This weekend we are trying something new on the sub.
Use this thread to LFG and ask any and all new player questions.
Do you know the game like the back of your hand? Feel free to help people out in the comments by answering any new player questions or offering to help them out in game. LFG is approved *in this thread only* posts on the rest of the sub will be removed.
Are you new and need some help? Post any questions in here and we hope that the community will get back to you as soon as they can.
This is an experiment, and if successful will see more daily style posts in the future promoting different kinds of content.
We have also teamed up with the Sherpa Discord to provide players both new and old with some support. They are aware of this thread and will be in and out of it to help everyone who wants some assistance. What are Sherpas you ask?
Are you new to Tarkov? Need help doing your quests? Your bullets aren’t doing anything?
Well, look no FURTHER! The Sherpa program was originally created to assist both new players and experienced alike to get a better grasp of the game, to enjoy themselves and possibly to make new FRIENDS, endless opportunities!
What we offer? We are a team of highly experienced Tarkov players who have been battling in this game for far too long, and enjoy teaching others how to improve and get a better understanding of how the game works. The program first started in 2018, with a couple of volunteers ready to help and have since then grown to ridiculous numbers.
Right now, our team has more than 100 Sherpas, all with their own playstyle and skill set who will willingly assist you in your new or continuous adventures through the dangers of Tarkov for no price at all, yes its completely FREE.
Look no more and join the Sherpa HUB partnered discord server, with over 20k members and with its own team of sherpas, moderators and helpers ready to help you! Who knows, you might even in time become a Sherpa, Moderator, or Helper yourself and give it back to the community! More information about how to join the Sherpa Program can be found in the discord server link down below, join NOW!

Are raiders on the map at the moment, seen only normal scavs

Hello everyone,
My name is DraconSpectre, I'm Spanish and I'm an EU Official Sherpa Instructor&Recruiter. I'm ex green beret and sniper in the game and IRL. If you need some help in the game or any questions, contact me with Discord: Dracon#3357.
Good luck in Tarkov!

How do I start when it's such an event mess? I am completely out of equipment. Started two days ago. Started with K/D rate around 3. Now it went down to 0.5. Every fellow on Customs completely rips me apart. Stash wealth is at 1,8 Million since I am trying to build my hideout at least and collect barter items. I don't know what to do.
-
Don’t worry about wealth or K/D. With the wipe coming soon, now is the time to work on skills or knowledge that will carry over to the next wipe. Things like map knowledge, AI behavior, ammo mechanics. Things like that. If you have no one to play with, message me and I’ll jump in some raids with you
-
I mentioned the drop of my K/D rate to emphasize my struggle.
I exclusively played customs as suggested and know this map pretty well already. But there are maps online that are really bad and leaving out parts like this one:
/comments/eintsz/customs_map_2020_edit_scav_spawns_included/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3" class="reddit-press-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener">https://www.reddit.com//comments/eintsz/customs_map_2020_edit_scav_spawns_included/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3Now I found another online map that is pretty decent and helped me to survive a lot more times. This one helped me find a lot of loot aswell and showed me the alternative way to the old gas station:
Well, AI behaviour is pretty aimbot-like with all the raiders. I understood now not to double peak. Btw. does the AI use the sound I make?
Ammo mechanics haha I can't even afford a good weapon because I will lose it 100%. Or is ammo more important than the weapon? Also remember that all my traders are level one and that I am under level 10 (6).
I will use this comment to tell the story of my subsequent sorrow.
Did a knife run this time because weapons cannot do shit against anyone anyways. Finally found a spark plug and got to exit to create my generator. yay.
Adding a sling backpack for my next raid to pickup more than 4 small items
Had a lucky scav run now where I could one tap a fully geared camping PMC. Stash wealth increased by one million
Knife run as you call it is commonly called hatchet running. I have strong opinions about hatchet running, especially for money. This opinion is based on roughly 2.5 years teaching new players on how to play this game. No not everyone agrees with me, but I do see this ALOT.
here is a message I pinned on Sherpa Hub that I repeat pretty much whenever I see someone talk about hatchet running.
Hatchet can make money, no denying that, but I have never seen a player rich BECAUSE of hatchet running.
The problem is that because you get free easy money hatchet running you do that to make money, then use that money to buy high end gear. Most thinking that the high end gear will keep them alive. After all Worrun, Lvndmark and players like him do it.
So then with the high end gear you got from hatchet running you go out feeling invincible and kill a bunch of things then die. We all die.
But since you never really learned to survive geared AND make money doing it, you lose money using the high end gear until you are broke again.
So then you are forced to hatchet run again. The cycle repeats...
Forgive me if this has been asked and answered but I couldn’t find it anywhere. I am brand new to the game and just started playing last night, is there anything that I should prioritize doing or getting before the incoming wipe?
Hey!
Since wipe will pretty much wipe your progression. No, nothing special to do before the wipe. I would recommend practicing moving from cover to cover, learn the maps (even if its in offline) and Wiki the early quests so you know what to expect.
