- Ubisoft Plans New Assassin’s Creed Game to Help Fill Its Schedule
-
Gonna be set in Baghdad according to Eurogamer
ID: hw8q3swID: hw94aq5Until the USA decided to change that
ID: hw8xi1jBrilliant setting.
AC just feels best when it’s in a Middle Eastern setting. That’s why I liked Origins over the subsequent titles. AC1 and Revelations also had some special charm to them as well.
ID: hw9fi35I’d say medieval Europe/Middle East feels the best. The first four were the Holy Land (Damascus, Jerusalem, etc.), Central Italy (Florence, Venice) etc.), Rome, and Constantinople. It was such a odd choice to go to the American colonies after all that and then the Caribbean despite Black Flag being such a great game.
ID: hw9ltndWhaaaaat the fuck no way!!! Bring me back to the Middle East where it all started! Holy shit!

Game is codenamed Rift, will star Basim and it was formerly an expansion to Valhalla.
Release either this year or 2023.
Won’t be an open world RPG, will instead be a more stealth-oriented title (which is great).
Article also talks about Ubisoft’s struggle in padding out its schedule with quality titles and the internal issues and scandals they’ve been facing recently. I can already see a certain company licking its lips.
Edit: Eurogamer is reporting at this game being set in Baghdad.
ID: hw92zrbSeems like they might accidentally do a filler game with things people have been asking for for years lol
ID: hw9eh7jIt'd be a great opportunity for them to test the waters with that, yeah. Will be interesting to see if they get it right!
ID: hw9kgrmThe Pokemon Legends Arceus approach.
Honestly, I'm not sure why other companies don't do this more often with big IPs. Have a clearly established "mainline" series and then allow some spinoffs or shorter games that try different things so they can experiment and see what works. They've kinda done this with Far Cry: FC3-Blood Dragon-FC4-Primal-FC5-New Dawn and lots of the things from the other games have helped the mainline series.
ID: hw915i0Baghdad? My hometown, nice.
-
Honestly, a small scale linear stealth game set in AC sounds far more appealing than another 200 hour massive rpg.
ID: hw8nn41I wouldn’t mind it being open world again it just doesn’t need to be anywhere near as big as it has been. Id be fine exploring a city instead of an entire country
ID: hw8xnvaI just had this conversation with my brother the other day. I don't mind open world games, but i would rather have a smaller dense map with verticality compared to these giant maps with huge areas of just...nothing. I really liked the structure of Brotherhood or Syndicate when it came to how the world was built.
ID: hw8ql4lThis. Plus don’t clutter the map with pointless filler such as collectibles and side quests with no depth
ID: hw95pldI think their main games can be open world, but these spin offs should stay linear.
Something like guardians of the galaxy style would be sweet.
ID: hw9xyjpI don’t even care about the size of the map. Just stop making the story so damn long with nothing but fluff. Valhalla would have been my favorite AC…if it had been 20-25 hours shorter. And I didn’t even finish it. There’s just too many better games and not enough time to deal with that.
ID: hw8uf7cA nice little 60 hour game would be chill
ID: hw95tw4A nice well made 15hr game would be chill
ID: hw93xnvLittle or 60 hours? Lol
-
A not-so-open world Assassin's Creed game focused on stealth gameplay? Well, shit here we go again.
ID: hw95z25Not bad for a spin off.
Get the best of both worlds.
ID: hw9kv2bThe OG gameplay mechanics is now the "spin off" mechanic. How times have changed
-
Sign me up. Also a 60fps black flag.
-
Ubisoft is no longer content to make AC games packed with filler. Now entire entries themselves are filler.
-
I 100% last 3 AC games so I should know pretty well they copy paste way too much stuff and there's little to no effort to make take these games to a higher level. I hate that they don't take a couple years and actually put some real effort into a game
-
"We are not gonna make games to be good, fun and entertaining: we are going to make games to fill schedules!!!
YOU GET A GAME! YOU GET A GAME! EVERYBODY'S GETTING A GAME!"
-
This is precisely the problem with AC now. They are so cookie cutter that they can just turn side content into a new game and produce it to make a quick buck. That’s why these games no longer feel like they have any kind of soul or passion.
ID: hw91lvoNow? You must be new.... they've been doing that since 2.
Brotherhood was suppose to entirely included within AC2, even after they cut it they still couldn't finish the game so they literally sold unfinished MIDDLE chapter's, as DLC.
ID: hw9cn48Bruh that's how AC Brotherhood became a thing and it was a great game.
ID: hw8so4lYou must not have read the article
ID: hw8sxobNo I read the article.
-
Yawn
-
I am hopeful for this prospect.
-
I’m excited
-
AC is ubisoft’s COD
-
Wait…they want an Assassins Creed game to fill in between Assassins Creed games?
ID: hw92nkwIt’s the only series they have left that they can still milk
-
I'll wait for it to be 20$ after 3 months.
-
I want thw old gameplay focused on action, stealth, one hit kills, and less rpg elements and gear score.
ID: hw92av4read the article
ID: hw9412uI tried, kept getting an ad that sent me back to reddit.
ID: hw939y4Seems like this is going to be what you’re asking for. I’m pretty hyped for it, I’ve been waiting for that type of gameplay to come back ever since they released Origins.
I hope it does well so they start making these games again, instead of making it to pad bigger releases
-
I'm not sure why they just don't do Japan.
ID: hw8x7rwGhost of Tsushima did it better than they ever could
ID: hw97m77Because Ghost of Tsushima would embarrass any attempt they made.
-
Sounds great tbh
-
Lol at anyone who thinks ubisoft will make a quality ac game again, don’t fall for the marketing or hype.
ID: hw93au2Valhalla, Odyssey and Origins have been awesome...
-
I hope the open world's a lot smaller tired of the filler also this better not be live service
-
If you squeeze hard enough, you might just get water out of a rock….
Ubisoft is out of ideas. They’ve milked AC for all it’s worth, and every Ubisoft game is the same game with a different theme.
No more huge, open world errand simulators. If you’re gonna do it, make it a new game, new gameplay loops, new things to do etc. so bored with all these games now.
-
Really disappointed they’re using Basim from Valhalla. Wish they used a new character in a new time period smh, gonna have to pass on this one
-
Basim is a cool character.
-
why do they think we want more Valhalla... literally one of the most boring settings.
-
Copy-paste
-
Eh, no thanks. Ubisofts on my shit list and AC is tired at this point.
-
just revive ezio
-
No
-
Go figure

