, crispness and quality of sound.

And yes, i know the sound SYSTEM is broken, it's actually total trash and has gotten me killed countless times, but the actual SOUNDS are incredible. I hope they fix the system running them, then it'll be perfection 😀

The gun customization did it for me. Its the reason I got the game and the reason I am planning to stick with it fir a long time. No other game sibgleplayer or multiplayer even comes close to the amount of options EFT offers

ID: h10t3ft

Gun customization and the flea market were the reason i first started looking into the game but not why i eventually got it and have been playing it for 3 wipes 😛

I believe "Ground Branch" has simila

customisation now, might want to check it out. I am pondering buying it, but i think it's still a bit too early.

ID: h122suj

Ground Branch has pretty great customization also, but it's different than EFT. If I were to describe it, I'd say EFT is more focused on actual weapon parts (gas blocks, charging handles, grips, mounts, adapters, etc) and how these modify stats while in GB it's more about finding attachments you like and their placement. Like you can put attachments anywhere you want on the picatinny rails, customize rig gear and placement, and operator uniform. However, you can't actually tear down the gun part for part like in EFT. It would actually be pretty cool if EFT adopted some of the stuff from GB and vice versa.

I’m shit at FPS and I don’t necessary have to shot a bullet to escape,I found it fun for me,does it make sense?

ID: h1145yd

Yep it's dope that you have the option to use it to protect yourself or get shit on lol. Rather than match based games where your only objective is to kill

ID: h1215l7

Yeah same for me! I am not an FPS player and hate most FPS games. I got into this because I enjoy collecting stuff and trying to survive 🙂

4 : Anonymous2021/06/08 12:38 ID: h10shex

For me it's the love for the detail, everything has a reason, stats or something behind it. What makes Tarkov so hard to learn and master. It's not a game for a casual players, and having a real hardcore experience is just awesome.

And no other game makes my heart race like Tarkov when I hear gunshots.

ID: h11dm3t

Hit the nail on the head right here for me. With other games I can hop on as a new player and get the hang of things pretty quick. On tarkov I’m on my first wipe with 40hrs in and I’m still getting fucked daily, I go from 1mil to 0 about twice in a day before I call it quits. I’ve never had my heart thump in any other game either. Every spawn with tarkov I’m sometimes shaking and I can’t explain why, I’m not scared of loosing the loot that’s part of the fun for me, so idk what it is that makes me fear this game. I think it’s the dead silence and feeling alone but knowing you aren’t.

ID: h11zzyb

The stats are awesome, I love that I can die over and over again but my stats keep increasing, it gives the game something to grind up even if you don't make it to extract.

ID: h12yq1z

And no other game makes my heart race like Tarkov when I hear gunshots.

This has been my first wipe and im still jumpy when I get shot at randomly, most of the time its always in the back of my mind that im not alone in the server, but inventory management takes me out of that a bit and when I hear shots I remember "oh shit thats right"

5 : Anonymous2021/06/08 13:15 ID: h10wmax

For me, it's literally the Tetris and the gun modding. I'm austistic, and just being able to play with the inventory and the stuff in it that much is very satisfying to me.

Plus I really do enjoy the gameplay loop of raids, the "battle royale" aspect but being able to bring in my own kit is great. Having to confirm your own kills by seeing the body or seeing them fall and having to really take the time to clear out areas is incredibly fun. So much to think about makes the game so incredibly engaging.

ID: h11dz0v

Not autistic but have ADHD and it’s really satisfying being able to spend 30 minutes cleaning inventory, customizing guns, and using flea market.

ID: h124p69

Mmm. My first wipe was very maticulously organized, ammo stacked properly in magazines next to guns with the parts on already etc

Two wipes later and i have that Fence aesetic

6 : Anonymous2021/06/08 14:35 ID: h1171uh

The stress. No other game can get my heart rate up and hands sweating like eft.

ID: h11qg44

Absolutely. Most raids are pretty uneventful but every once in a while you get through some bullshit and realize that you've been sweating just from the anxiety. I love it.

ID: h12il9w

Yuuuup, the is the only game to make me actually duck my real ass head when a bullet whizzes over,

ID: h12k9ew

This was it for me. I found Tarkov three years ago and was coming off PubG as my main fps. Every raid felt like I was in the final circle. Now I've got fps nerves of steel.

7 : Anonymous2021/06/08 13:24 ID: h10xlgv

i got it because a friend kept bugging me to try it. i got addicted because no other game i’ve played has given me the same feeling i get after a good raid. or even just playing the game in general. it’s unlike any other and has now ruined any other shooter for me because they are too oversimplified.

ID: h112svs

,+1 i really hope it isnt going to ruin the new battlefield for me

8 : Anonymous2021/06/08 14:33 ID: h116ucx

The cock and ball torture called Jaeger

9 : Anonymous2021/06/08 13:34 ID: h10ysef

Initially it was the STALKER vibe, but that was long before I knew anything about the game.

10 : Anonymous2021/06/08 12:35 ID: h10s4cv

i cant pin it on one single thing but for me the biggest reasons are the gun customization and the sound design.

have you seen the russian devblog where they show off some of the making of the sounds?

11 : Anonymous2021/06/08 14:03 ID: h112ojv

Immersion

12 : Anonymous2021/06/08 14:12 ID: h113ycm

Something about picking up old batteries and toilet paper to sell for scrap releases the right neurotransmitters in my brain.

