So, after 5 years of the remaster and FFVII getting a remake. Are we gonna get a FFX remake for PS5 or are we going to get another remaster?

1 : Anonymous2021/03/06 09:50 ID: lyyfuw

I'm saying the chances are slim but after FFVII, FFX is one of the most sold Final Fantasy games. I'd love to see a remake since they also made FFX visually appealing to show off the PS2 in that time so it would be nice to have a remake to show off the PS5 XD.

(For the ones curious about the sold games, first place is the OG FFVII, then FFX, after that FFXV, in fourth FFVIII, and last is FFXIII)

I sincerely hope not in regards to a remake.

I’d take a lifetime of remasters over any remake and subsequent story changes that would come along with it.

If the remake only entails gameplay facets and not huge story changes, I’m okay with that.

Let the downvotes commence.

No I agree with you

ID: gpy2g81

I agree. This game is so precious. And it still holds up really well, in my opinion.

ID: gpyu7h9

Yeah, I think what would bother me the most is if they went the FF7 Remake route and split and FFX remake into multiple parts. I just don't think that works with the story of X, because it's supposed to feel like this constant series of events that are paced well for the pilgrammage. However, I wouldn't mind them adding more scenes like 7R did, I think they did a great job expanding the characters even more, especially with modern day graphics. Just being able to see the X characters look close to their cg selves in-engine would be dope.

ID: gpx5yha

I haven't played 7 nor the remake, did they change that much of the story? If it's a remake true to the OG then there isn't a problem right?

ID: gpzn5il

Totally agree, the only way I would except a remake is if it was absolutely restricted to models and maybe other ambient changes like sound.

ID: gpzz4y2

How about they just make a new Final Fantasy that is on par with the gameplay, story, characters, etc. of FFVII and FFX?

(In case this isn’t obvious enough, yes, I have zero interest in FFXV — never played it, but from what I saw of it, it didn’t appeal to me)

ID: gq15310

I agree.

ID: gpxyi1s

I will never understand this line of thinking. If they make gameplay/story changes you don't like then you can always replay the original. It's not like you're trading in the original for something new and you can never play it again.

ID: gpyig6w

ffx is a great game and all, but it can be a bit janky, the combat system is easily exploitable, the story is often long, drawn out, and not as good as it could be, and there's a lot that could be "CUT" but that you're essentially forced to do.

3 : Anonymous2021/03/06 10:15 ID: gpwxhzb

Just my ( unpopular) opinion, don’t get me wrong, I love FFX but FFVIII is hands down my favorite of all time and fans that were excited about the remastered got ripped off so I think before anything else happens the underdog fans off FFVIII should get the game they deserved in the first place. Not to mention they should start going in order because I would also love to see a full blown, gorgeous version of IX as well sometime soon!

ID: gpwyxm7

I appreciate your opinion and I'd really love to play an FF9 remake too. I was also kinda thinking from some kind of profitable business way cause FF10 is the second best selling Final Fantasy game so that would give square enix technically more reason to remake it, alongside that it is a popular game. But besides that I'd be happy with a FF9 or FF8 remake

ID: gpzwb47

i agree with a remake for ffviii before ffx! imo, the graphics for ffx still hold up pretty well for today, it has voice dialogue, amazing cutscenes...i feel like it’s too soon for a remake.

whereas a ffviii remake could truly make the story and characters come even more to life. i could hope that they’d clear up a little bit more of the story too. i think what ffviii was missing was a little bit more development with the friendships between the main cast so a remake could absolutely do this justice!

EDIT: also real time battle with a gun blade would be sick AF. would love to see improvements to the junction system too

4 : Anonymous2021/03/06 11:24 ID: gpxc35q

I think a remake is only necessary for two things: story improvements or gameplay improvements.

FFX needs neither.

With that in mind, I’d love to see a remake for FFII (though perhaps something on the same level as the FFIII remake rather than FFVII’s) or FFI (with Dissidia’s Warrior of Light).

ID: gpy55sa

100% agreed

FFX does not need a remake. The remaster is more than adequate enough. Still plays fine.

