I’m still angry this can’t remote play my ps5 yet my old iPad can. So dumb. The vita had so much potential

ID: htpsyyg

It sucks Sony just abandoned it cuz they thought “mobile gaming was the future” even tho the 3DS was doing just fine

ID: htq6rik

Sony dont put love into their handhelds the way Nintendo does. Theres a reason Nintendo was and still is the only leader in the handhelds market.

ID: htr5s0r

I think Sony abandoned it because they weren’t selling as well as expected, mostly due to Sony getting greedy with the price of the unit, the price of the proprietary memory cards, and not working with developers as they should have to ensure the big games that we hoped would make it to the handheld.

I loved my PSP & Vita but it was definitely a financial investment, one that many just weren’t willing to spend the asking price on.

ID: htqbw2z

I played my fair share of hours of PS4 on my vita. Vita remote play 100% could work for PS5 but sony decides that puting an hour worth of codes isn't worth it.

ID: htq5aj1

This is me.
Can't wait for Steam Deck delivery for this purpose, a.k.a. Vita mk2.

ID: htqoj0e

except its a small form factor pc made by valve its more of a pc 2

ID: htqj30t

Really want to port Chiaki (open source remote play tool) to the Vita. It supports both PS4 and PS5 remote play.

ID: htrje3d

I would consider getting a portable psp that was designed specifically to play Ps5 games

ID: htroe85

Your old iPad has a decent WiFi connectivity though. The Vita is just terrible, much worse than the first generation Nintendo Switch, which is already awful. I had to sit next to my PS4 to be able to use remote play (directly connected), or very close to the router.

Even my 2011 iPad 2 still does 10ms and 90Mbit/s on 2.4Ghz when I’m sitting in my living room. I don’t think my Vita was capable of getting over 5Mbit/s on the very same spot.

ID: htrum3q

Wish I could give so much gold that song would see this and be forced to add the feature. How could they let this opportunity slip by

ID: htq83cq

I wish I could remote play with my switch.

ID: htqbq0s

Or you know, remove it from the dock?

ID: htqnk35

Ah fuck man, good to know.

Was looking at buying one of these so i could stream Apex from my PS5, really been looking for a portable/in bed solution but have heard the Switch OLED is even shit, so not many solutions whatsoever it seems

ID: htpsqud

That would be super cool

3 : Anonymous2022/01/22 09:22 ID: htq2fe0

The vita was a great.

4 : Anonymous2022/01/22 10:45 ID: htq9900

Great system, but it’s criminal Sony didn’t invest in it quite as much as the PSP. Also there seems to be a few games with glitched trophies, which sucks too.

ID: htrllas

What makes it worse is that the 3DS was in a similiar position in it's early lifecycle; poor sales, and no stand out games. The head of Nintendo cut his and other top-level salaries then said to drop the price of the console and started production on a ton of first party games. Going so far as to give away a ton of free virtual console games to people that original bought it. Meanwhile Sony, when the Vita failed, almost immediately gave up and cut production on their first-party games after less than a year and just let third-party JRPGs become the system sellers.

5 : Anonymous2022/01/22 10:19 ID: htq74gi

ah.... that's remind me ....

I saw Persona 4 golden on shelf and immediately buy it.... then i realized...

'crap... I don't have vita yet... welp ... guess i have to buy one....'

ID: htqi1cz

They arent region locked so you can import a NTSC J systems if you are looking for one of the other colors

6 : Anonymous2022/01/22 11:50 ID: htqep9c

Great handheld, but I knew it wasn’t going to be a success almost immediately.

When I worked at Best Buy, myself and a few other cashiers were handed Vita systems to wear on a lanyard around our necks, and were encouraged to play them between customers so that we could familiarize ourselves with them. I had maybe 1 or 2 customers comment about it, no one else cared. The iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch definitely overshadowed it at that time. It sucks because it was a really cool system.

ID: htrumh8

The people who were really excited about it were also in the know about how expensive the memory card was. I really think Sony shot themselves in the foot by making the memory cards proprietary and ridiculously overpriced. Ain't no way I was convincing my parents to make that kind of purchase.

