story driven single player campaign

Yes! I was expecting this to be strictly multiplayer focused but that is awesome news they're going to be giving us a single player. Even if it's relatively short and sweet it goes a long way in piquing my interest.

2024 is a ways off but I'd rather them take their time.

ID: hvr2gme

If you know Jason Blundell it was 100% going to have a story.

ID: hvsv9nk

As someone who actually buys call of Duty because of the singleplayer this is great news.

Multiplayer has never really been my thing as I'm not a competitive person and I dislike talking to strangers online.

ID: hvt6ct9

Blundell mainly worked on CoD zombies. He likes his complex stories, which has its pros and cons. The only singleplayer he worked on is the BO3 campaign, which is a shame because his other stories in CoD zombies were actually really good.

ID: hvt539n

A ways off? it's 2 years away ahaha but yes, hopefully all their live service MP games have a strong focus on story!

ID: hvsert8

I'd prefer story driven co-op campaign. There's a reason I've barely touched Halo Infinite yet...

ID: hvtauij

Reading your comment I was worried It was just another single player game for sony

Nope rumor says it has online. Might be worth picking up then if true

3 : Anonymous2022/02/05 22:10 ID: hvqwb72

possible deviation acquisition? sony is looking for live services so theres a high chance we see sony buying this or ubisoft in the next couple of years

idk if they are under a publisher or want to be independent

ID: hvr4krm

They are independent and formed last year, the heads are both former Treyarch devs. I can’t see there being an acquisition just yet with them being a new studio with no projects out there.

However, Sony partnered with Housemarque on Returnal and then acquired them after it was a proven success, but Housemarque were a well established studio at that time.

But who knows what will go on behind those boardroom doors if this partnership is successful!

ID: hvr9dpf

Sony really likes dropping some stacks of cash on small studios. “Hey, you guys look promising here a blank check to make your dream game.” Then a few years later rinse and repeat. Sony stays relatively hands off outside of checking in and making sure things are going well and offer any help they can. It builds strong rapport and loyalty.

ID: hvr76it

Sonys relationship with housemarque goes way further back than just returnal though. Years of relationship building

ID: hvrl5ph

Sony and Housemarque have been partners since the early ps3 days lol

ID: hvslxk0

Deviation games ain’t a live service also Sony ain’t buying ubisoft.

4 : Anonymous2022/02/05 22:27 ID: hvqynnr

Wonder if Bungie would help knowing that their main game is a live service Looter shooter.

ID: hvrlsge

Deviation is probably not going for a looter and more for a competitive shooter with a campaign

5 : Anonymous2022/02/05 22:57 ID: hvr2mpm

I already found a name for the fps game Sony will make: All for Duty.

ID: hvr3hkt

Yell Of Obedience

ID: hvrlssz

Proclamation of Obligation Poo, for short

ID: hvsip39

Holo

ID: hvskno3

Deatharea. To be followed by Deatharea: Silhouette Slip

Im still waiting for Battlefield competetitor.

Currently battlefield games are so bad. And no other games give the same experience.

If they make a game similar to bf3 it will dethrone bf2042 instantly

ID: hvsyme4

Remember Battlefield 1? Damn that game aged well. It's still the best MP experience out there. Massive maps, environments destruction, gunplay and veichles.

Nothing will replace it.

ID: hvt3l9p

It's a shame, I could never get into Battlefield 1 or 5. I started on Battlefield Vietnam and then onto Battlefield 2 which were great and I spent so much time on Battlefield 3 and 4. It would be nice if they could go back to making non-crappy 2042 🙁

7 : Anonymous2022/02/06 08:02 ID: hvsej2l

What kind of weak ass leaks are these? Studio made up of former FPS people are making a FPS they expect to be good?

ID: hvuq33b

I, for one, am shocked!

8 : Anonymous2022/02/06 06:29 ID: hvs75ne

This source is utter garbage. They were constantly tweeting about the next BioShock, but seem to have given up on that after having multiple completely bogus rumors turn out wrong.

All the stuff being posted is basically "plausible" nonsense that can be put together by job listings and studio leadership history...

9 : Anonymous2022/02/05 22:20 ID: hvqxlvz

A good battlefield would be nice.

ID: hvslzd2

That’s EA

10 : Anonymous2022/02/06 14:27 ID: hvtbgce

Would honestly like multiplayer included because quality multiplayer is actually becoming rare in our industry today.

