Jesus that looks like the Intel stock cooler
ID: hj305orID: hj30r3jIt looks mindblowingly bad from the pics. You are right, it appears to be a simple extruded aluminium piece with no gaps for airflow. How can any company strap that to a modern GPU? It's a recipe for thermal disaster.

It is a pity that rarely available chips are wasted for such a bad hardware design.
ID: hj59g63At least it uses the reference PCB so you can replace the cooler with a different one that also was made with the reference RX 6600/6600 XT PCB in mind.

Hardware unboxed reviewed it and it was terrible
ID: hj2y81cThat was the 6600 XT, and to be more specific they characterised it as the worst graphics card ever.
TL;DW: An extremely shitty cooler on a card with a 160W TDP. Fans need to spin at near max at all times to keep the card cool at working temps, making it sound like a jet engine. Headphones won't help with this amount of noise.
Things won't be much better at a 132W TDP.
ID: hj4l1prI mean maybe they should review the Dell RTX 3090. I’m gonna say a 350 watt tdp dual slot two fan card is worse.
ID: hj4trkdif it's cheap enough I wouldn't mind, I have an extra Morpheus 2 lying around anyway (assuming, it's possible to bolt one on the card). Not that I'm looking for a card at 6600 performance range.
ID: hj303rlYeah I assume it’s gonna run a little cooler but still sound like a jet engine

Probably still cooler and quieter than my blower RX 480, haha
ID: hj67nzjNo, this is much louder than even a Vega blower.

Yeah and it's trash lol. Imagine putting the same passive cooler you usually see on non externally powered gpus.
Ah no wait, this piece of shit actually does lmao.

It's actually worse. At least an Intel stock cooler gets a lot of airflow through the (relatively) plentiful number of fins. This is basically just an oversized version of those aluminium motherboard heatsinks, so there's no free airflow through it.