ID: htrz62d

It’s hilarious that Microsoft is now the company using proprietary storage in their consoles, where as the PS5 allows for tons of different M.2 SSDs. They definitely learned their lesson.

7 : Anonymous2022/01/22 12:14 ID: htqgrs2

Could have at least cleaned the screen to show it off

ID: htr0ueh

To be fair, all it takes is a look and somehow there are fingerprints on your vita. I hate it.

8 : Anonymous2022/01/22 12:04 ID: htqfyio

I miss this console so much. I shouldn't have sell it 2 years ago. Time to buy a new one then.

9 : Anonymous2022/01/22 12:30 ID: htqi9l0

The Vita is such a curiosity. It had more hardware features than most developer could really use, it was “console gaming on the go!” but Sony’s big franchises largely appeared in PS2 ports. It’s like they were worried the prediction that “mobile gaming is the future!” was true and wanted backup in case the PS4 bombed.

10 : Anonymous2022/01/22 12:13 ID: htqgpp2

Vita gang rise up

11 : Anonymous2022/01/22 12:43 ID: htqjjhl

You could've atleast used a wipe you lazybum.

12 : Anonymous2022/01/22 13:05 ID: htqlpqv

I remember when I first got the PSP… I was in the fourth grade so around mid 2000s. Its crazy to think that it only had one thumb stick

13 : Anonymous2022/01/22 13:38 ID: htqp68f

Still got mine, too, and it's still working fine after all those years. I actually still play Lumines on it now and then, which was the game I had bought the system for. The only defect that developed over time is that the charging cable started to crack, but that was easy to fix with some electrical tape.

14 : Anonymous2022/01/22 13:43 ID: htqppei

Vita means life

15 : Anonymous2022/01/22 13:51 ID: htqqpox

I tried getting one last year but the prices are so insane

ID: htrhp99

are they? Sold my original oled one in incredible condition for $130 ish and that was tough to get.

16 : Anonymous2022/01/22 14:53 ID: htqyciz

Having a hard-ass time getting a Uncharted: Golden Abyss copy right now! lol

17 : Anonymous2022/01/22 12:17 ID: htqh2ru

Could’ve wiped these dirty fingerprints before taking that pic you filthy animal

18 : Anonymous2022/01/22 12:34 ID: htqingl

PS Vita is kind of trash imo. I personally prefer the PSP Which i think has a way better library of games then the PS Vita does.

PS Vita literally just had "Japanese support" and nothing else. with occasional support from european or north american studios assuming they were first party.

Only 1 japanese role-playing game is worth playing that i gave a shot when i was 17 and that was Persona 4: Golden.

19 : Anonymous2022/01/22 13:24 ID: htqnn8c

Best on the go system

20 : Anonymous2022/01/22 12:12 ID: htqgn30

Im'a need that Vita

21 : Anonymous2022/01/22 12:22 ID: htqhhzb

Words can't describe how much I want one

22 : Anonymous2022/01/22 12:40 ID: htqj7j1

What was the improvement with the Vita versus the PSP? I had the PSP and that shit was ahead of its time. I recall the Vita being a huge miss in the market.

ID: htqrnd8

OLED screen (initially at least), cartridges instead of UMD discs (this was huge for me; discs in a portable system were just not a good idea), closer to the PS3 than the PS2 in terms of hardware power, PS3 remote play, two analog sticks.

It wasn't successful in the west because Sony didn't support it well in the west, and then sort of dropped it. It felt somewhat half-heartedly, especially compared to Nintendo's support for the 3DS. It did better in Japan and was supported better there, too. The expensive propriety memory cards (instead of just using SD or MicroSD) probably didn't help. The biggest size was Japan-only, at least at the time when I bought it. Maybe that changed later on.

ID: htrwpxw

I still remember the $100 32gb memory cards, insane Sony was charging that much at the time.

23 : Anonymous2022/01/22 13:00 ID: htql7s7

Wish I was able to buy one when they were out but was too young

24 : Anonymous2022/01/22 13:31 ID: htqodum

I have missed mine SO much since I last had one and even though I got even more gaming systems by doing so I do wish I never traded mine in!!

