Assassin's Creed Infinity will not be a free-to-play game, Ubisoft says
2 : Anonymous2021/10/28 18:45 ID: hiexuos

It'll have all the mechanics of a Free to Play game and they'll still charge $60

ID: hif1usw

You misspelled $70.

ID: hif3qtn

It’s $80 now buddy

ID: hifh38y

Ubisoft has been one of the few sticking with 60 so far and it’s nowhere near as gatcha as Genshin.

ID: hife0wj

120 ultimate edition

ID: hify3g1

And then they'll have "Year N Pass" to charge you even more to play.

ID: hifp954

All the “surprise mechanics” that is.

3 : Anonymous2021/10/28 19:25 ID: hif3zne

Of course not.

It will be milked like one after you purchase it as a full priced retail game.

4 : Anonymous2021/10/28 18:43 ID: hiexj1l

It will have all the hallmarks of a F2P game, but since it's also a beloved IP, Ubisoft will collect an entrance fee as well.

ID: hif0rtg

Charges for expansions, seasons and cosmetics. Plus team up with Amazon for Twitch kickbacks because the userbase are chumps. Fuck it, charges for end game content too!

(Screw you Bungie)

ID: hif0z5g

New content usually costs money

5 : Anonymous2021/10/28 19:41 ID: hif6cl4

Wait am I stupid or have all the assassins creed games not been free to play. I don’t remember playing a single game that was free. But I’m not sure if it was on the pan store for free at some point

ID: hif7mpt

They are simply refuting rumors that were suggesting the next AC game would be F2P.

ID: hig0ktl

Other Assassin's Creed games also haven't been "Games as a Service", so the rumor was out there that it might be F2P.

6 : Anonymous2021/10/28 19:53 ID: hif877n

If they create a single “hub” and release expansions that are tightly written open world stories that explore different times, and I can choose what expansions to buy—if I want to go to Rome, I buy that expansion, but if I don’t want to go to Carthage, I don’t have to buy it—I will purchase that “hub” to get access to the ability to choose expansions. Yes, it will cost more in the long run. But to me, choosing my AC experience could really be a game changer. Especially if more than one expansion is released a year.

The animus would make a lot more sense.

Also. I loved Odyssey but Valhalla was meh, so imagine choosing Greece and ignoring England (for me); if you like Origins, choosing Egypt but not Greece, etc. but we just had three separate games to choose from over the years, no choices except not to participate at all.

Idc about cosmetics. And “season passes” would be silly, if they did the above. That would be a turn off.

Also, I would go to Carthage.

ID: hifpbu0

I picture you being the guy thrown out the office window in that meme about new ideas

ID: hifr21s

Yeah, but at Ubi that guy isn't thrown out the window. He's promoted. LOL

ID: hifzo9t

Where do you want to go again? I forgot

7 : Anonymous2021/10/28 21:21 ID: hifl6og

Sounds like a live service AC game, just what nobody wanted

ID: hifzazr

Couldn’t have said it better myself

8 : Anonymous2021/10/28 20:57 ID: hifhsho

It'll just play like one.

9 : Anonymous2021/10/28 19:01 ID: hif0aqb

As I love Assassins Creed, I’m ready for more! Bring it!

ID: hifdo72

Same, mate. The last three have been fucking incredible, can’t wait to see the next one

ID: hifep13

Yeah, Valhalla as of late has really sunk its teeth into me. I just love exploring the world, finding hidden areas, running into goofy quests.

Lol like the stink egg quest.

Yeah, Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla have been great fun!

10 : Anonymous2021/10/28 20:41 ID: hiffapb

But it sure as shit will still have microtransactions.

11 : Anonymous2021/10/28 21:43 ID: hifobfl

Why is everyone bashing on it as if assassins creed games a usually content light f2p games? Each game is usually packed with so much content that people complain about it.

Plus it’s micro-transactions are pretty non-intrusive. It’s either dlc storylines with new areas, cosmetics or timesavers. The only crappy bit is the weapons and armours, but the base game usually has sufficient thematic gear compared to the flashy shiny things in the store.

If you want to bash the games, do it for the repetitive laundry list of chores they bloat the game with. The fact that it’s more an RPG with minor stealth elements than a game about assassins. The game breaking release bugs that go beyond the usual rpg jank. Or the fact that the modern day story is always full of unfulfilled potential.

