Fighting companion post-Earth crystal?

Just left the Floating Continent, but a concern I have--will I have access to an AI companion who can attack/cast spells at some point after getting the jobs from the Earth Crystal, and who I could take back to Ur?

There are other companions after this point, yeah, but they have other destinations than Ur.
