Gran Turismo 7 – What are the differences from Virtual to Reality

We are getting super close. Some of the photomode shots are indistinguishable from a real life photo.

The next gen only GT and FORZA are gonna look indistinguishable from real life.

The Forza Horizon creators are super good with graphics and realism, I don't feel the same about Forza. But this is also why I'm hyped for Fable.

Next gen only Forza drops this winter. Very excited for it

I’d say we were about there.

The thing is, some photos can look too perfect and sometimes it’s obvious it’s not a real photo, but a photo from a game.

Will the track show the tire marks develop throughout the race? Or is it just static ones that are the same throughout?

Adds to the immersion if it’s dynamic and it’s also funny to see marks where someone (or yourself) clearly messed up or wrecked.

From the video a week or so ago that showed dynamic weather, it looked like tires added marks to the track during the time lapse.

That’s good news! Thanks for the info

Wait….you don’t change engine oil on a tesla

5 : Anonymous2022/02/24 14:45 ID: hy8vax8

Cool

Interesting that they chose to show a Tesla when the model that they have is old AF and I’m assuming they haven’t added any new models. The real driver in the video is driving a Model 3 which I don’t think is in the game.

In another video, they did say that the model 3 is coming in a later update!

Oh, that’s awesome!

Really hoping the game has realistic damage modelling. Lack of damage has been a problem in GT for me.

ID: hy9e889

It has not been mentioned or shown up until this point and the game comes out next week, I would stop setting yourself up for disappointment.

Doh

There’s a few replies to yours, but none of them are the real answer.

It’s because they use real car brands in the games. They are perfectly capable of modeling the damage, but contractually, no car company wants to show their vehicles all trashed up beyond minor alterations. Lotus doesn’t want you to know their Elise would pancake at full speed into a wall. You’ll see that in mostly any game with real-life vehicles, no damage system takes it too far.

So, no there won’t be major damage but maybe they can figure out a way where it doesn’t feel like a weird tank.

The other comments are kinda right as well - ideally the game should be played trying to avoid crashes as much as possible.

Because damage modeling makes no sense in a sim game when the entire point is to finish the race and improve.

Once your car is damaged and the performance compromised, you're out of the race anyway. So in real life you would stop racing completely. The track officials would remove you.

What sense does it make to replicate that in a game? What's the point in damage if you're still competitive in the race.

The number of players who would keep driving a damaged car would be insignificant and most players would just turn off damage, quit, or restart the race anyway.

...eh?

I think in a "sim" racer, if you spin out into the wall that should be the end of your race. You can't really call your game a racing sim without damage.

thats kinda a stupid marketing move, there is still a big difference between in game and reality. you aint fooling anyone.

ID: hy8uzpa

it’s not meant to fool anyone, it’s meant to show how realistic GT7 looks and how realistic the cars are.

ID: hy8vvse

Lol, they are not saying "there's no difference between reality and a game" they are just showing how close GT7 comes to reality in terms of visuals and they are right, it is pretty close to real life

Those metal sections were dope. Also, this looks good.

The Only game that features the new Tesla's

The environments give it away

ID: hy983v2

I think the people give it away as they don’t look good. The environment looks decent though.

ID: hy98da2

Digital foundry pointed out some flaws in the environment in their latest GT 7 video. But you're right the audience doesn't look all that.
