- God of War: Ragnarok already appears in the 'coming soon' section on the PlayStation website.
-
Anywhere between March - June 2022 seems plausible.
ID: hdgqjmhID: hdh51u5It's weird, Sony titles don't seem to release in the Fall.
ID: hdh6wlsThey even gave spider-man 2 a date, but not god of war. Wouldn't be surprised it it slips into 2023 as well.
ID: hdgrsbvEvery mainline game as well as Ascension released in March, and originally the 2018 game was supposed to as well. So I wouldn't be surprised if that's their internal goal date. Whether or not they make the date is another question.
ID: hdgsz00Seems a little close to the Horizon launch, but I'm not complaining if that turns out true.
ID: hdhavjrWould kinda be tradition of being the swan song for the console. God of war 2 released after the PS3 was out and still blew away anything on that console at the time. Still crazy to think about. I had a 360 already for over a year and GOW2 hit like a thunderbolt and was better than anything on the new consoles. I could see them wanting it to be the PS4 swan song title and just upgraded for PS5 but everything got delayed with covid. I bet they wanted it out like spring of this year.
ID: hdgszr6Horizon 2 in February and you think another big AAA sony studio would release within 3 months? I mean, I'm down but I could see it being October-November. We'll see.
Update: You all make some good points based on past trends. I'll be hyped if it happens!
ID: hdgtq07they did returnal and ratchet two months apart this year.
last year, GoT and TLOU2 were a month apart
2018, we got GOW, 2 months after that was Detroit, 2 months after that was Spider-Man
I would not be shocked if this game is May or June.
ID: hdgtib2In 2020 Sony released The Last of Us Part II on June 19th and Ghost of Tsushima on July 17th.
Both were massive AAA titles that sold extremely well.
ID: hdgtf7rWell the past 2 years they released TLOU2 & GoT within a month or so of each other, and Returnal & R&C within a month of each other, so it's not that crazy

I will say, it was weird seeing a full story trailer for the first actual trailer. To me that kinda indicates that the game is further along than they are leading on.
ID: hdgqqzjIt was originally slated to release this year, not super surprising
ID: hdh1606Yeah, after the trailer we got, it made me think that they were it not for COVID, they may have actually made a 2021 release. It looks a lot further along than I had assumed, and was (imo) not just a vertical slice like we got for 2018's initial reveal
ID: hdhf6czYeah, but for some reason that's been written off by the entire gaming community as Sony lying in order to sell consoles with literally no evidence at all.
ID: hdgtsqnIt was originally coming out this year so it's definitely almost finished and probably a first half 2022 game
ID: hdhb0ejI dont think it was. Hear me out tho. If this is the last in the norse saga, then what we got BETTER be just the first like 25% of the story/game or maybe even less.
Dude, we gotta kill Odin. Atreus has to become a fully fledged loki of some sort, and freya has to have some sort of baldur reckoning. I think its incredibly likely thah thor falls quickly and mjolnir is a weapon. If not.....well i dont really know where we're going here without a third game .....
ID: hdhgmx8No one talking about jormungandr time travel
-
Aren’t FF16 and Hogwarts Legacy also listed as coming soon? Means absolutely nothing.
ID: hdh5sb6Dude I’m just as hyped for that hogwarts game! Shit looks fun as fuck. Ima be riding my nimbus casting spells and selling potions
ID: hdi17pgI would keep your expectations low and be surprised if it is good. Look at the games that company has developed previously. This is a huge jump for them and could very well be a shit show. I really hope it's the Harry Potter games I've wanted for years though.
-
FFXVI, Forspoken, and FF Origins do too. But there is a 0% chance Square releases all 3 in a single year. It would be bad business. We will get Forspoken in spring 2022, FF Origins fall 2022, and FFXVI summer of 2023 as that year's big game. They prob don't want to release it the same year as GoW and HFW.
Tldr coming soon probably doesn't mean too much since at least one of Square's coming soon games is at least 1.5 years away.
ID: hdhqvumYea, they literally add a tile for every game when it is announced these days. This means nothing.
-
I’m pretty sure Gran Turismo 7 has been in that spot since the release of the PS5 and it’s almost been a year
-
HFW in February Gt7 in March GOWR in April end or June
That's one hell of a first half of the year.....and then we have Forspoken and Ghost wire Tokyo in Second half
ID: hdgven3Don't forget elden ring
ID: hdgvmogThat's my most anticipated game right now, but I was just listing exclusive games, that's why.....
ID: hdhnd5rOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH ELDEN RING
ID: hdhu6hrAaaah . . . A lowly tarnished
ID: hdgta2fForspoken has a spring release window. I believe GoW will release in the fall.
ID: hdhq2m6This year is going to be insane for PlayStation players like what I’m so excited
-
Their idea of "soon" extends to years into the future. Hogwarts legacy had been "coming soon" for over a year now, and there hasn't even been a second trailer
ID: hdh5u6eI will also be able to buy a PS5 ”soon”
-
let’s be real nobody takes the coming soon section seriously
ID: hdh4p4fSome of the games they list feel so far out. I swear some of the voice actors for these games aren't even born yet.
ID: hdh5tliright, when Little Devil Inside has been there since console launch it’s hard to care at all about that section
ID: hdhr1f0It only exists to make the store/PS5 seem like it has more AAA games when browsing.
-
i can see Sony dropping it in the first half of 2022 if they have another "blockbuster" type game for the fall
ID: hdgt75tFF16 for fall 2022
ID: hdgyd1tDon’t give me hope
ID: hdh2i9yLmao
-
I just want hogwarts legacy
-
It will definitely not launch in January, early February. This much I can say
-
First half of 2022 probably.
ID: hdgx8jbProb right in mid 2022.
-
Would love it to drop during the summer drought
-
Me too, then.
-
Never heard of it.
-
Surprised to see all the hopes and expectations for early 2022. I would love for it to release in March/April and I know the history of release dates with GOW but I got the feeling it's not coming until Holiday 2022, like November. I'll gladly be wrong
-
i still need to finish the first one

Just hope they don’t pull the “releasing 2022” until the last quarter.