They should prioritise older FF games like 4-6 and Chrono Trigger / Chrono Cross

ID: gpzlipi

The gameplay in X is worse than VII for a significant amount of the game. Grinding for spheres to stat max is about as unfun as it could possibly be. A lot of the game's superbosses are designed to be exploited with auto-phoenix instead of interesting strategy. The minigames are the worst in any game ever. Locking Lulu's celestial weapon behind dodging lightning 200 times is about the most mundane thing possible, and the same thing goes for Tidus with the chocobo hell. If they ever release FFX again, it definitely needs significant gameplay changes.

5 : Anonymous2021/03/06 10:12 ID: gpwwhzk

I don't think a remaster for FFX is in the works at least not at the moment.

They will probably prioritise FFX-3, and then maybe they will start thinking about a remake for X.

ID: gpyurjw

yeah I'm honestly hoping more for some sort of X-3, it may have been quite a while since X-2 but I think it would be cool if they marketed a story that's like "one last journey" for that cast of characters and Spira. I would definitrly want it to have a different tone than what we've seen before

6 : Anonymous2021/03/06 11:35 ID: gpxexv8

I think it’s too recent. Anything that played on the ps2 forward doesn’t really need remake. Playing the original 7, 8, or 9 is so painful. Waiting 30 seconds just for a random battle intro, dang.

7 : Anonymous2021/03/06 12:14 ID: gpxnkuc

I absolutely don't want a remake. Why mess with a near perfect game? The graphics still look gorgeous, especially in the remasters. Not to mention they'd probably split it into like 10 parts that would come out 4 years apart or some stupid garbage. Big no thank you on a remake. If they're going to remake a game, pick something that actually looks graphically obsolete, like 8 or 9 or one of the 2D games.

8 : Anonymous2021/03/06 15:30 ID: gpysw10

Would be nice to see 6-10 all get actually good remakes someday but honestly I don't think anyone gives enough hype for anything but VII even though each of them deserve it for different reasons, so financially I doubt Square will ever go for it, especially with how weak that VIII remaster was. Honestly it looked better using Tonberry mods on Steam version.

9 : Anonymous2021/03/06 16:00 ID: gpz0jsf

I’ll be honest, I think FFX is already a timeless masterpiece. It would be hard replicate it with next generation tech. If anything, I’m sure there are older FF titles that are quite good and deserve a remake.

I would love to see an 8 or 9 remake, they were my first games.

But if it happens, I wouldn’t complain. I’m always happy to see Yuna and her legendary guardians.

10 : Anonymous2021/03/06 13:00 ID: gpxy6d1

If there will be a FFX Remake I don't think it's going to happen for the next 10 years tbh.

The remastered version still looks good imo.

Inbe4 Remake I would be more thrilled to see a FFX-0, the story from braska, auron and jecht.

There are a lot of FF who deserve an overhaul more than FFX does. Don't get me wrong I love FFX it's also my favourite game but FF6 could get some love it's also really popular. Personally never played 13 so a remaster ps5 package would be really cool I guess.

11 : Anonymous2021/03/06 14:19 ID: gpydhxj

They have the source code I believe, so no remake is necessary.

The reason why FF7 was a prime candidate was because it was a game very early in the 3d polygonal graphics, which look very blocky and don't hold up today. It's also recognized by many as one of the greatest games of all time. We can argue if that's true or just nostalgia but if you saw the crowd reaction to the tech demo that was released by Playstation, the demand from fans was clearly there. Keep in mind this 20+ year old game has had 2 spin off games, and a movie that were quite successful.

Perhaps after they've remade more classics they can go back to FFX, but we're a long ways off of that.

12 : Anonymous2021/03/06 15:18 ID: gpyq5d7

I just want a remaster with updated graphics. Keep the game play and story the same and just show us Spira with modern graphics

ID: gpyv91u

same, it may be a bit of wishful thinking, but I just want to be able to see Spira and all the cutscenes and stuff with modern day graphics. FF7 remake was stunning in that regard, especially how they captured the characters, they looked close to how they do in the cg

13 : Anonymous2021/03/06 11:57 ID: gpxkc9b

As much as I love FFX, I think we need remakes for 4,5, and 6 first. And Chrono Trigger too lol.

