- How the DualSense controller enhances Deep Rock Galactic’s mining and combat
-
Yeah it’s great, I played on PC for a while so already knew the game but the way the adaptive triggers change based on your ammo and stuff is really nice. Shows the developers really love their game to be honest.

When you run out of ammo and it’s hard asf to push R2 it blows my mind
ID: ht2s9tnID: ht4gwn3Trigger resistance can actually be on full and you simply can't pull it, like when a gun jams
ID: ht2jd3wYeah I thought that was pretty awesome. Have to train my brain not to try to push it down when it gets that way.
ID: ht2ywahI actually find it weird, I almost break the controller when trying to shoot while reloading. Other shooters I play actually apply zero force when you dont have any ammo, shouldnt it be that way?
ID: ht31zkmI like the No ammo safety is on vibe of it.
ID: ht3kcn5Realistically, yeah, most firearms have pretty weak trigger pull when their action is locked back due to being out of ammo. The hammer is being held back, so the trigger is contacting less/nothing compared to when it's releasing the sear to drop the hammer during normal shooting. (This mostly applies to pistols. Rifles have more variation, in my experience).
ID: ht2ndidHuh this hasn’t happened to me? I must check out the settings.
ID: ht2tccait only happens when your clip is empty/reloading. i thought it was more of an alert that you have to reload.
ID: ht3so11No Man Sky does a similar thing when the mining beam overheats. Sick

Small detail I loved: When standing next to a Dreadnought egg, your controller is pulsating just on the side where the huge egg is.
ID: ht3kkr1I LOVE the left/right ability of the DS5 to have rumble be positional like that.
I noticed it playing Forgotten City right now. If you are standing next to a torch, the side nearest the torch will have a very faint sensation in the controller.

Im still questioning my good luck of late on how deep rock galactic is free with ps plus and has all these features and still continues to amaze me each session....can i get a rock n stone?
ID: ht24mv7I’m surprised at the variety of missions and things to do.
ID: ht2pe6lYeah went into the game blind and the first mining mission was what I was expecting. Then I got to on site refinement, salvage, sabotage, escort and was like holy shit lots of variety here. I think one of my favorites might be the on site refinement, feels very satisfying to carve out paths and build the pipelines.

ID: ht25uz5ROCK AND STONE, BROTHER!!!
ID: ht2mfc9Shit, the game is so good I want to pay for something because I got it for free. ROCK AND STONE!
ID: ht2wo1zThere are cosmetic packs if you want to give the devs some cash. I don't mind doing that when I got such an amazing game for free.

Is this game fun single player?
ID: ht2bbe1It’s a little more relaxing single player since you go at your own speed. I’ll do it on lower difficulties when I wanna just explore some caves and shoot a couple spiders.
But multiplayer is pretty great for the natural teamwork the character designs provide.
The devs designed the game to minimize teammate conflict, and it shows.
ID: ht28sflYes. You can also queue with randos without any pressure to stay with that group once the mission is done. It’s a blast.
ID: ht2hszbIs it common or expected to be on voice chat? I often don’t wanna talk to people when gaming lol
ID: ht2mx7pI enjoy it more with others and I’m typically a solo player. Playing solo some levels take a long ass time. With others I just play the gunner and let them do their thing while I mow down hordes. No talking necessary.

I've been pleasantly surprised with this game, really great PS5 game for free.
I will admit I have no idea how to locate the objectives so I'm just mining in random directions and killing things, though.
ID: ht24dq8Look on your map and use scanner on L1.
ID: ht253dwThere is a scanner!?!

Pleasantly surprised with this game. Downloaded recently due to recommendation and was real fun solo
ID: ht2nxolIt’s great even in the pubs.
-
This has been one of the best freebies in recent memory.
I think it’d be fun if the devs would consider “enemy” corporations that would drop their miners into your match and be harder to kill, but have some nice rewards if you do.

Fuck I wish I could cross save between the two versions on PS. I've been progressing via the PS4 version because I heard there was client issues when in a cross - platform party and we have a buddy on the PS4. I'm at one prompted dwarf and I don't want to restart.
Rock and stone!
ID: ht2fak3You can download and play the PS4 version on PS5 and still see improved performance and have access to the PS4 save. But right now PS4 saves won't work on the PS5 version of the game.
ID: ht2pv31But right now PS4 saves won't work on the PS5 version of the game.
Yes - to be clear this is my issue. I can't experience any of the haptics or trigger effects because I'm not playing the PS5 version. If I could use or transfer my PS4 save data to the PS5 version that would be great.
-
It’s an incredible game and I hope people consider spending any amount of money on a dlc, to support this dev.
ID: ht2kup0Reminder that you didn't get this game for free, we paid for it with ps+ and the developers will have gotten a large influx of revenue from Sony to put it on ps+.

Gyro aiming, finally it's being embraced. Please add it to more first party games, it makes a huge difference for precision aiming. I am glad more developers are starting to realize this. Now, before you comment, you don't like it, you don't use it, it always optional. For many people the joystick only aiming is too clunky to be able to enjoy, so this is a big deal.
ID: ht26a2eSo what do you aim like normal and adjust by moving the controller?
ID: ht26josFor me it was the first thing i deactivated.
ID: ht27hzqAs soon as i noticed it had gyro aiming i turned it off IMMEDIATELY.
ID: ht27py4It seemed very laggy to me. Like a full half second behind my actual movements. Turned off.

It's very nice that they implemented adaptive triggers and haptics, but kind of nuts that there's no adaptive trigger functionality for your pickaxe. You know, a core aspect of the gameplay.
-
I love the DualSense so much that I avoid ps4 games due to their lack of this feature. Why keep living in the past when the future is here and so bright.
-
Game is great and the dualsense implementation is just the cherry on top of an already amazing experience. I was honestly surprised at how well they implemented the dualsense features, considering the small indie team size. This will definitely continue to be my go to for PvE combat.
-
I tend to play games solo. Is this game still fun solo? Or do you need friends to make it worth it?
Also, is it cross play?
-
Can you play this game alone?

I didn’t even know the Trigger resistance could BE that strong.