11 : Anonymous2022/02/05 22:09 ID: hvqw9qq

This is pretty much everything we already knew?

When they first announced the game they said it would be a shooter with story elements. And we know it’s set for at least 2024 since they only just went into full production a few weeks ago. So around 3 years of development would be normal.

ID: hvr4ogk

They never said it was a shooter.

ID: hvspeuo

Ex Call of Duty devs. Pretty much everyone came to that conclusion

12 : Anonymous2022/02/05 22:20 ID: hvqxozy

I don't think they get to decide if it's world class or not, that's for the players to do...

ID: hvsdfbc

Yeah but they never said it was “world class” this source did.

13 : Anonymous2022/02/05 22:52 ID: hvr201p

Resistance ?

ID: hvr8bgi

No

14 : Anonymous2022/02/05 23:25 ID: hvr6do4

What has Deviation done? I tried to look them up but I’m a bit confused. They’re a new studio? But what’s the hype?

ID: hvr7329

It's founded by ex cod Black ops directo

. Sort of like respawn being founded by ex cod modern warfare people

ID: hvsnv3g

They’re a new studio of ex cod devs

15 : Anonymous2022/02/05 22:04 ID: hvqvjo1

2024 :’(

Although that is relatively short time period to work on a completely new ip. Still was hoping for 2023.

ID: hvr2msd

This game was never coming in 2023. Jason said in December that 2022 was when they were going to enter full production.

ID: hvr8ayb

Very plausible firewalk’s new game which may be a shooter comes out instead in 2023 or maybe even firesprite’s or guerrilla’s new shooter could as well

16 : Anonymous2022/02/05 22:48 ID: hvr1dc1

If you feel the need to say it's "world-class," I don't feel much hope.

ID: hvr9v96

Deviation games which partnered with PlayStation is working on a "Buggy ass piece of shit" FPS scheduled for 2024.

Better?

ID: hvs3eji

Lmao

17 : Anonymous2022/02/06 03:17 ID: hvs0euo

AAAA

18 : Anonymous2022/02/06 08:55 ID: hvsimxk

Killzone Killzone Killzone…

19 : Anonymous2022/02/06 15:36 ID: hvtkimo

OK. In my opinion, I think it's either of these:

A New IP (which is very likely)

Killzone revival (unless Gurellia is working on that)

Resistance (unless Insomniac is working on it, and it feels unlikely for either studio)

Socom

Warhawk

21 : Anonymous2022/02/06 23:07 ID: hvvfkan

Why even bother announcing it now, 2 years ahead of schedule, assuming it won't get delayed.

22 : Anonymous2022/02/06 23:45 ID: hvvkq12

Sony needs more partnerships like this!

23 : Anonymous2022/02/06 01:33 ID: hvrn1ai

Define world-class. Battlefield also considers itself to be world-class.

24 : Anonymous2022/02/06 07:49 ID: hvsdjgb

Yeah but Dice doesn’t have Jason Blundell and Dave Anthony The guys behind the black ops series and zombies. Most of the great talent at Dice left.

25 : Anonymous2022/02/06 08:57 ID: hvsiqcx

Expensive is my guess.

26 : Anonymous2022/02/05 23:53 ID: hvra3l4

You were expecting a game that entered full production in 2022 to release in 2022 or 2023?

And even if you didn't know that you expected a game from a studio that formed in 2019 to come out in 3 years when it takes well established studios that long or more to make a game?

27 : Anonymous2022/02/06 07:51 ID: hvsdmia

Yeah I would rather a AAA release in 3-5 years the longer it takes the better chance it’s of good quality.

28 : Anonymous2022/02/05 23:40 ID: hvr8d0u

Very plausible firewalk’s game comes out next year

29 : Anonymous2022/02/06 09:39 ID: hvslyd5

Playstation trying to get their own FPS on to the market before Xbox decides to rugpull. Well played.

30 : Anonymous2022/02/06 14:48 ID: hvte4s7

PlayStation partnered with them before the Activision deal. This is Sony trying to diversify their portfolio this gen, instead of all their games being 3rd person action adventure games

31 : Anonymous2022/02/06 03:03 ID: hvryn0x

Hmmm ok

32 : Anonymous2022/02/06 14:09 ID: hvt9awq

You know it’s gonna be good when their marketing campaign is a self-proclamation of being ‘world-class’ /s
