It’s too often the case that good requests just get buried and ignored in new, but the requests that reach hot get over-saturated with tons of suggestions (90% of which, OP probably won’t play).
It would be way more useful if a lot more people sorted by new so that there’s more of a balance between posts being ignored and posts being suggestion bombed.

Additionally, the people making posts should be reading the rules and suggestions when they make a post so that the commenters that are sorting by New can make more tailored recommendations.
ID: gq6uzdpIm not sure what this subreddit rules have to do with anything. More like people should read what is actually in the post. Many ppl dont even read through a smaller post and recommend that way.

As an added bonus, posting in new threads is the best way to get your comment seen by the most people, as it's always the early comments that rise to the top of a thread gets good visibility.

Way more people should also read the actual posts. It's kind of ridiculous how people constantly recommend games that the OP says they've already played.

i always sort by new and trust me, the posts are mere trickles. This sub isnt as active as you think it is

Posts are getting buried and ignored in new because the people who are browsing there aren't upvoting them, not because they aren't being seen. Also there are few enough posts on this subreddit that you can see new posts on the first or second page of the sub, you don't have to sort by new.

The problem is that you can say that, but the majority of people won't even see this, let alone go "oh, you're right, I should do that". Way too many people don't care about stuff like that, just making a post like this sadly has little to no effect in my experience

Just saying it’s much more useful and worth people’s time if they suggest games on smaller posts in new instead of recommending Skyrim/Witcher 3 on a post which already has 90 suggestions.
