I just started playing The Zodiac Age on the switch a few days ago and I’m loving it so far. I just got through the mine and I was confused about some story stuff so I looked it up because idk what else to do. In the summary on some wiki I read that Gabranth looked like Basch when he took his mask off. I don’t remember that at all. Is it PS2 era graphics, am I face blind or did I spoil myself?

Basch himself tells the party almost immediately that his brother is the one who slew the king and that he was framed, and Gabranth and Basch will have several back and forths as the game goes on. It’s not a huge spoiler, could be much worse.

I also had a similar disconnect, so don't feel bad. It shows his face before and he looks a lot like Basch but then when you see Basch he is no longer clean shaven and has a scar so my mind didn't completely put the two together at first. I mean it did for a second but I just internally wrote it off as "they look similar", (I actually got so confused that for a split second I thought Gab WAS Basch)
So yeah, it sent my brain for some mental gymnastics as well. BUT you're basically supposed to know this when Gab is talking to Basch while he is locked up in jail still, so pretty early.
I wouldn't consider it much of a spoiler, like how in FFX Sin is Jecht. The game lets you know pretty early so it's really just a spoiler for the first hour or so.
Now a real spoiler for FFX would be something like (I'm serious, real spoiler) Sir Auron is actually unsent even though there are very subtle clues throughout the game, including an off hand comment by Maester Seymour, you don't find out plainly until 2/3rds of the way into the campaign which is a very long time.