ID: gpxkuv8

I get and really feel that we need remakes for the older games too but i was also thinking in a business perspective 🙂 y'know FFX is the highest selling final fantasy right after FFVII so that's why I thought they might remake that next

14 : Anonymous2021/03/06 14:05 ID: gpya90i

I'd love to see what they would make out of it.

But as others said, I don't think it is going to happen the next years and not for PS5. They are at FFXVI right now and they need to go on with the FFVII remake. I love the first part, but it annoys me that I don't know how many more parts and when are there to come. Also the money....it's expensive. :/

15 : Anonymous2021/03/06 15:45 ID: gpywq18

Honestly yeah, I would love it, maybe more in an indulgent way, because I would just like to see there be hype about that world/characters again. It's definitely true that X is the second most popular, so in a financial manner, it would be logical for them to look to it and see the potential for the remake. I just wonder if they would be willing to dedicate that much in resources (7R is a huge undertaking with multiple parts) and if they would feel like the ship has sailed with some of the key staff being gone who would want to tackle the X universe again.

But in terms of what it would entail, just seeing Spira and the characters in-engine with modern day graphics would be a treat itself. Perhaps an X-3 is another option and we can get a story set years after the last game, a swan song to that world/cast. Either way, I would be happy.

16 : Anonymous2021/03/06 17:23 ID: gpzj6c8

theres not going to be a remake of X. Just not necessary. FFVII needed a remake because it looked like garbage. X looked good , and the remaster HD-ified it. Its perfect as is. Also, its a bad idea to remake a game that is fully voice acted.

17 : Anonymous2021/03/06 17:25 ID: gpzjmfq

They wont do a remake of ffx, for the reason the graphics are ok and thats about the only reason for a remake now when the ps6 comes out then maybe when they make a full dive vr then maybe but not for ffx, if anything theyll remake ff8 ff9 ff6 way before ffx because ffx is the first full 3d ffx one of the first games with HD scenes so they wont do a remake of it just yet

18 : Anonymous2021/03/06 18:34 ID: gpzsv9k

We‘ll get the remaster as a port I think. That’s it. I even think this is the best solution ...

19 : Anonymous2021/03/06 20:51 ID: gq0j8al

I'd say we're more likely to get a X 3 before a remake of X

20 : Anonymous2021/03/07 07:18 ID: gq2sf1b

That would just be wishful thinking... ffx looks pretty good ff7 looked like fn legos but the story was so good and nostalgia was so strong they had to

21 : Anonymous2021/03/06 12:23 ID: gpxpw8r

Probably an unpopular opinion. But I don't really want a remake. I play 7 remake and idk, it's a bit much. I think it lost something from the original. I love the turn the based combat of x I love the summonings character designs and sphere grid. I think they would end up with a complete overhaul of those things along with real time button mash combat and it would just feel too generic. Just my opinion

22 : Anonymous2021/03/07 16:25 ID: gq3xgjv

If we need a remake of any FF game it needs to be VI. Yeah it needs to be VI.

23 : Anonymous2021/03/06 12:31 ID: gpxrxty

I hope we get a blitz ball only game

24 : Anonymous2021/03/06 11:50 ID: gpxika4

I personally would love to have a remake for FFX , even if the story remain unchanged which is fine for me , maybe perhaps I would want to experience remake FFX as how remake ff7r combat is , imagine running around with Yuna while Ifrit follows u around and unleash Hellfire to mobs in calm land ? I would love to see that ! Or we may even get to ride on Valefor and fly the part she jumped down from bevelle marriage with Seymour like a mini game ! Ugh

ID: gpxla1j

I'd love to have a new combat system on FFX, i still haven't played X-2 cause the active/timed combat system is scaring me cause you have so many options. But the system in the newer games looks easier than that so I'd love to have a way to kite enemies with tidus 🙂
