- Sony's VR ambitions go far beyond PlayStation | Opinion

It really does, if their claims to be able to track eyes efficiently are true then that's a huge deal and I remember reading before that is something that has been attempted, but never been done before.
It's also supposed to have significantly higher resolution, inside-out tracking, a vibration motor, and even foveated rendering. This is a HUGE leap from what we have now.

It would be amazing if PSVR2 worked on PC out of the box.
I would love to get into VR but the fact both my PlayStation and my PC would require two different headsets to play all the good VR games just seems stupid and made me skip it entirely
ID: ho7n7w5PSVR had some amazing experiences. Astrobot, Blood&Truth, Resident Evil 7, Farpoint, Firewall, Superhot, Saints and Sinners Walking Dead.
I'm pretty bummed I don't have an Occulus to play RE4, Medal of Honor, Half Life, etc but I still got to play a shit load of good VR games. Having one of them was better than not having either.
ID: ho5mlq8I really am praying they make it work on PC. They have a chance to really make a splash in the VR world but limiting it to PS5 isn’t the best idea imo

if it doesn't, there are programs that can be made that'll make it so you can use it anyways just like PSVR1. I use mine for squadrons and flight simulator 2020 on PC

Why make the peripheral just limited to PS HARDWARE?
ID: ho7jgepTo drive sales of your PS hardware? However, considering they have no problem selling PS hardware and likely won’t reach equilibrium for at least another 12 months, perhaps they’ll consider expanding the scope beyond the PS5 to PC. However, that decision would likely have to be made 18-36 months before (PC) launch.
ID: ho523baShame. Your missing out on some amazing experiences. I am the opposite and feel like I can’t have enough headsets. Lol. If you weee only going to get one, the Quest 2 is the best bang for the buck. Standalone and PCVR in the same headset.
ID: ho9m8d6The decision is pretty easy. Quest 2 for PCVR is probably the best VR option right now. You get completely wireless VR experience as well if you want. It’s easy to set up and use in any space due to superior inside out tracking.
And also with PC, as I upgrade my PC over time, all my older VR games will be playable at higher frame rates, settings, and resolutions. Anything you buy on PS VR will still be stuck being played on the old headset or might not be updated to take advantage of newer and better hardware. For now PC is the place to be for the best games. And quest has a lot of exclusive games that are really good too.

Good that they realise the potential for VR is huge beyond Playstaion, namely Pornhub.

Hoping for more information on this early next year

Would be smart for Sony to allow it to work on PC as well. Just make it a requirement that you have to have PS Plus or a similar subscription model to use VR if not on console. This would open up the library of PS VR games to PC and push a lot more subscription sales. Sony doesn't make much on console says to begin with.

Yeah, but can it run Crysis?
ID: ho5f26pI know this is a joke, but since Crysis is now on switch, I think it probably could.
ID: ho7urriYeah I was just playing around, but that would be crazy to see honestly!

I hope they have a VR headset soon that can work with glasses (prescription is too strong for contacts).

Research papers showing solid pupil tracking from consumer level headset mounted internally facing cameras have been a thing for a few years now. If Sony's isn't robust yet, it'd mean they're behind the competition, not that the tech isn't going to be here in this next generation of headsets.
