I was fully expecting some sort of trophy to pop if you closed it every time there was an opportunity as a gag thing.

Amusing little touches like this made the game that much better in my mind.

I was expecting a fridge closing counter at the end, it seemed like the game auto saved every time you closed it so I was sure it was counting them.

Noticed the auto save after two times closing it for fun, then I really started closing it hoping for some payoff. I wonder if the dialogue about it at the end is missable if you don't close it a certain number of times.

Same. It kept reopening so I thought there was some trophy associated to it. Lol

I got a Steam achievement for closing it a certain number of times I'm pretty sure.

I was not expecting the incredible amount of banter available on the ship. It was very immersive. Each character would yell across the room depending on where the other person was, with realistic audio effects. I was used to running out of dialogue after 1 or 2 conversations in Mass Effect, but GOTG keeps it going for a while before the next mission. In-mission banter is just as plentiful.

Edit: The payoff of all the Fin Fang Foom banter was so satisfying and surprising

The first moments on the ship felt so alive because of it. It sucked mr right in, and kept delivering.

The contextually aware banter was amazing too. I was constantly surprised by all the clever dialog I would get if I wondered off somewhere, or took a different path, etc.

I almost threw my controller each time Drax mentioned it.

That payoff made me cackle. I really loved the party banter, usually that type of stuff in games makes me roll my eyes, but it felt natural.

I initially thought a dev was getting back at their kid for not closing the fridge. So, they implemented in the game as pay back lol.

Gotta fix that step

What a great continuing bit

I liked the fridge. It was a good running joke and the couple of discussions the characters had "Are you going to fix the fridge Rocket?" "I'M BUSY" and then the later "I thought I was the only one closing that door..." from everyone made for some interesting flavour in the interactions.

For me it kinda reframed the story, it's no longer just me fighting to close the fridge or complaining to get someone to fix it but we're all doing what we could and not just ignoring it.

It made for more of a family-like bit of background fluff, yes it is nothing spectacular but it did bring everyone together a bit more.

It's also a call back to the scene at Peter's house at the beginning of the game, where the door of the fridge in the basement is ajar. I thought they were trying that to the ship on the fridge to further impress the idea of family and home on the Milano.

Most thoughtful fridge addition in a videogame.

I’m pretty sure that Mantis says it’s broken in EVERY universe she’s seen. Which is hilarious.

Ship banter was amazing in this game

The Jack Flag easter egg was hilarious. I was like “yikes” when he flew out in the space.

I closed that thing so many to times expecting a trophy to pop

9 : Anonymous2022/02/02 16:54 ID: hvaoyi7

Deepest lore.

This game was secretly made by insomniac and no one can convince me otherwise.

Was the fridge gag in spiderman too? I recall it in another game but afraid I'm going crazy...

That fridge was the worst thing ever for a person with OCD like me.

For some reason, I originally thought Drax was Kratos. I was then so confused why Kratos was smiling

I loved this game but the combat is was pretty shallow and I didn’t love the story. It wasn’t the worst story but could have had a better one. The graphics and casting/voice acting were both top notch. Hopefully there is a second game where they improve upon what they made.

Oh I love the story! To me it was so good lol

It was actually a joke from Seinfeld when Kramer looks in Jerry's fridge. I'm not sure how the author mixed up the two shows? Maybe English isn't their first language?

ID: hvbd57g

Did you read the article?Rather, it was added in as an ongoing gag, much like that of Phil Dunphy from Modern Family always tripping up on the broken stairs that he keeps meaning to fix but never seems to quite get round to doing.

That's what the reference is. English is not his first language no, he's from Montreal, Quebec, so it's most likely french. But believe me, English is a close second and most of us watch most of our tv shows in english.

Hell yeah Quebec bro!
