Long time Marvel fan and I bought this game on sale for Black Friday. Figured I’d enjoy some of the heroes before the game died out completely. To me, the upgradeability of old gear and the addition of “free” loot boxes is a Hail Mary. Great news for old players. But I don’t see how this game could ever be successful.

I’m with you there on the last sentence. This game would’ve been better in the MCU as your own characters not as well known heroes. Kinda like DCUO

I like playing the well known heroes. Iron Man works great. Ms. Marvel is super fun. (My kids are big fans of Ms. Marvel and I’m a big fan of crushing people with a giant fist.) The movie like versions are a bit uncanny valley. Should have gone comic book. It’s a video game. Be colorful.

If you aren't aware, the people behind DCUO are working on a Marvel game 🙂

So I got this game for $10 on sale at GameStop, and honestly the game isn’t that bad at all, and honestly I see the heart they put into making the game.

I think a lot of the hate are people who never even played it. That being said, it reminds me of War Frame with the complex gear and mission system (which sucks) and the end game is there but it is simply more looting which is fine if you’re into that.

That being said, I’m excited for this, and pick it up if you can get it for $20 or lower.

The core beat ‘‘em up gameplay is fine and, at times, really fun when you have a full squad of Avengers doing their thing to enemies. Speaking of enemies, they’re all the same; Even the ‘bosses’ are the same. Just when you think ‘Hey, now would be a good time to introduce that character or this race’ it turns out to be Taskmaster or the retreading the same level with the same bunker puzzle mechanic.

This game is really a testament to the strength of Marvel’s brand because the fact that people are still playing this mess is baffling to me. And this is from someone who was recently playing this mess.

The reason you don't think it's that bad is because you spent $10

and the end game is there but it is simply more looting which is fine if you’re into that.

The endgame isn't there and that's part of the problem with the game, there's nothing there besides the same 2 or 3 missions over and over, this raid is a step towards alleviating that but who knows how much longer they're going to release content for it. Hell this could be the last update if Square-Enix decide

Well after playing I would have spent like $40 on it personally. That’s my opinion.

To each their own though, I’m just sharing my thoughts, I don’t want to get in an argument over a video game, you may or may not hate. Also they plan supporting it in 2022, they stated in a livestream with more free updates.

Day one buyer here, its alright but grindy after the story is over. Was and may still be a buggy mess as well.

it would be so much better if they never gimped the leveling up. having to grind lower characters is such a chore now.

This game desperately tried to copy Destiny's looting but with none of the intelligence Bungie has towards making you want to chase better loot. The core bones of the game just aren't there after the story ends. It's entirely aimless.

Lol no, alot of the hate is not from people who have never played it, the only thing people who have never played it complain about is the character models, not the gameplay or game structure. Alot of its criticism is well deserved and has been noted by critics and users alike.

You downplay the hate/criticism of the game, yet tell people to pick it up at $20 or lower, so you obviously understand atleast some of the disappointments from people that paid full price for the game. Also, keep in mind that you are now playing a game that has been patched multiple times. I agree that it's an okay game for $20 or less for strictly the single-player experience, but even then there's even a whole slew of indie titles that I would put above this at that price point.

Nothing like war frame.

Raid looks great!

Wait they are adding loot boxes now lol

ID: hmkg0gu

Kind of but there's no way to spend real money on them, and if you open enough over time there's a guaranteed reward you're working toward.

ID: hmkg0ym

No, you can only buy them with in-game currency, and you can see what might be inside before you buy them.

ID: hmkbkss

I mean is it considered loot boxes if you can't buy them and you see what you're getting?

At that point what's a lootbox and what's just rng

are engrams in Destiny lootboxes?

are gear drops from defeating enemies in looters lootboxes?

There has to be a line somewhere

ID: hmkii52

I love the Destiny engram system, I'm all for a way to earn items in loot box's but not able to buy the box themselves.

ID: hml5r3f

They're lootboxes, just unpaid ones. There are a few games that circumvented gambling regulation by making you see the content of the next lootbox.

You're still gambling but it's on the next lootbox in line, not the current one.
