For the games:

Final Fantasy VII | September 7

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered | October 5

Final Fantasy IX | November 2

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster | December 7

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age | January 4, 2022

ID: hbddte6

They remastered VIII? My fave?

ID: hbde54l

Yeah like 2+ years ago

ID: hbdhb4z

It's a little between remaster and remade, but it's a great game. 1 of 3 are out now

3 : Anonymous2021/09/02 15:56 ID: hbbvkcm

Now they just need to port the first 6 games to PS4/PS5 and all will be right in the world.

ID: hbc1f5s

so disappointing when they announced that for Steam and mobile 🙁 I hope it comes to PS4 soon.

ID: hbcji38

My guess is this becomes a thing next year, after they finish ff 6 and then release it as a full "pack" at full price.

I'll probably buy it. Tempted to get it on the PC now to pay iv, but... This is a sofa and gamepad game, not a pc chair game lol

ID: hbdfmk5

They seem like perfect handheld games to me so I’ll probably buy them when I get my Deck ha. It’s gonna bug me having my FF collection split between platforms though.

ID: hbcypag

And then remaster 13 and we'll all have all single player mainline games plus XIV available on a modern Playstation console

ID: hbdp9jj

Now they just need to launch PS Now in more countries.

Was hoping they’d put the 13 series on there but then I remembered they haven’t put a PS3 game on there in a long time

5 : Anonymous2021/09/02 16:40 ID: hbc2ba4

FFXIII trilogy, when?

ID: hbc88w6

13 was on ps now when it launched but was removed soon after for whatever reason. I remember beating it on my vita.

Why they are adding games available on ps4/5 instead of the 13 trilogy which is still locked to ps3 is beyond me

ID: hbd76bx

I'm assuming its going to be another "full price, full trilogy" release in the future, maybe when the other bundle falls in sales.

6 : Anonymous2021/09/02 19:19 ID: hbcqbdo

Guess that means I'm playing FF9

7 : Anonymous2021/09/02 15:17 ID: hbbpzt7

Never played any of these (Did play the new VII remake), which ones worth playing today?

ID: hbbqd6r

I’ve personally played 7, 8, and 10 and they were all fantastic. The remaster version of 10 is a bit rougher to get through than the others though because it lacks features like 3x speed, etc.

I’ve heard through many friends that I’d like 9 just as much as I liked the others, I just haven’t gotten around to playing it yet

ID: hbc49un

I loved 9 as a kid. Magical, and the card games and collecting the cards <3.

The 4 discs that you needed to swap so you can play further... Good memories!!

ID: hbcfgl6

X might have not aged well for some, but I consider it the best PS2 Final Fantasy, as someone who loved XII.

It also might be just my favourite Final Fantasy period.

IX is also amazing. Great story. Great characters. Great music.

X probably has the greatest soundtrack of all time though, IMO.

ID: hbcz9r7

9 is thematically the best and deepest out of the ps1/ps2 era

ID: hbby7q4

I personally would put 7, 8, 9 and 10 within the 20 best games ever made. (Obviously it's gonna be very dependent on your own taste whether you would feel similarly or not). 12 is still excellent just doesn't quite hit the same heights. And 10-2 I didn't really care for but it has it's fans.

ID: hbccc08

12 is in my top 3 all time games, accounting for nostalgia.

ID: hbcil3v

12 is very underrated. Its not the easiest story to follow or the most magical/emotional but the sheer size of the game and the side quests really make it shine.

ID: hbbvtic

7 if you like straight up scifi, 8 if you like WEIRD shit in plots, 9 if you want the most complete gameplay and story experience, 10 if you want to cry, and 12 if you want real time combat.

9 is pretty much the best game in the series after 6. 8 and 10 have arguments too but they’re a lot more subjective, relating to how you deal with melodrama/plot twists/confusing lore, but 9 is very straight up. Plus, unlike every other game from 7-15, 9 is actually a high fantasy type setting.

ID: hbbszqn

10 is the tightest experience and many fans rank it as number 1, like I do. Story and lore are as good as it comes. It's the last of the pre-rendered games, meaning you can't move the camera but I love the direction and style that comes from it - lots of secrets hidden this way too. Can't recommend it enough.

ID: hbc3tju

i'm assuming you haven't played in a while, but 10 is very very not pre-rendered. 9 is the last one that is pre-rendered backgrounds

ID: hbdd96v

The camera isn’t fixed though. But you also can’t look around. The camera is basically always focused toward the goal of your pilgrimage, so you mostly walk away from the camera.

ID: hbcfhl8

Honestly all of the “golden age” Final Fantasy games are absolute must plays if you’re into JRPGS. My personal ranking of the golden age is FF 9, 6, 8, 7, 10, 4, 5. Don’t overlook 9 (or 6, a remaster is coming out on PC soon), it’s way less famous than 7 or 8 but even after playing almost everything it’s still my favourite game in the series.

ID: hbc3t3e

All of them tbh.

ID: hbcce1k

Yep 7-12 were the Golden Age of FF. Its been spotty since. I dont think you could go wrong playing any of them. Personal faves being 9 and 10 for me.

ID: hbd4uxi

10 is the best one. I’ve played it on all the consoles it has been released on except PC. I’m waiting to buy it there.

8 : Anonymous2021/09/02 15:40 ID: hbbt9t2

this makes it look like final fantasy 16 will be out early 2022

ID: hbc0h2i

Second half more likely. Square Enid’s investor call made it clear that the first half of 2022 would be focusing on new IP compared to the second half. I could see a summer 2022 release date for 16.

ID: hbdqbgi

I’m guessing a little before summer. April-May I think

9 : Anonymous2021/09/02 15:58 ID: hbbvxew

Here is hoping they will not be removed!!!

10 : Anonymous2021/09/02 17:10 ID: hbc6ybp

no love for sabin (ffvi)?

ID: hbdjer6

Man, I cant think of a game I would more like to see get the full FF7 sized remake treatment than FF6. I've played through that game 4 or 5 times since I was a kid and it's just so good.

11 : Anonymous2021/09/02 16:34 ID: hbc1c8g

Fuck yes!

12 : Anonymous2021/09/02 16:52 ID: hbc44y7

That's hot

13 : Anonymous2021/09/02 19:29 ID: hbcrr4s

How about bring PS now to Australia while your at it? Please?

14 : Anonymous2021/09/02 21:38 ID: hbdait5

There's other final fantasy games besides ffxiv??

15 : Anonymous2021/09/02 23:49 ID: hbdr9ps

I’m happy they’re releasing ff7 original version. The new one sucks so badly

16 : Anonymous2021/09/02 16:10 ID: hbbxpe5

Free to play?

ID: hbbz03j

No?

17 : Anonymous2021/09/02 17:59 ID: hbceaz3

Why not all at the same time??? And where's FF XIII??? This wouldn't happen if PS5 was Backward compatible with PS3.

ID: hbd49iz

I am hoping the reason for no XIII news is because they're going to announce the trilogy pack for PS5 during Tokyo Game Show.

18 : Anonymous2021/09/02 18:51 ID: hbclzl3

Final Fantasy XIII still MIA...