Kassandra was in Valhalla and it was glorious.
-
This is what I've wanted from AC for a while.
-
smaller and stealthier?
I'd say that's perhaps what AC for Oculus Quest is likely to be...
-
Why make it DLC if you can make it standalone and charge full whack?!
-
I am inhaling copium for a pre-Origins AC. Give me the action stealth copium. GIVE IT TO ME!
-
Oh man, a new assassins creed because 20 other versions don't already exist. So excited, not. This has to be one of the most uninspiring franchises due to being copy and pasted year after year.
-
Yes
Finally an assassin game where you ain't a warrior
-
I'd rather have them publish something other than Assassins Creed, or take the time to develop a new intellectual property.
-
Please no more!! Ubisoft is awful. FC6 was a huge POS, AC VALHALLA was a tedious bore of a game and just too big. I’m all for open world games but I don’t want to play a game for 200 hours with awful side quests and story.
Learn something from GHOSTS OF TSUSHIMA
-
Please be a return to form.
-
Ubisoft would be amazing if they took more time with their games. They put out way too much way too fast. I started playing AC Valhalla two weeks ago, I am surprised by how much I have to do in terms of the amount of treasure i have to collect etc.
-
Each game is in development for years to be fair. I think Valhalla was in development for at least 4 years but yeah, some of the games do deserve more of a rest. A lot of them are getting a bit long in the tooth.

The city of peace!
Edit: thats literally what Baghdad was called for centuries