Just play the game as it wouldn´t even wipe. I know its hard with the events, but your main goal atm is to learn 🙂
Good to know, thank you!
My typical advice for a new player wanting to go it alone would be to use your scav as often as possible.
So basically pick a map. I like teaching Interchange but Customs is far more common as a new player suggestion and without a guide I would say Customs as well. Then play as a scav as often as possible. When scav is cooling down, play PMC OFFLINE. To begin with I would just pull up a map and play offline with no scavs. Go to all the extracts and learn where they are. Then back to scav.. Scav on cooldown and you can find the exits, back to offline but with scavs on, quantity and difficulty play as online. Rinse and repeat until you can exit roughly 50+% of the time, or until you get too bored.
Now you are ready for online with your PMC. Good luck.
This is of course much harder with the raiders, but it is still what I would suggest to get ready for the next wipe and into the next wipe until you are more comfortable playing.
Lastly, DO NOT reset your account. Starting gear is next to nothing. Couple simple loot runs with me and you will have more than you started with. I do low level loot runs as well, so money really is that simple to get once you learn.
Is it normal to be getting absolutely wrecked by the raider scams? I've tried customs probably 5 times with different loadouts and only last maybe 10 minutes. Resorted to running offline mode and same thing, they also register as boss kills after match?
It is! generally you don´t want to peak them twice if your doing medium range. They will laser you in the face. Peak once, try to get a kill, if you didnt. Reposition, wait for them to drop their guard, rince and repeat
I have found CQC vs raiders to be the best though. its just simple spraying when peaking. I recommend you get used to them, offline or not. It takes some time but pays off if you do gear runs in reserve (and you could do that with raiders before the events already)
Don't fret. They destroy me too if I get under 100m of them. great loot if you can keep your distance and pop them at range.
I’ve been playing for probably a year or so, on and off. I’ve always played solo which has sucked. I need someone to help me actually get good at the game or at least competent
Come join Sherpa Hub.
Us mods there work very hard to keep Sherpa Hub a friendly welcoming place for players of all skill levels. Needs to be that way for an effective learning environment.
I played a bit a while a go, until level 20 I guess. Got excited, bought the best expansion then IRL made me stop playing.
It seems there will be a wipe this thursday. Can I just waste literally everything I have in the next few days? Party like there is no tomorrow?
Most people believe there will be a wipe, but there is never any guarantee until it wipes. The current events align with past pre-wipe events as well.
If I get killed by a player scav... do I see it afterwards?
Because someone weird shit happend today: I was sneaking as scav and on my left a guy came running screaming some russian shit. I didn't shot because I thought he was a friend-scav. In the back another person flet away in the woods running. The russia-screaming guy followed him some meters than turned around and shot me in the face. Lol wtf??
Do player scavs scream around russian? Do npc scavs kill player scavs?
I'm so confused.
By pressing F1 you can shout as a scav too 🙂 If you have the report button after he kills you then it is indeed a player scav! At the moment most scavs have been replaced by raiders and raider AI is sometimes pretty mysterious though!
There was no report button.
Didn't know there are raiders. So I shoot on sight now lol
Question: Do I loot and keep every key because they are useful later or do I ignore them and only keep some keys.
I would suggest to hold on to every key! After the raid you should check what it opens etc. Generally there are keys you will let go of. Either they have little of loot and you cant fit it into your keychain / docs case or they are only used for a quest that you have completed!
You can find the most "valuable" key list somewhere in our discords tutorial channels or you can ask for a screenshot there! (Sorry, I dont have the screenshot handy on me 🙁 )
Ok I will find it, thanks.
What is the key chain?
I'm not really aware if I should be asking questions here but, since yesterday I have not been able to load into raids. It just crashes when it tried to load Loot and I end up losing all my gear. This is getting ridiculous as the game is unplayable. Before yesterday I've played constantly and with no issues. Even going for a run naked with no Secure Container hasn't fixed the issue. I've sent in support tickets but I've gotten 0 responses. I'm not really sure how long it takes for them to get back but this is really stressful as I've been fairly busy and whenever I am free I'm unable to play due to this bug. It isn't my computer, it isn't any conflicting apps or such. Idk what it could be...
I've literally lossed all my new years gift equipment (Only found out about that recently lol) and a customized AK and a few pieces of armor as I tested out various maps to see if it was just some specific ones. This is ridiculous.
Anyone else have issues loading into a raid?
Just started happening to me in the last week, I start a raid, load in and it instantly crashes as soon as I see my player.
Tried both PMC and scav. No overclock in GPU Nvidia overlay disabled Cleared cache Reinstalled the game
Specs: i9 9600k 16gb XMP enabled 3070 Game on intel p660
You might want to contact support through BSG launcher. Meanwhile, try offline raid. Try going in with nothing on your PMC incase its the dogtag case. Although they did patch that if i recall
Yeah I'll try to contact them, Ive tried offline raid too same issue but didn't try with nothing on my PMC. So I'll give that a go
Activate RAM loading into to you ssd/hdd (paging file). There was a YouTube video about this.