13 : Anonymous2021/06/08 14:50 ID: h1197t1

I love how brutal the game was. Litterally watching people play and get kills/die wondering what it must be like on the dealer and recievers end, and now im addicted.

14 : Anonymous2021/06/08 17:06 ID: h11siv2

Drinking and eating animations

15 : Anonymous2021/06/08 13:18 ID: h10wxi1

the gambling aspect

16 : Anonymous2021/06/08 12:18 ID: h10qe7h

Headshotting an absolute thick boi with a PM 9mm whilst wearing no armour after he just killed my friend.

I knew this was the game for me from that moment onwards lol

17 : Anonymous2021/06/08 14:08 ID: h113c9z

The environments. The enviro storytelling and attention to detail is just next level.

All the locations that would normally be bustling but look abandoned for years. When you go solo into a match it makes you feel alone.

18 : Anonymous2021/06/08 14:55 ID: h119yuv

Camping on nighttime reserve is so comfy bros

19 : Anonymous2021/06/08 15:18 ID: h11d05d

I love the immersion. I get chills when I load into woods when there is a big thunderstorm. I don’t know why but something about moving in stealth with my M4 with the rain pouring down just feels so cool.

20 : Anonymous2021/06/08 15:23 ID: h11draj

just the game itself. i really am convinced that there is no game out there as realistic as eft. i mean ofc it isn’t 100% realistic, no game is but eft is the most realistic one i’ve played. kinda like a addiction, you always come back to it

21 : Anonymous2021/06/08 15:48 ID: h11h94o

For me, it's the sheer terror and immense flow of adrenaline when you are about to get slapped while carrying over a million in worth. A few broken bones and bleeding, there gunshots amd nades and you just wanna get out. There's something about the atmosphere and immersion while knowing that if you don't get your shit together you're gonna lose it all

22 : Anonymous2021/06/08 16:08 ID: h11k5ty

Ammo mixing in magazines.

23 : Anonymous2021/06/08 16:10 ID: h11kf2q

Gun customization, scavenging and the risk of losing progress and gear on death. I don’t necessarily like the multiplayer aspect of the game but it is really hard to find a game that offers a similar level of depth as tarkov.

24 : Anonymous2021/06/08 16:12 ID: h11kp2p

Can get my heart going more consistently than other games like PUBG's final circle.

Also limb damage is super cool. Different bullets and weapon attachments. Crouch height, walking speed, magazines being more realistic and plenty of small details that make this game stand out more than others in the market. Sure Arma exists but this is more fun

25 : Anonymous2021/06/08 16:55 ID: h11qzhz

The feeling of successfully tracking and hunting another player. What a rush. Takes me back to when I played dayz.

Player encounters were rare and terrifying

26 : Anonymous2021/06/08 13:40 ID: h10zjzw

I really like the vibe of Tarkov, post-apo Russian city kinda reminds me Metro and Stalker series. I remember the first time exploring those abandoned buildings (dorms) in Customs, it was really exciting. Back in 2018 it was really fun to shoot scavs and fight other players. I think the game was actually well-balanced back then. Today every wipe it's a race for the best gear and one week after the wipe you don't fight other players, instead you get mowed down by geared chads rushing on full speed destroying everyone in a second with their laser guns...

27 : Anonymous2021/06/08 12:41 ID: h10ssnw

I got foold. Think i get a nice Realistic Shooter but get just a other cod ... but i Payed for it and i play it until it get better

ID: h10trrk

Might want to check this video - - if you feel it's "other cod"

ID: h10zvgz

I know what you mean. I'm sick and tired of all those fully geared chads playing EFT like it was CoD...

ID: h11jb6v

Players don't choose how to play a game, Nikita does.

28 : Anonymous2021/06/08 13:39 ID: h10zhvm

The thing that keeps me coming back for more like a drug is that occasional friendly you find out in the wild— be it pmc or player scav. Once had a dance party at the oli desks and we set off a bunch of smoke grenades for effect and traded loot. It’s truly a game like no other.

29 : Anonymous2021/06/08 13:43 ID: h10zzuf

I like looting. The amount of unique iteme you can find when looting a stash, jacket, or gym bag amazes me. And the "junk" items are still useful and diverse.

30 : Anonymous2021/06/08 14:02 ID: h112jhj

I realy like scavenging games, and high weapon realism and customisation, so EFT was (and still is) a game made for me.

31 : Anonymous2021/06/08 14:16 ID: h114eym

Headshots

32 : Anonymous2021/06/08 14:24 ID: h115ld7

I'm a huge fan of the setting. We get to see a modern military / national conflict imagined in great detail. The abandoned, shot out buildings with graffiti. Improvised living and medical quarters for combatants show how shitty life has to be in Tarkov. Abandoned drones, helicopters and T-72's signal that shit has in fact gotten real here. All of this within some dope Russian wilderness. Gangs in control of key areas like malls, lumber mills, health resorts, customs ports and military bases.

It makes you ask -- what the actual fuck happened here? This is so damn fascinating and the maps just make you wonder about the lore.

33 : Anonymous2021/06/08 14:36 ID: h1175lp

The fact you have to think before your actions, i myself have fallen victim to this so many times when the habbits from other FPS games kick in...

34 : Anonymous2021/06/08 14:59 ID: h11ahqk

Played CS for a looooooooong ass time, but I liked playing games like Lineage 2 as well. Tarkov is kind of a mix of those two, plus the weapon customization.

35 : Anonymous2021/06/08 15:00 ID: h11al5f

The sound design for sure. Attention to detail