So that being said I literally JUST bought a Vita, actually from Japan itself that will import. Made me laugh when I saw this scrolling after I just bought one! Like it was meant to be! Haha

P.s. Sony should 100% come out with a new Gen Vita!! It did well in US but not all that well as also “console” but portable for whatever reason didn’t pop off! It did more in Japan for sure!! But either way just not so much and that’s why they discontinued the Vita. But now that the Switch is HUGE! And Handheld is such a thing for full type consoles that Steam/Valve make a Full PC basically in the body of a Switch! Sony should FOR SURE make another Vita and they can add Adaptive triggers, Haptic feedback! Full PS4/PS5 integration and the use to do local Co Op but use new vita as second screen and controller and such! Like it will sell so come on Sony!!! Hopefully after PSVR 2 comes out they start on something like this!!!

ID: htqqd8t

It did well in US but not all that well as also “console” but portable for whatever reason didn’t pop off!

Sony dropped the support for it relatively quickly in the west. It got much better support in Japan. It competed directly with the 3DS (and the beginning surge of mobile phones) and Nintendo stepped up support for their handheld while Sony (in the west) just seemed to stop caring for the system.

It was such a shame, too. The Vita was a fantastic system, pretty cutting edge for the time. Great piece of hardware. I had a lot of hope for it and felt moving away from UMD discs (PSP) was a good call. Unfortunately, they went for propriety memory cards, which probably didn't help. They were expensive compared to the alternatives and less readily available (I had to import the biggest size from Japan because it wasn't offered in Europe at all). The 3DS just took generic SD cards.

25 : Anonymous2022/01/22 14:39 ID: htqwhmg

You could of wiped it first 🙂

26 : Anonymous2022/01/22 15:00 ID: htqz97a

Just chraged mine last night

27 : Anonymous2022/01/22 15:01 ID: htqzbk7

I wish the battery in mine didn't die so quickly and not hold much of a charge.. I loved my vita

29 : Anonymous2022/01/22 15:38 ID: htr4bw5

I wish I got one back in the day but I was young with no money

30 : Anonymous2022/01/22 15:38 ID: htr4gwf

My Vita died about a year ago and I still have it simply in hopes of one day being able to either take it to someone to get it fixed or make a display case to honor it.

31 : Anonymous2022/01/22 15:47 ID: htr5q55

I should really go back to playing P4G.

32 : Anonymous2022/01/22 16:04 ID: htr83jx

Please clean it I feel like I need a shower after seeing this shit.

33 : Anonymous2022/01/22 16:07 ID: htr8iii

When I had a Vita most of my time on it was Soul Sacrifice and Gravity Rush. I really wish the Vita had better support, then I'd still have one

34 : Anonymous2022/01/22 16:12 ID: htr9ab1

Great console. I had a chance to play on it and its soo great. I have a psp go and i played soo many games on it. I didnt had any psp-s before so i didnt mind that it couldnt read the umd-s because i fidnt had any since i didnt had any previous psp-s. I remember playing games like jack and dexter the lost frontier, motorstorm artic edge, avatar, nfs shift, most wanted, gta liberty city and vice city stories, god of war sparta and chains of olimpius, little big planet, tony hawk underground 2 remix, tony hawk project 8, jackass, assasins creed, gran turismo, vipeout, tekken, call of duty roads to victory, fifa street, pes 2012 (i think). Damn i remember all these games, but god of war ghost of sparta and chains of olimpius are mine favourites. I just love these two and i can always come back to them.

35 : Anonymous2022/01/22 16:52 ID: htrf8bz

Amazing system but sucky game support. A big shame. I traded mine in to buy a switch.

36 : Anonymous2022/01/22 17:13 ID: htrijym

Still need a PS vita

37 : Anonymous2022/01/22 17:18 ID: htrjb1m

38 : Anonymous2022/01/22 18:09 ID: htrr3f3

39 : Anonymous2022/01/22 18:20 ID: htrsww1

40 : Anonymous2022/01/22 19:57 ID: hts7k6y

41 : Anonymous2022/01/22 18:14 ID: htrrvv1