Do you have a nearly full dogtag case in your secure container? Its a known crash when you carry too many unique items into raid.
Nah I don't, I'm only level 5 so pretty new to the game The game was working fine before?
If anyone is looking for a new server dm me, all skill levels welcome, we have lots of tarkov events including tournaments with considerable prizes, not to mention lots of nice teammates, all ready to grind on wipe! 🙂
With all due respect, I don't think this is the place for it.
It says in the post to use this thread as LFG, I thought I’d try and help with that?
I just picked up the game and have no clue what I'm doing. What's the best wiki/guide to get me started?
Also, how do I find an extract point? I think I've been sniped at the borders of the game world? Is that a thing to demarcate the edges?
Best thing is to get actual help. Original post has a link to Sherpa Hub.
Come here and ask questions. Make a sherpa ticket and get help from a sherpa. Currently we are getting to people within a couple days. When we are really busy though it can take up to three weeks though. Please keep in mind when busy sherpa hibachi alone is getting a couple hundred tickets a month, just on north America. So it can take awhile.
The looking for help section us also great. We have a lot of experienced members willing to help as well.
Personally I would suggest looking for help for immediate basic help, like finishing a task, finding exits, etc.. Sherpa will typically give more in depth help give aproper lesson instead of simply playing with you. Experiences will differ greatly though depending on who you get of course.
I’d highly suggest looking into pestilys YouTube guides he is very informative. Also, to learn maps and their extracts I’d suggest running your pmc in offline mode with a map up on another monitor or your phone and then using your scav on that same map.
I’d suggest trying to learn customs or shoreline since they are easier to avoid pvp. And there is one area on customs and reserve where an invisible sniper scav will kill you if you go out of bounds but that’s about it. Good luck!
There are invisible sniper scavs at certain map edges that kill you pretty quick if you cross an out of bounds area. These are normally marked with signs. If you go offline to customs, behind old gas station on the railroad tracks there is an example of the sign and deadly sniper. Some maps also have land mines to be aware of too. Woods has unmarked land mine area near USEC camp.
Going offline raids with your pmc to learn the maps will be really helpful as well as loading into a raid with a map on another monitor or phone ☺️
GL! if you need help don't hesitate to join the Sherpa hub discord, a lot of people there to help (link in initial post).
Thanks, I was wondering why I could never spot the sniper.
If your looking for additional links (Which can be found in the Sherpa HUB) I got you with some good ones 🙂
Official Wiki:
If you play any map but Reserves (Which I recommend not playing reserves starting off)
All maps Sept Reserves:
Nice interactive map, you can always also join the discord like Stinky said and get in here for some one on one help 🙂
Hej!
I am a fresh out of the oven Sherpa, and i pride myself in the knowledge of Tarkov and a living testimony that you can always learn more in this game! I´m not generally the "Chäddiest" of the players, I rely to gaining advantage on my enemies by not rushing and gushing them!
So if you have trouble surviving raids and questing, HMU on discord! You can find me in the Sherpa Hub!
I got in the program to learn too! If you´re new, I hope to see you around in the discord and if you´re Sherpa material, I recommend you get in on the helping train! It really does give you some amazing perspective! If you think you´re up to it, becoming a sherpa gives you access to a well of knowledge for tarkov.
Macromongoose out!
I just got the game, but i am having trouble getting in the map.
Load times are between 5 and 15 minutes both as skav and pmc. As skav either i am dead before i could move 5 ft or the game is already over / nearly over < 10 min. As pmc i tend to spawn at 43 min.
And both as skav / pmc if i do load into a game i have about 50 % chance to have unplayable performance or poor but playable performance.
I also frequently get kicked out of the game with various messages leading to another 5-15 min load time.
Specs:
I have a 3 year old hp pavilion, with intel i5 cpu nvidea 1050 TI graphics card. eft is installed on hdd. SSD has about 10-12 gb free but i don't like using a drive to its absolute limit. Maybe i can find some old files to delete to make some space. 8gb ram which is ~ 90% used while running only tarkov. Any tips on how to increase performance to playable levels? What i tried:
graphics on minimum limited servers to < 15 ms pingWhat i might try but am hesitant to:
install on SSD, but i don't have much space there. reinstall windows. Is gone take some time. buy and install a bigger SSD.One of the messages that kicked me of the game said that the cheater detection system lost connection. Obviously i don't run cheats. But i am worried that i get banned for having bad performance either network or laptop. Should i be worried about that? Should i check my antivirus?
EfT is more CPU heavy first and formost. You should still try to upgrade to 16GB RAM otherwise you might not be able to player larger maps without crashing the game all the time. Also try to install EfT on the SSD, otherwise you will load in later than the rest which is a huge disadvantage.
You need to make room on the SSD for Tarkov. I would also consider 16GB of memory the requirement.
