Ubisoft's NFT bosses say players just "don't get it"
2 : Anonymous2022/01/28 15:21 ID: hulb5z8

NFT bosses?

So not real bosses then

ID: hulrma3

can I right-click and save these bosses?

ID: humd7ob

Why save when you can delete them from existence?

ID: humq3s7

"Players just don't understand how much money we could scam off them in a grossly unregulated system like this! Why won't they just agree to be fucking pay pigs for us? Losers..."

ID: hun9wz5

Its on the blockchain though. Don't they understand that the helmet the character is wearing in Far Cry 6 that they can't see is on the blockchain. They own that digital helmet, even though they can't see it while playing. Why won't they spend 100s of real dollars on it. I've heard they will pay 1000s for a gif of an ape.

ID: hulwk7u

From my understanding it's just the receipt for the boss, and not the actual boss.

If the customer doesn’t “get” the product that means the product isn’t working.

ID: hum4y9u

Ubisoft: the customer is always… wrong

ID: humh0re

Please buy one of our endless supply of open world games where you climb a tower to unlock the same 5 mini games all over the map. Thank you. - Ubisoft

ID: humglnr

We "get" more than they wish we got it. We're aware of it being a filthy money grab of unprecedented proportions, and we're not having it.

Like most things Ubisoft, the creativity of coming up with new ideas is equally lacking in their marketing department; this is their ploy to try and make people want something they already know they don't.

ID: hunibuz

There should be a global Internet rule that people can’t post the word “NFT” without proving they fully understand what they’re talking about.

Transactional Links in a Blockchain will never be part of a game.

ID: hunx5x4

Someone needs to ELI5 this NFT thing. I still don’t get it. And when someone says the “blockchain” makes it sound like some interdimensional construct. Like paths in attack on titan lol.

4 : Anonymous2022/01/28 14:51 ID: hul6nf2

Reminds me of the Skinner meme from the Simpsons

Am I out of touch?

No, its the players who are wrong.

ID: hulbz8j

Am I out of time

ID: hulixqc

Am I out of my head when you're not around.

5 : Anonymous2022/01/28 15:24 ID: hulbozw

“This is gonna make us so much money, why are you confused”

ID: hum5kl6

Perfect summary of the situation

ID: humu6cc

"Do you not have wallets?"

ID: hunycpu

“Don’t you understand that we want an unregulated second hand player market in countries that put regulations on our micro transactions that we can charge processing and transfer fees on until we decide to stop supporting a product and then you can own an asset that is no longer functional or accessible??”

The end game is about giving players the opportunity to resell their items once they're finished with them or they're finished playing the game itself.

"So, it's really, for them. It's really beneficial. But they don't get it for now.

If it really was about the players, why not make it that players can resell the actual digital game?

Plus there is absolutely nothing inherent to NFTs or to the block chain that make that new. People have been able to sell hats on TF2 for years if not decades now.

Imagine being able to take your items or skins from game to game.

And I hear this one regularly but it's hilariously such a dumb argument... First of all, there is absolutely nothing stopping anyone from doing it already. Some games have already included the ability to port your items from a previous installment. The technology exists and doesn't require NFTs. And if you actually think that a skin from Apex legend will "just work" in Overwatch because your have the the NFT, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. There is absolutely 0 incentive for the Overwatch developers/publisher to actually honor your NFT. It's actually beneficial for them not to.

There is soooo much wrong with NFTs and anyone trying to sell you the concept is just a scammer or someone who's in too deep and is trying to find someone to offload his bad decisions to.

If you have the time and patience, I really recommend watching this video:

Line Goes Up – The Problem With NFTs

It's long. I know, but definitely worth it. It really explain how all this works, and what's wrong with it on a fundamental level. I watched it over a couple of days. But it's really good and deserves a watch.

"The one market that cryptocurrency has successfully disrupted is the market of fraud"

"The end game is about giving players the opportunity to resell their items once they're finished with them or they're finished playing the game itself.
"So, it's really, for them. It's really beneficial. But they don't get it for now."

Lol, No, the point is we don't want to buy the items in the game to begin with. We bought the game, the items should be free within the game to all who bought it. Therefor there would be nothing to resell.... They just don't get it

Fucking cocksuckers lol 🙂

ID: hum117k

It's a pretty flawed argument to begin with, but it's an even worse that they chose to peddle these NFTs in a game that hardly anyone plays.

ID: humqul6

Yes it’s fucking dumb and the guy quoted should be thrashed by his exec team lol.

What a moronic perspective - we get it. Along with tons of people who game, I own crypto currency. I understand the ecosystem.

I just don’t want this shit bag concept of resealable in game items - and shoving it down using bogus but “cool” infrastructure like NFTs doesn’t make me any more excited about it.