ID: hig10bq

The recent games are riddled with awful f2p-style MTX. Yeah, the games are big, but so are plenty of other F2P games like Genshin and Warframe. I honestly can’t stand what AC has become.

12 : Anonymous2021/10/28 20:18 ID: hifbx1u

So what this is the new move for all games? Call them Infinity and make them infinite live service games?

13 : Anonymous2021/10/28 21:08 ID: hifjb6p

14 : Anonymous2021/10/28 22:40 ID: hifvyv9

Buy2Play, with Subscription, Microtransactions and DLC Expansions

15 : Anonymous2021/10/28 19:00 ID: hif07fn

They better bring back the multiplayer mode

ID: hif19qt

I second this. I really miss the multiplayer.

ID: hif98mb

Haven't played AC since Black Flag. Multiplayer would get me back

ID: hif9kqf

Completely agree. The PvP was enjoyable, but man did I love the Wolfpack mode they added in the last few games that still had MP.

16 : Anonymous2021/10/28 20:01 ID: hif9bze

Ubisoft seems to be just throwing everything out there and...hoping something sticks. It seems like it's been one fiasco after another with their announcements.

17 : Anonymous2021/10/28 19:23 ID: hif3ngb

‘It won’t be free to play’

1) Start $60 2) frequent sales, nah every sale 3) gamepass? 4) free to play weekends 5) psn game of the month 6) new yearly major expansion worth of content and repackage and sell as ultimate for $60 again and repeat, basically Destinyesque

Meanwhile over time the amount you can buy in the game will balloon. But I don’t even mind, it kind of works with the AC franchise, Abstergo being a stand in for Ubi etc. In a way this is what AC was meant to become, like step into the simulator and into a variety of games worth of worlds and adventures.

18 : Anonymous2021/10/28 19:36 ID: hif5jbq

And have all the characters in every AC games as priced DLC for extra money

19 : Anonymous2021/10/28 20:31 ID: hifdtob

What multiplayer did AC have that everyone is raving about? Am I missing something or are you guys talking about AC Unity?

ID: hifswfv

Everyone looked the same, including npcs, and you had to figure out who’s the assassin. You couldn’t just go around killing everyone either. It was cool being stealthy trying to find hints on who your bounty is. Though the last time I played MP was Black Flag I think.

20 : Anonymous2021/10/28 20:36 ID: hifeme3

Don’t worry Ubisoft nobody cares. We know it’s gonna be a shitstorm

21 : Anonymous2021/10/28 20:37 ID: hifesnj

They're dabbling with missions based in small open areas in far cry. I don't think it's feasible to to open worlds for all the characters that have been talked about for infinite, so I think the game will be like the special operations from far cry, built like the black box missions from Syndicate era . With a hub area.

I really enjoy the spec ops, possibly more than the main game area. As long as there is still an open world hub area with things to do , this would be a really good formula.

I'd make the main hub a bit smaller, but more dense. With new skills and things opening up new routes and areas.

22 : Anonymous2021/10/28 21:16 ID: hifkhgk

No shit, it's ubisoft.

23 : Anonymous2021/10/28 22:17 ID: hifsyyx

What is that name though

24 : Anonymous2021/10/28 22:26 ID: hifu2lf

25 : Anonymous2021/10/28 22:31 ID: hifuthl

If we have online naval battles take my fucking money already. PREPARE YOUR BOOTYS!

26 : Anonymous2021/10/28 23:04 ID: hifz3un

I Miss The Ac2 days

27 : Anonymous2021/10/28 23:11 ID: hifzzji

It will be a free to play level experience for 60 dollar plus mtx and weekly patches

28 : Anonymous2021/10/28 23:12 ID: hig06ip

Assassin’s Greed

30 : Anonymous2021/10/28 23:20 ID: hig17a8

I really enjoyed valhalla.. despite spending 117 hours to get the plat

31 : Anonymous2021/10/28 23:52 ID: hig59fb

No way you could have enjoyed valhalla, took me 130hrs to plat and once i got passed the "main" story i skipped most of the cut scenes and that still felt like a grind and a half. The story was average imo, good to see norse mythology but

32 : Anonymous2021/10/28 23:38 ID: hig3hcw

For me Assassin's Creed had some of the best multiplayer, shame they stopped it. If this is somewhat like that, I might check this out.

33 : Anonymous2021/10/28 20:03 ID: hif9n5f

Bring back multiplayer and I would come back