Once I buy the game, I don’t want to get into the shitty as fuck world of owning, selling, bidding on totally worthless and not unique or rare digital assets.

It’s purely a money grab for Ubisoft and gamers see through it.

Fuck this moron lol, what a total clown. What the fuck does he know about nfts lol, he’s some middling exec who has made a dumb statement to the press.

ID: humgxcg

The end game is about giving players the opportunity to resell their items once they're finished with them or they're finished playing the game itself

I know this is about NFTs but why don't we just replace "items" with "Ubisoft digital games" and see how they like that?

ID: humzvpp

Which we can already do with databases. Blockchain is just another method to make this possible. Only the BlockChainers care about the How and making gamers pay for it too.

8 : Anonymous2022/01/28 14:51 ID: hul6mti

No, we do.

We just don't care.

ID: hul7d8d

They’re really digging in their heels and calling us stupid

ID: huld2i0

What the fuck is an NFT? I saw people paying literal thousands for a fucking ape picture that looks the same as virtually every other one.

Please tell me people aren't paying to "own" fucking jpgs lmao

ID: hul7co0

Insert Stephen A Smith meme

ID: huldkxu

No, we do care...

It's another shitty monetisation pushed by corpo top execs.

We don't fucking want it.

9 : Anonymous2022/01/28 15:43 ID: huleqyt

No, it really isn't for the players. They can spin it however they want but this is just a push for more mtx purchases. Mtx in single players games doesn't make sense from the start and now these clowns want to include virtual scarcity as well. Don't forget that even if the players buy nft's from each other, Ubisoft acts a sort of exchange in that transaction similar to binance and will take a percentage of the trade value. These assholes are just looking to make another system like the csgo marketplace where the average player will need to spend $100-$500 to get cool items and they get a portion of every transaction. Fuck them and I hope Heartland, Frontline and XDefiant flop hard which they will because Ubisoft is trend chasing and doing it worse.

LMAO what a fucking asshole.

ID: hulkilc

Sounds like butters from south park sold the idea of nfts to him

ID: hulrj5v

That's Victor Chaos to you!

ID: hum891t

Butters just sounds like every nft bro, this is what they always say to criticism, apparently nobody but them understands it

ID: huloqfp

Lol how about letting me resell digital games. Fuck NFTs.

Physical games for life.

ID: hulfarc

Lmfao it's giving "The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment" vibes

ID: hulduxs

I think/hope they might be digging their own grave in some parts of the world here.
When enabling selling of earned/randomized/gambled items they can hit legislation just like lootboxes are banned in some countries.

You could argue that if you can structurally earn money in the game it will need to be taxed as well. Also it could be theoretically interpreted as labor which would open a very big can of worms.

ID: hulpatx

Which means the games would become even more pay to win. If a player can sell their items, that means another player is buying them.

They want to cash in on real-money trading and cut out the third parties, basically.

11 : Anonymous2022/01/28 15:20 ID: hulb4j0

Wow, so they are calling us stupid now...

ID: huldjj9

Well out loud, they have always thought we were stupid.

12 : Anonymous2022/01/28 22:18 ID: hun5j74

“Have a star named after you.” The 2022 version.

Here’s nothing. Pay me actual money.

13 : Anonymous2022/01/28 15:21 ID: hulb9uh

Ubisoft is run by Butters

ID: hulgcbu

Victor Chaos here to tell you all about the growing world of NFT’s.

14 : Anonymous2022/01/28 21:34 ID: humyx8q

NFT'S in a nutshell: Pretend your married, and everyone in the world can rail your wife anytime they want, but you own the marriage certificate saying that she's your wife.

15 : Anonymous2022/01/28 14:58 ID: hul7oml

Gaming was possibly the worst industry for people to try pushing NFT’s in. Too many gamers see right through it as just more bullshit following micro transactions and lootboxes

ID: huld7e6

Sure, but micro transaction and loot boxes are still a thing and it's a huge source of income. We can hate it all we want, but if there's money to be made they sure as hell gonna try, and most likely succeed through perceverance. We started with horse armour and look where we are today.

16 : Anonymous2022/01/28 15:44 ID: hulevg6

Gamers don't get it... Don't get what? Gamers just want to play games. What else should they "get"? Should I care about anything else than my fucking games?

ID: hungwcv

Just like square enix said a couple weeks ago "gamers who play for fun"... Is there another reason to play games lol? These execs are so out of touch.

17 : Anonymous2022/01/28 16:55 ID: hulqaga

Yeah fuck NFTs and fuck them more I'm gaming. I don't have a problem with progressively unlocking stuff in game. I dont need anything uniquely special to myself. They all just seem like a huge money grab. And fuck this guy trying to call everyone an idiot.
